Recently the letter "t" on the keyboard of my Sony Vaio laptop computer (which is still under the original 1 year warranty) stopped working, so I sent it to Sony to be fixed. I was amazed when Sony called back and left a message on my answer machine saying that the computer will cost $773.96 and that is because the unit has a fluid damage done. I assure you that this computer never had any liquid near it ever.
I called on Saturday 7-31-2004 and requested for someone to check it more closely and call me back. The call center that is virtually located in Florida promised me that someone will return my call within 24 hours. No one called on Monday 8-2-2004, so I called back and was told that someone will call me back within 24 hours. No one called on Tuesday 8-3-2004, so I called back and was told that someone will call me back within 24 hours. No one called on Wednesday 8-4-2004, so I called back and was told that someone will call me back within 24 hours.
Finally someone called back on Thursday 8-5-2004 and said that they would not be able to provide me with the pictures about the damage and they would not even provide me with a letter saying that they cannot provide me with the pictures, or why? I know why they can't provide me with pictures, and it is because it is not a liquid damage like they are stating. And all this is unethical, trying to get out of the warranty by making things up. I am 100% positive that they are wrong and they are just not willing to admit it.
The Vaio care software causes the laptop to slow down to a stand still and if allowed to continue unhampered will cause the laptop to crash. I am still looking for a way to safely remove Vaio care from my laptop but at this time simply stopping the Vaio from doing its "analysis" seems to prevent crashing. From one programmer to the fools that wrote the Vaio care software... You are idiots for thinking the public wouldn't notice!
BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA -- So I bought a Sony laptop. It costs me around 900 dollars with a year warranty. I chose this laptop over Mac because it was cheaper and I already had an iPhone. 1 year later. The battery is terrible. I can only use it for one hour and it's dead. I cannot take it to class even without it dying. It's unreliable and I'm miserable by buying it. I wish I never bought it. BUY A MAC DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. After the warranty they don't care about you at all. Make the right choice.
ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- I purchased a Sony Laptop from Best Buy and purchased the extended warranty that was to cover the cost of replacement of the Laptop. However, approx. 2 months after I had purchased it, the screen cracked after it had been on for an extended period of time and I closed the top. When I tried to get Best Buy to replace it, they told me that it had to have been dropped and it was not dropped. Now I have had to replace the screen at my cost. I paid $150 for the extended warranty. What can I do?
