MARYLAND -- Computer support or just a sales ploy? I contacted Dell in early June because I needed to replace the LCD screen on my laptop. Had three contacts with online Dell support about this. At the time they did not have my screen available, so they suggested I find a Dell store or go through Amazon.
One month later, I need to replace my battery. Contact Dell and first thing they mention is my warranty has expired--1 year ago. followed by a heavy sales pitch to renew this warranty for over $200. Is battery replacement covered under the warranty--no! Is LCD screen replacement covered under warranty--yes! Did anyone mention that when I contacted in June about my LCD screen? No! Seems like a pretty selective and faulty business practice to me. Heavy sales pitch on the warranty when the service isn't covered. Conveniently "forget" to mention it when you contact about a covered service.
So...I sent some feedback and asked to be contacted to discuss this. So far..no one has followed up. So much for their commitment to customer service.
