General Electric Company - Disappointed in GE Range
Smooth-top Range with steam clean oven - Complaint

We had to buy a new kitchen stove, our other one blew up, we looked at several, but ended up getting a General Electric, well, we like everything about it, except the timer when things are done, you know how most of them are loud enough to hear it all over the house, well, this range, it is so low, that it might as well not have one. It is more of a whisper. I contacted General Electric about it, and ask if there was a way turn it up and they said it is factory set in the factory and no way to turn it up. I told them if they are going to have one that is that quiet, they need to also include a counter top buzzer. I would have never dreamed you would have to check the timer sound before you buy a range, I have never ever bought a stove that has such a quiet alarm and I am over 51 years old.
I would have given GE a better rating if they had offered to solve the problem. You figure you pay a more, because it is higher quality.

I've always liked G.E. ranges and wouldn't hesitate recommending them. With that said, I'm not sure how you would consider them to "solve the problem". It's a feature and design of the way it is. If it's not loud enough for you, why not try to use the timer function on the microwave?

Interesting. If that is how it was designed and built, there is no solution that they could offer to you. It would be helpful to post the model number, if you stop back, so others will know.
I have a GE oven with a loud beeper. I agree that this is something one expects, and it's too bad GE let you down. Hopefully they will take your comment into consideration with future designs. I believe GE doubled down on their intent to keep the appliances division within the last few years.
