Insurance Cancelled After Small Claim
Posted by Spogoloff on 11/09/2013
HARTFORD, NORTH CAROLINA -- For 10 years, our homeowners and landlord insurance were with Travelers. For the first time, we submitted one small claim for a stolen computer. Four months later, just a few weeks before the renewal date, we received a cancellation letter by snail mail--not even a phone call or email or advance notice. Even worse, the only reason they cancelled was because we didn't have our auto policy with them.

That's all it takes these days. Don't you know that you're "never" supposed to ask them to pay for anything that you are covered for? At least that's how they think.

I have been with Travelers for three months, and it has been three months of hell. First of all, they sent me a device to install in my car so they can track my driving. I didn't ask for this and refused to install it. Then they lost my auto with draw authorization. I sent the auth in and two months later I was told my payment was denied by the bank...not true! They went to my rental unannounced and the tenant became frightened and turned the inspector away. I got a letter in the mail stating my insurance would be cancelled due to lack of access to the property...This was a HUGE mess. last but not least, I was told by Travelers that I had to replace my ENTIRE roof because a few shingles were lifting...This roof has 5 good years left on it. Their way of doing business is intrusive, stressful and non communicative. HORRIBLE!!!

Not a Right Insurance to Get
Posted by Arvind_talwar on 10/27/2013
CANYON COUNTRY, CALIFORNIA -- I had to do my floors through Travelers. They sent me a check for the repairs but when I asked them to give me the accommodation for a week because the house is not in livable condition the supervisor did not contact me for 3 days and after that they denied. I do not think I should recommend anybody to get this insurance because when they asked me to sign up they gave me the most expensive deal and whenever the time came up to pay back these guys they ripped me off.

WARWICK -- I had a minor fender bender, where I hit a car as we were stopped in traffic for a red light but all moving slowly coming to a stop. I was attempting to make a right hand turn into a side street and the car in front of me was blocking the intersection. I thought I had enough room and didn't. I damaged her rear passenger side bumper and my front drivers side bumper. No injuries, both cars drivable.

I Work There and It Sucks
Posted by Reshaw on 05/22/2013
KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE -- Their computer systems are NOT reliable and NOT user friendly: programs are extremely slow, freeze, and continually crash; multiple programs & systems are used when they could be combined and streamlined; layout and input of information is scattered and different for each system; navigation keys are different for each system; systems do not communicate with each other, e. g. a policy change will not update the billing system for several days; information in computer does not match information on declarations pages sent to customer; customers are continually having problems viewing/printing emails and online documents; information that the customer sees online does not match information that customer service sees.

Company policies & procedures don't make sense: policies & procedures are purposely vague and generic (which makes it impossible for customer service to give a firm answer); discounts do not have a set percentage and vary for each customer; deleting an auto coverage does not remove the stated premium amount for that coverage, e. g., if collision coverage for a vehicle costs $100.00 and it is deleted the customer may only save $80.00 because the cost for the other coverages goes up; home policies may be canceled for the most minor reasons (one of my co-workers showed me a letter where we threatened someone because when our inspector stopped by there was a ladder leaning against the house); no emails or phone calls will made to a customer who is in danger of cancellation or having a bill sent to collections all communication is done via letter; and many others I don't have time to list.

Overall I would recommend getting insurance somewhere else.

(By eliminating $100 of collission only $80 is saved because other costs go up.) I do not see a problem here. The more things that are covered lowers the cost of each, think bundling. (ladder against the house) This increases the chance of burglary plus injuries and liability claims.
Just because company policy and procedures do not make sense to you it does not make them wrong. Try to entertain the thought that smarter people than you make these decisions. As far as some of your computer complaints about systems not changing at the same time (takes several days) there are valid reasons for this also. If you feel working there sucks I suggest you find employment you are happy with. Both you and the company will be better off.

Smarter maybe common sense bankrupt! They bully their employees and change policy on the fly to hang you. Can you say nazi camp?

Travelers and their agent were very good to me. The agent Mr. Brad Dupuis was very professional and very efficient and absolutely honest on everything. He never told me a lie.

Every time there is a Travelers complaint, it is usually followed by 'compliments'. I have trouble beleiving any of the frequent (and very similar in form) Travelers compliments, but hopefully some of them may be real.

My thoughts exactly! Truly amazing how that works, huh - I'm sure most consumers are well aware of the companies employed by these larger Corporations to "protect" their web reputations - I know someone who sits at home and that's all he does........ the put in various positive entries to bury the REAL one.

MONTICELLO, NEW YORK -- I admit that I am skeptical about insurance company service. This was the first time in 30 years that I made a claim with Travelers on damage to my home caused by broken pipes in the middle of winter. A very professional team responded immediately despite the large number of problems in the area and advised me on the mitigation required, ripped out my bathroom and kitchen and provided an estimate on the cost of repairing the damage. I had a check to cover my costs within three weeks of the event. I was impressed.

I'd like to think this is a real compliment, but with Travelers it's hard to tell.

I'm with you Alain, they seem to come in waves and 99% are compliments.
