SLT-A77 Camera Repair

LAREDO, TEXAS -- Sony Repair "Sucks"! One of the worst experiences I has ever had with any company. I have called and called trying to find out about my Pro Camera SLT-a77., I was sent an estimate on a repair that was super high and all the note said was the price for the repair and call an toll free number to approve the repair. That's when all hell broke loose. First to took over an 1/2 hour to reach someone. The person on the phone had no idea what I was referring to even with the Order # took another 1/2 hour and still could help me.

Then he found it told me I would get an email within 24 hours, didn't speak good English got mad because he didn't understand me so ask to speak with either a repair technician or a supervisor he lied then hung up on me. I called back waited another 1/2 hour got the same guy His exact words were "I told you there was no supervisor and you would get an email and hung up again.

I waited another day (today) for the email which I never received, called waited this time 45 minutes got the same guy, asked him to speak to a supervisor his exact words were "I'm sick of this" which I replied "What did you say" no answer so I asked again now he tells me he is the supervisor and didn't I tell you to wait for the email? and hung up.

I then call support explained my issue, gave him everything he needed (numbers, names) he could not help me so he said let him talk to service before he put me on the line with them. Mind you I waited on each one of those phone calls over 1/2 hour each. Now I had to wait another 1/2 hour which I thought he was explaining my problem to the service person WRONG! To my surprise a lady comes on the phone with no idea what is going on with me or the problem.

So I asked her to speak with a supervisor or a repair tech, but she said until I give her all of the info again she could not do anything. I asked if this was the repair facility or an off shore she lied and told me it was the repair facility, after continued questions she admitted she was an off shore. I asked to speak to someone who spoke English and at the facility, she would not do either. Now I am pissed off and have lost my patients.

As I am penning this letter I still have not received the repair email or a call from anyone from Sony. I was switching from Canon Cameras to Sony Pro Cameras I have the SLT-A77 and the A700 and the A900 and was getting ready to buy the A99 not any more. The Hell with Sony! Love the products but the Service SUCKS!

Don't Back Their Warranty
By -

I bought a Sony 330A digital camera off of eBay on May 5th of 2011. Just shortly after my purchase I noticed a malfunction on the camera. I called the seller and was told they could not find anything wrong with it after sending it back to them for review. They suggested that I call the Sony customer service department to see what they could do as it was supposed to be under warranty. I spoke directly with a SONY representative. She asked me where I purchased the camera, when and from whom. I specifically asked if since I made my purchase off eBay if the camera was still under warranty and was told YES.

I was also told that the warranty was good for one year after the date of my purchase. I specifically asked this question because if it weren't under warranty, I would send it back to the seller NOT to SONY for either repairs or my money back. Shortly after I sent the camera to SONY for the repairs I received an e-mail with a bill but not a single statement as to what the issue was and how it was fixed. ONLY a bill for the labor and repairs. I sent one back saying, I don't think so and who blindly pays for a repair that is not explained. You don't go to your mechanic and tell him to charge you whatever for whatever he does to your vehicle? That would be costly and outrageous.

Got a call the next day from another SONY representative telling me that my purchase off of eBay was NOT under warranty and oh so sorry for your wasted shipping costs and time vested and that their representative was wrong. I asked to speak to someone of higher authority and was told "NO". Unbelievable that SONY, as large as they are, has such poor, mistrained representatives and such poor customer service. In the real world, if you make a claim, you own up to it whether or not it cost your company money or not.

I will be going to every single website I can to let everyone know what a rip off this company is as they were more than willingly to blindly accept my money and to not buy any products if you ever plan on having to fix them under their so called warranty.

Worst Customer Service Ever

FORT MYERS, FLORIDA -- Worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. I am about to send my camera back for the 3rd time! The first time they didn't even work on both issues I told them about. They continue to not listen. About a month after responding to me once, they sent the same exact response to me again! At the beginning they didn't even respond to me at all.

They refuse to give me a refund and (until today) have not even acknowledged the fact that I have asked for a refund about 4 times now. They completely ignore customers requests and refuse to compromise on issues. The time Sony and I have spent on this lemon of a product has far outweighed the cost of the item.

Worst Return Experience Ever!

LAREDO, PENNSYLVANIA -- Bought an action cam from Sony, I mean it's Sony, what can be wrong with this multi-billion dollar industry right... So, I decided to return it for a refund. Sent it to Sony Consumer Direct Return Center in Laredo, TX and it got there on March 4th, 2013. 10 business days later I called to ask about my refund because Sony says it takes 7-10 business days after delivery.

I called 16 times and every time I called, I spoke to a Filipino person with zero skills of help to my issue. Finally after 16 calls, I spoke to another Filipino and he finally told me that those ** in Laredo, TX, just acknowledged my item Today, on March 16, 2013!! I will NEVER buy directly from Sony ever again, I'd rather go to Amazon and deal with them than those useless Filipino people in the Philippines! So let's see if on Monday I will get my money back or will I have to file a dispute with Chase.

Finally a Good Review
By -

LAREDO, TEXAS -- I read over 50 reviews and they were all negative. I was worried about my camera. I shipped out on a Monday Fedex for warranty work. They received it on Wednesday and I got it back the following Tuesday. It was repaired and works great. I give praise to the service center.

Camera Serviced Twice, Now Dead, Not Two Years Old
By -

I purchased this camera for a family wedding. It took fine pictures for about two months, and while on a trip of a lifetime just stopped working. I had it repaired, still under warranty. Approximately six months later, stopped working again. Had it repaired and worked for a while, now it is completely dead. I purchased a spare battery to make sure it wasn't "user error". No such luck. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM. PERHAPS I GOT A LEMON, BUT WHO WANTS TO TAKE A CHANCE?

Sony Products Horrible

I had problems with both items within 2 weeks and when I called they transferred me to India, which as we all know is no help WHATSOEVER. I have my notebook repaired over 5 times already for the exact same issue, the camera had to be replace 1 time. The products are made very, very, very cheap and pathetic. I had a way easier time with my Dell laptop, never did I have to call. I will NEVER, NEVER EVER BY ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM SONY, EVER!
