SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- My wife bought the Banzai Slide 'N Splash (product #01428) from a local retailer. It looked neat on the box. It has a picture of kids playing on the slide and in the pool. The kids looked to be between the ages of 5 and 8. Today I opened the box and assembled the blow-up pool and slide. My wife, kids and I are extremely disappointed. They obviously used a bigger pool and slide to take the picture. Or maybe they used pygmy dwarf kids as models.

My three year old barely fits on the slide and the pool is much smaller than it looks on the box!! Needless to say, we are returning it.

After Googling for the box, I can definitely say that's photoshopped. Very misleading. This has happened with other Banzai products as well.

Defective Slide
Posted by on
SALISBURY, NORTH CAROLINA -- I purchased the Banzai Double drop falls last. Used it a couple of times and stitching started losing air, one of the kids fell off the top. Fortunately they were not hurt at this time. I took it back to Wal-Mart and they said it would have to go back to manufacturer. I tried to get in touch with someone who could do something last year to no avail. Early this season I tried to get something done. They said it wasn't their problem, I should have done something last year. I don't have that kind of money to just throw away after a couple of uses. I finally took the box out of the building after the kids kept begging and I am letting them play. If one of my kids gets hurt due to this faulty slide I will be sending them the Dr. bills I am also contacting the Better Business Bureau and consumer affairs. I think I might get action 9 news to come and have a look at the slide and what it does when the kids try to use it. I have never had so much trouble with a product especially one that expensive.

I have saved my email correspondence with this company and let them have a look also. I don't have money to throw away. I have six kids to play on this thing. One is 4 years old and they could very possibly get hurt. All they had to do was admit it was sub standard and replace it. I am not the only one with complaints and to my knowledge all others got similar excuses not to stand behind their product.

That would make an interesting story for Action 9 news - You complaining about the dangerous slide while they film your children playing on it. And the Parent Of The Year Award goes to...
hubbard53 on 08/08/2008:
lol yeah. Its as if you're hoping a kid gets hurt so you can SUE and "gets you some monetary comp-en-sation."

if you truly think your kid will get hurt, how could you let them play with it?
cherpep on 08/08/2008:
There have been other complaints posted about this slide, you are not alone. That's a lot of money to spend on a toy and you have every right to expect to use it more than a few times. Keep issuing those complaints, I hope you get some resolution. But even if you don't, getting satisfaction from being right is by no means worth having a child be hurt. Why take the risk? They might enjoy the slide, but if you truly feel there is a safety risk, why would you consider letting them on it? You know the right thing to do here.
Slimjim on 08/08/2008:
Losing air in the stitching seems to be the main complaint about this thing. I don't think I have ever seen anyone who knew anything recommend it. What I don't quite get is the unsafe part. Losing air doesn't make it dangerous. A child fell from the top how? Was it directly related to any defect in the product?
Principissa on 08/08/2008:
If you think this product is unsafe, don't you think it best that you not let your children play on it?

You are not the only one to complain about this slide. I've read at least 3 other complaints this summer alone. One would think that with the money customers like yourself are spending on this slide that it would last more than one summer. Keep pestering them. You deserve a refund for this inferior product.
Anonymous on 08/08/2008:
Can we say this enough times? Do not let your children play on the slide if you feel it is not safe!!

Anonymous on 08/08/2008:
Yes, give the kiddies something safer to play with...I suggest 'Jarts'.

Not Worth The Money
Posted by on
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- This product as others have stated is not worth the money. I just purchased it on 6/17/2008. I have used it exactly 4 times. You cannot return it to the place of purchase once opened nor can you reach their customer service department at 1-800-434-6178 which I have tried on 8 occasions (yesterday 2 times!) You wait upwards of 15 minutes and the call then hangs up on you. I emailed them finally and still have not heard from them. The workmanship on this product is horrible. Everything from day one is breaking at the seams.

The only alternative I will now have is contacting the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Affairs. Please do not waste your money on this slide.

