5 Years Down The Drain
By -

After working for Dillard's for 5 YEARS I was told to "resign". Our store is dying, so all sales are slipping. In the past two months four other employees were pushed out. I was told two weeks ago that I could either be fired or "resign" by the end of the month because my sales were slipping. So, I gave my notice for Aug. 2nd -- the last day of my review period. I was told I had to give it for the 1st, or else (I found out later) that if I stayed until my last (failed) review day, that the store and my boss get in trouble for employees failed reviews.

So they had to make it look like I left on my own in order to save THEIR ass! They have some nerve! I was told that they "tried really hard to keep me", but company SPH policy wouldn't allow it. Don't EVER work for that company. They will throw you aside in a heartbeat no matter HOW long you've been there.

WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- My mom bought a dress for my daughter from Dillards that is two hours from where we live. My daughter found a dress she liked better - not from Dillards. My mom used her debit card to purchase. I contacted the store and I explained how far we live and my daughter found another dress and wanted to put that money toward the other dress. He stated they would have to credit back to the card or give store credit. I advised him my mom is away I don't have her card and we were not satisfied with the dress. He would still not comply.

I will not shop at Dillards ever again. They have inconvenienced me, my mom and my daughter. Now I will have to get the card from my mom, take it back to credit her card 2 hrs away. I will have to do it that way because I do not want a store credit, I will not spend money there again. Do not use Debit at Dillards if it is a gift the receiver will get taken...

Credit Card Balance
By -

MCDONOUGH, GEORGIA -- I opened my account on 1-18-2008 with Dillard's with a credit limit of $400. I charged $199 at a local store on 2-1-2008. I paid the balance off on 2-7-2008. On 2-11-08 the payment posted; however, my available credit only reflected $200. I called Dillard's to see why. I was told that the other $200 was on hold until 2-29-2008 because my payment history is new. I was appalled at this. Why give me a $400 limit then when I pay the charges off you do not give me the entire credit back. That makes no sense! I feel they are doing this to charge me the credit protection fee. I will close this account! BEWARE OF DILLARD'S!!!

GASTONIA, NORTH CAROLINA -- I have had my Dillard's card now for 2 months. About a month ago I called to ask if I had any type of payment due on my account (I never received a statement and still to this day never have). At that time the lady I spoke with told me that there had been a statement mailed to me and that my payment was 2 days late. After explaining to her that I never received anything in the mail she walked me through setting up an online account so I would have the information at all times.

I made the payment and she told me that she was noting my account so that if my next statement had a late fee from this I could call back and have it taken care of. Well sure enough my next statement had more than one fee charged to it and put me over my credit limit so now I had over the limit fees also. I called today to discuss the charges and the supervisor I spoke with was very rude and said that she would not remove any charges and there was no evidence that what I was saying was true.

She had to name of the lady I talked to the time before and would not ask her about it or tell me her name. I asked why I would have been told that the charges could be removed if they couldn't and all she would say is "there is nothing that I can do, I will not remove any of the charges." I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY AGAIN! Not only will I not charge anything, I will never shop at Dillard's again period.

Dillard's Listed a Lemongrass Cookie Jar on Their Website on Sunday for $22. Now Canceling Orders Because They Made a Mistake

INTERNET SITE, OHIO -- I went on Dillard's website Sunday morning because the Fiestaware group that I belong to said they were having a great sale at the stores 50% off the cookie jars. Their store is 2 hours from my house so I was hoping that they would be on sale online. They had the Lemongrass cookie jar marked $22 so I ordered one thinking it was a great deal. Now they are saying it was all a mistake and that they were canceling the orders that they no longer had the cookie jars at all. I think they should have delivered on the orders because they left the mistake on the website for more than 24 hours even after they were made aware that it was there.

ALTAMONTE/OVIEDO, FLORIDA -- I ordered a pair of Gianni Ninni shoes on Dec.23 to wear in a new year's party. On Dec 29 I received an email saying that my order was canceled. I understand that things happens and there is a possibility that don't have my size etc, but why they have to wait to the last minute to tell me that they don't have my size??? Why the ordered the shoes if they knew my shoe size was not available?

