Office Depot - Very Polite Service!
By -

GALVESTON, TEXAS -- My husband and I were in Office Depot today, and we were getting a new desk chair. The place was clean and bright, the people were polite. Going to check out, they had us stand aside and the cashier was very insistent that someone come get our chair off the top shelf asap. She constantly assured us they would be up soon. It took several minutes but she was very concerned that we knew what was going on and that she hadn't forgotten us. To top it off, the chair was less expensive than it showed it to be. I was VERY VERY pleased with my visit and I will be shopping there again.

Vista Upgrade Not Available as Promised
By -

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- I purchased a Toshiba laptop at Office Depot towards the end of 2006. The laptop was advertised with a free Vista upgrade for any laptop purchased between 10/26/06 and 3/15/07. For several months I attempted to access the Toshiba Vista Upgrade page. Over those months, the page never worked properly, so I stopped trying until this month (May). The site now says it is too late to get my upgrade, that the offer was limited to March 31st.

I feel, especially due to the release date of Vista, the poor performance of the Toshiba site, and the short time period between March 15 and March 31st, the FREE Vista upgrade was a misrepresentation on Toshiba's part, and on the part of Office Depot.

Always the best service

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA -- I don't know where all the complaints are coming from but, I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and have had nothing but incredibly excellent service and treatment. Even to the point of receiving store credit for an instance when a vendor did not honor a mail in rebate that I had sent in to the company for processing. The management folks that I have dealt with get five stars. You know what, sometimes it's not what you say but, how you say it. Oh, and by the way, neither I nor any family members or friends work at Office Depot. This is just my 3 cents worth.

Wrong Price, rude people
By -

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Went into Office Depot to purchase a file folder. The listed price was 10.99. When I went to purchase, they charged me 11.76. After the purchase was finalized, I decided to just go check and make sure. I double checked that the price WAS 10.99. I went back to the person behind the cash register. She told me that someone will come and do price check. I waited. No one came so she left her spot to check price.

I was right - it WAS 10.99. She then tried to give me cash back although I paid by credit card. That meant, endless pennies and nickels in my wallet. So I told her to return it to my credit card. She made a horrible face and said "So, is it my fault?" She said the manager will have to come. After 10 minutes, the manager came, and I was too frustrated then. I told her I would like to just return the folder. She then just returned it.

What bothered me was that:
1) No one said "sorry, we charged you the wrong price."
2) All right, forget about sorry, at least be nice to customers.
3) Why do they have the wrong price? Simple: Because they are MORONS!!!
4) I know the difference is less than 1 dollar, but I wonder how many other customers are wrongly charged routinely.

Horrible Return Process
By -

December 1, I bought a 20” TV through the Office Depot website. When the recipient got his Christmas present, he wasn't happy with it. A look at their website told him that purchases could be returned at any store, so the Friday after Christmas, he took it to the nearest Office Depot. They told him they wouldn't accept it, he had to call the 800 number on the website for a pick-up. Thinking there might be a problem since he wasn't the original purchaser, he returned it to me.

On the Office Depot website, I found the 800 number for returns was only good Mon through Fri, and requests for returns had to be submitted within 30 days of purchase. Since waiting until Monday would put me past the 30-day limit, I used the on-line RMA request form. Two days later, I get a ‘delivery delayed' notice on the form submittal; three days later, a ‘delivery failure' notice.

I wrote Office Depot and requested an extension on the 30-day time limit since their RMA request form wasn't working. They told me an agent would call me. He did – when I was at work. I have repeatedly called back the number he left, but just keep getting voicemail. I finally gave up and gave the TV to someone else. I can afford to do that, but what if I had really needed the money back? I have resolved never to shop at Office Depot again.

The Worst Experience With Retail Ever
By -

MICHIGAN -- I have never encountered so much frustration, so many dead ends and lack of help, and so many lies as when dealing with Office Depot. I purchased a laptop that I needed to return within the 14 day return policy. They refused and the store manager then lied to me about store policy on refunds. So I went to another Office Depot store and they even said that manager lied to me! When I returned another product that also had the store's Protection Program, they did not refund me what I paid in taxes.

So when trying to take this complaint to their corporate office, I was on hold for an hour and a half and nobody ever came back to me. It doesn't end there, but nobody would want to read the book of problems that I've had over the past week. I've never been treated so poorly. I've been hung up on, accused of not being an informed consumer, lied to, scammed and as of yet nobody in corporate cares. Do yourself a favor and don't buy your expensive purchases from Office Depot. It's not worth the hassle if you ever need help.

Lied to About Warranty Terms
By -

GREELEY, COLORADO -- I was told when I paid my money that my warranty was a "replacement". "Just bring it back to the store and we give you a new one." As my laptop is my office, I paid. Sure enough, the CD burner went out after 13 months. I called Office Depot only to be told that I had to send my laptop to Florida for service. Livid wasn't the word. And what am I supposed to do in the meantime? It took 4 days (not 2) to send me an empty box, no packaging, that I was supposed to put the laptop in, tape it up and send it off.

I ended up going to a UPS store to have it properly packaged. I also printed out a list of all installed hardware. It better come back with the CD repaired and everything else still there. As the buyer for a $1 million company, I guarantee I will not purchase from Office Depot again, when it comes to expensive electronics. I'll use a local computer store who is there when you need them, and doesn't lie.

Horrendous Customer Service
By -

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- Placed an on-line order for 6 cases of Laser paper for an important project. Supposed to be delivered 2 days later. Waited 11 hours, and after 3 phone calls, still no delivery of the products. Next day received a call that they couldn't find my address the prior day, but no one ever called to notify me. My address is very prominent and is directly across the street from a major city business. Truck driver must have been lazy. Customer Service reps for Office Depot very un-caring and distant. Will never do business with them again. Will instead use Staples or Office Max. I'd write the CEO of Office Depot, but they've kept his address hidden.

Furniture Delivery
By -

LUBBOCK, TEXAS -- On Friday, September 21, 2001, I missed my scheduled delivery time for furniture I had purchased. When I called Office Depot, I talked to the manager and he told me I would be able to pick it up on the following Saturday since I needed it to be at my office on Saturday. Once I arrived, I spoke with Patrick **, the assistant manager who was very helpful in getting my furniture out of the delivery truck and into my vehicle.

Everyone was very apologetic about the mix up with the delivery. Mr. ** did not hesitate to stop everything he was doing and help me with my problem. I then ran into the manager of the Lubbock store who was also very apologetic about the mix up. Thank you for your time.