Doesn't this slide cost around $300! It should definitely get more than 4 uses! That's a shame, it looks like a lot of fun for the kids. I would have purchased it for mine when they were younger. I hope you get some resolution, please post back if you do. Good Luck!
Principissa on 07/18/2008:
We were actually thinking about getting one of these for the kids next week. For the amount of money that we would spend on it we would expect more than four uses! This isn't the first poor review I've seen on this product so it's safe to say that we will not be buying one. Thank you for posting this! I hope that you get this situation resolved.
Anonymous on 07/18/2008:
Princi, we used to buy one of the big blue tarps at Home Depot and turn a sprinkler on it. You can nail down the sides and corners using the grommet holes. Kid's loved it, as 3-4 at a time could be using it. Cheap and never broke.
Anonymous on 07/18/2008:
It does look like fun.
Slimjim on 07/18/2008:
There has been quite a few poor reviews here on this overgrown slip n slide. There was this one guy who was raving about it once but I think he was just looking for anything to write about in his star quest, and he pretty much had already covered his grocery list.
DebtorBasher on 07/18/2008:
There are quite a few different models of this slide. I know Pirate was very happy with the one he bought for his son. Just last week he said he was going to get it set back up for him. From what I understand, he's gotten plenty of enjoyment from it. So, it may depend on the type or model you got.
cindyrella on 07/18/2008:
Box or bundle the dam thing up, drive it to the store, drag it in, bring your receipt and proceed to complain loudly until they give you your money back. Once they do give you your money back, thank them even louder for being such a great store with ethics and for caring about their customer enough to do the honorable thing! Seriously, the store will give you the money back, they don't want you to make a scene. Bring the kids and tell them to start screaming and crying on your signal and you will give them each 5 bucks and ice cream on the way home. Trust me. You will get your money back. They don't read the package where it says you can't return it to the store. If you have your receipt they usually just refund the money without the fuss of a scene. That's why you tell the kids not to scream and cry unless you give them the secret signal!! My kids have never had to do this but they have always wanted to! They are now 18 and 20 and still laugh about never getting to because the darn store always just gave me my $$ back. The store has more clout than you and they really don't read those directions telling you not to return it to them. They want your business! Do not be afraid!
Rebecca66 on 07/19/2008:
To Poster Cindyrella: I can assure you I am far from being fearful and will fight especially when it comes to my money! Lolol But it does clearly state on the ToysRUs receipt no refunds for this product once opened and/or used. I will post again with an update of the outcome. I have already contacted Consumer Affairs and the BBB.

Customer Service Lacking, Waterslide Defective
Posted by on
MANHATTAN, KANSAS -- Bought the banzai falls Six Flags waterslide for a pool - great invention --unfortunately the one I purchased for $300 at Walmart has defective materials -- made in China -- imagine that, on the top side panels - used it for a few months last summer -- brought it out this summer and after a few weeks, big holes blew out on the sides, first one then the other -- material is just breaking down -- the rest of the slide is fine -- just those two sides --

I've called Toyquest 5 times, on hold forever - talked with 3 different people - the supposed boss, won't return emails or phone calls -- bottom line nobody expects to pay $300 for a one summer pool toy -

It wouldn't have been that hard for them to just say OK - you're right - and send me one without the defective panel - beware Toyquest not up to the challenge so far

Well thank you for this review no-name person from the big apple they call Kansas. We had some other guy here raving about this but fortunately nobody trusts his advice. It looks like something that one "torpedoes" away from a Jumboliar and the whole thing comes crashing down like a bowl of chowder. Gimmie a O for ouch Alex!

We need to stop having things made in China. That country sucks when it comes to safety violations.
Slimjim on 08/16/2007:
Not so fast MJ, we still need vital imports like dragon floats and bottle rockets.

Horrible Product and Service

We went through 2 Roaring Rapids Slides in less than 3 months. Toy Quest customer service was horrible! It took forever to even get a response back and now even after trying to replace our 2nd Roaring Rapids slide the customer service said sorry it is pass the warranty and to use fish line or super glue spray. UNREAL!!! DON'T EVER BUY ANY BANZAI SLIDES BECAUSE THEY DON'T STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS! We spent nearly $700 on it too!