I am really disappointed with Dillard's online system. I couldn't find any shoes that could go with my dress. When I told the sells person that I wanted my money back in my credit card she told me that the order was never processed. If you don't want have a bitter experience with Dillard's online order, don't buy. Only buy at Macy's, their online system are great I have ordered only without any problem.

Falsely Accused of Shoplifting, Yet Not Arrested Only Being Slandered.

ALBANY, GEORGIA -- I have spent thousands of dollars in this store for me & my family. I have been accused of shoplifting. Every time I am shopping in the store, the camera watchers, a couple of women in the office tell the cashiers to watch me. I know of this because I'm told these employees are gossiping about me & slandering my good name/reputation with all of the other store employees each time I come into shop.

I asked this worker "how did you find out about me & this situation," & they said I'm watched & we speak about keeping an eye on you & they claim I have taken stuff! I was seen digging in my purse outside in my vehicle, looking suspicious one day after I left the store.

We'll if that's the case, why did I not get arrested nor stopped by anyone? Why am I allowed to shop there? I only know about this situation from this one person, not from the Dillard's Security people or workers who are so concerned the last 4 times I have been in lately. I guess anyone & everyone who walks into Dillard's in Albany GA is automatically guilty. But they won't call the cops if they think you've stolen something, you'll just get publicly slandered by their employees & without proof be labeled A THIEF.

BY these Dillard's employees making accusations, it's spreading negatively around town. Just recently I was shopping for school clothes & other items; I wished I could return all the items I BOUGHT. I no longer wish to spend my money at Dillard's & they better keep their mouths shut unless they'd like a slander lawsuit!

Won't Exchange Vera Bradley Products

LEWISVILLE, TEXAS -- Our daughter received a Vera Bradley mini-hipster as a gift and wanted to exchange it for the same item in another pattern. The initial Dillard's salesperson was very helpful, but the department manager got involved and refused to exchange it. We don't know where it was purchased originally, but Vera Bradley customer service told us that any Vera Bradley retailer or Vera Bradley store would exchange the item.

We have since gone to a smaller, very customer service oriented Vera Bradley retailer, The Ivy Cottage in Coppell, Texas, where the sale personnel were very helpful and cheerfully exchanged the item. Given my experience with Dillard's on this situation involving a small item, Dillard's has lost a good customer for future purchases of any products in their stores, but The Ivy Cottage has gained grateful customer.

LEWISVILLE, TEXAS -- I got a shirt for my Birthday 3 days ago and it was too big. Went to Dillard's since the shirt had the tags. I was thinking that they will exchange and I could also shop and apply for the card etc. Three people in the Men's Dept. and nobody was able to either help me? All I was asking was for an even exchange. I was told "sorry, but we can't exchange with no receipt"? Are you kidding me?

I just told them, "it was a Birthday gift." You will think that they will find a way to help me but No. They could have easily exchanged it and even verify that my Birthday was a couple days ago with my Driver's License. I was not even asking for a refund was I? They lost a potential Customer without even becoming their Customer.

Bad Customer Services

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- I bought an item at Cincinnati Kenwood Dillard's two weeks ago. The sale associate told me that I can return it within the 30 days at any Dillard's store if I am not satisfy with the item. I went to Cincinnati Eastgate Dillard's on Saturday to return it.

The duty manager ** told me that Eastgate Dillard's cannot return it because they don't sell this product. She told me I have to return it at Kenwood Dillard's where I originally purchased the item. I called the duty manager at Kenwood Dillard's in front of Karen and told Kenwood that Eastgate cannot return for me. Kenwood Dillard's said, according to the return policy, I should be able to return it at Eastgate. The duty manager ** was very rude and had no concern for customer service. In the end, I had to drove one hour to the Kenwood Dillard's to returned.

The manager at Kenwood was very nice and apologized for the inconvenience for me to drove the long distance. Both Dillard's stores have the same policy, but one provided good customer services, the other one provide bad customer services. Compare with Kenwood Dillard's, Macy's, and Nordstrom stores, the Eastgate is the worst store of them. I would like to drive one hour to shop at Kenwood town center rather than drive two minutes to shop at Eastgate Dillard's in the future.
