UPS - Delivery
Customer Service - Complaint
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- Placed an item with Amazon.com, to be shipped UPS. Just missed the driver on the first attempt, sticker on the mailbox stating "shipper requires signature." Left work early the next day trying to catch the driver, but he had ben to my address even earlier then the day before. Same notation on the sticker again. Called Amazon to check on this; they tell me it is not their requirement, but UPS. Call UPS, service (?) representative tells me this requirement is "driver discretion" and that he apparently wasn't comfortable leaving the item at my door (hallway of a condo building where I have had packages left before.) Service (?) representative says there is nothing he can do. Sign the back of the notice releasing UPS from any liability resulting from leaving the item, and attach a note asking the driver to leave it. The driver basically gives me the middle finger, exercising "discretion" once more, and the result is the item is on its' way back to Amazon. I will never do business with UPS or anyone who ships UPS ever again.
I have written the company CEO, and Amazon says they will contact UPS to discuss this. Not holding my breath for any positive results from either of these, as the sheer volume of complaints I read about UPS online suggests these types of delivery problems are common, and UPS simply doesn't feel they have to do anything about them.