I paid almost a $1000.00 for the slide, and it has a rip in it. I have contacted customer service and it is a joke, one day I get one story the next day I get another. I advise NO ONE TO EVER PURCHASE ANY KIND OF MANLEY PRODUCTS!!! This wasn't a cheap lesson at all for me, and very upset is the least you can say! It really doesn't matter though they already got there money AND DON'T CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Torpedoes away! There must be a dozen complaints here about this manufacture's slides tendency to tear. I haven't seen one compliment from a competent reviewer yet.

how 'bout a complaint? lol

Slimjim, why did I know that I would find you here?! (still laughing)
To the OP: I feel your pain BUT do you know how many trips that 'thou' could have taken you and the family to the local water park for way less stress and agony? A water hose and perhaps a Slip and Slide for a fraction of what you paid surely would have sufficed.

This company SUCKS! I paid $600.00 and the slide had a hole in it with the first use. The customer service was "rude" and they made promises that they did not deliver. They will not refund my money and they have no more slides in stock to replace! I threw away a lot of money and the company could will not even make an effort to make this purchase right. How can this company get a way with this? I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN!

Defective Sidewinder Slide
Posted by on
My slide had the same issue as the other post on here. The lining on the top of the bumpers (yellow) only just started flaking off. It only happened in this area. We bought ours last year - this is only the 2nd season. I called customer service who recommended taking it to a pool place to repair but otherwise they did nothing. The side of the product says not to go back to the store with issues - but calling them is no help either. Avoid these if you can - $450 for only 1 years use.

Sometimes you just have to stick with the basics (slip and slide) instead of trying to turn your backyard into Six Flags.

*twenty dollar swimming pools and getting wet with the water hose agrees*
old fart on 07/01/2009:
that's the truth Zzrokk!..What ever happened to running through the sprinkler..?

right on, zz, right on. and on that note, whatever happened to making a big ole mud puddle in the back yard with the garden hose? grab yourself a piece of plastic sheeting and you've got the greatest slip 'n' slide known to mankind.

I have bought 2 of these waterslide and had the same problem with both they ripped down the seams with under 10 uses. Why 2 because my children were so disappointed when the first one ripped that I was hopeing it had been one time defective slide that was not the case. I bought the 2 year warranty on both slides and after months of fighting toysrus finally paid me for the first slide I am now fighting for the second time on this product but toyquest has a defective product and they care nothing for disappointed children.

Slimjim on 06/23/2009:
Really, yet some guy wrote a positive review on this thing once here. Probably used it twice and was just looking for an excuse to show off his lack of writing skills. Gimmie a J for junk, Alex.
BokiBean on 06/23/2009:
Yeah Slim. I remember that post because I went to the web site and thought how neat these slides were. And a little pricey.

If I remember right the OP said they had used it all total about 8 times before it ripped, and he found that satisfactory. For $700, I would have expected more.

At these prices, I'm just glad I don't have kids. If I did, they would learn the joy of running through the sprinkler like we did.
Anonymous on 06/23/2009:
Slim, the last time we heard from him the story had turned to really his neighbor down the street bought one, remember? Probably trying to get some distance from the cheap slip n' slide before it turned into a possible Banzaibiz disaster.
Slimjim on 06/23/2009:
I think you're right super. No doubt the thing is trashed now, especially if his bloated mass gave it a whirl. I guess it's back to the public pool he had a "membership" for. Gimmie a T for Torpedoes away, Alex!

Customer Service is Horrible
Posted by on
PAULSBORO, NEW JERSEY -- After my Banzai Sidewinder Falls slide ripped after a few uses, customer service sent me the wrong replacement slide and sent it to my work. I never asked it to be sent there. Also, they then sent me the slide I wanted, but sent it to my house when no one was home. They didn't request a signature be required to leave which seems stupid to me when it is a $400 slide. After being very nice to their customer service rep, she was really nasty back.
