Aflac Does Not Pay as They Say They Do!!

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I too heard the long drawn out sales pitch from an AFLAC representative who came to my work. I purchased 4 different coverages that they had covering everything from short-term disability to critical care. I became ill prior to 10/1/13 and missed my first day of work that day. I have been to specialists and had tons of tests in order to locate my health problem. I have filled out paperwork after paperwork with all of the doctors that I saw.

In 3 months and 8 days I have received 1 check for $433.00. They request paperwork, I complete or have completed and fax in. All of their letters state that claims will be processed within 7-14 days. Basically what that means is within that time they will figure out how else they can put you off without paying you. I contacted them today requesting the status of the money they owe me. They told me it would be 30 days and the last paperwork I sent them was on Dec. 27.

So, other-words, DO NOT count on getting your monies owed within a reasonable time at all. All of their commercials are a JOKE. If you do not have money in the bank you are screwed because you will definitely be starving and have had your power turned off and your car repossessed before that day comes. My health condition means that I will probably not be able to go back to work so counting on any type of peace of mind by having AFLAC is definitely out of the question and a complete farce!! Good luck if you bought into their crap and hope and pray that you will never have to use them.

I Love My Aflac

I have had Aflac for 5 years and it has paid out every time I have needed it. I worked for a school district in California and if you get hurt while off the job, you cannot get state disability because school employees do not pay into it. I took out Aflac and it has been awesome. When I left the school district, I took my coverage with me to my next job. I would not be without it. It's easy to use, I have always filled out the papers myself, turned my paperwork into my doctor and my work and faxed the paperwork in myself. Within a few days the claim will be processed and I receive my check. I love it. :)

COLUMBUS, GEORGIA -- The female, I am not going to call her a lady, made AFLAC the next coming. Well jumping ahead one year. A doctor at the VA hospital diagnosed me as being in the first stage of kidney failure. My kidneys are working at a level 3. That was in May of this year. Because I drive for a living, I can't drive. I've been out of work since June 20th of this year.

I called my AFLAC representative about three times she return my call once. When I told her about the trouble I was having, she was going to check her resource and would call me back later that evening or the next day. I guess now my science is not what it used to be but 24 hours should have past at least a couple of months ago.

Now my next step was to call a local office in Houston, Texas - 713 677 0760. I was told that the person was out of town and would be back the following Monday anyway, no call. Is there somebody we can call, like the State Attorney General's office?

FORT COLLINS, COLORADO -- I have needed to use my AFLAC insurance twice over the last 10 years and I cannot say enough GOOD things about their response: FAST payment, MORE money than I thought would be paid, NO HASSLE! The first time I needed it, I was ill because of a pregnancy.

AFLAC does have a waiting period from sign-up to maternity leave (so that you don't sign-up just because you're pregnant). But, this medical leave was during a pregnancy and within 2 weeks of filing my doctor's paperwork (which was simple paperwork), I had a check in hand via the mail. Then after I gave birth, they were "johnny-on-the-spot" again with the check for my maternity leave (coverage of 6 weeks, if I recall correctly).

BTW: I let the policy lapse for a year, and during that year, I was out on a different medical leave. I really missed that coverage (could have used the income replacement), so AS SOON as I was back at work, I renewed my coverage and I will never let it lapse again (that was 3 years ago)!

AFLAC is Incompetent!!
By -

LORAIN, OHIO -- I have a short-term disability policy with AFLAC. I was told by a representative that they could not read the doctor's writing and as a result they "assumed" the primary diagnosis was seizures last year and according to policy it was "associated" with headaches and that diagnosis was "paid out." I asked him did he and his supervisor have M.D. behind their names and why my physicians were not contacted for clarification. Nobody even bothered to check the diagnostic codes! Totally incompetent! Because I said something, now they are requesting doctor records. They are so unethical and make decisions by the seat of their pants!! Maybe a class action is in order, huh?

Aflac Works
By -

COLOMBUS, GEORGIA -- Aflac works! I purchased coverage for my spouse and me many years ago. It was the best decision I made. In the past 5 years, he has been hospitalized many times for a heart condition. Following each visit, I submitted the required hospital records and doctors form and within 5-7 days received checks. No questions asked!

Last February, I had a fall from the icy running board of a truck. My knee was damaged and I had to have knee replacement. I applied for my short-term disability and have been out of work for 4 months with two more, possibly to go, and the checks arrived as promised. I know of many people that have wonderful Aflac rescue stories. So to the naysayers, I say contact your agent directly or a regional office and get help because Aflac works!

Will Aflac Pay on a Hip Replacement Surgery on a Pre-Existing Hip Dysplasia Condition?
By -

INDIANA -- I was diagnosed 10 years ago with hip dysplasia. I was told some day I would need a hip replacement. I want to have that surgery in the next two possibly three years. I do not have Aflac, but I'm considering purchasing it in anticipation of this future surgery. Will Aflac pay such a claim and if so, how long do I have to hold the policy before I can make this claim?
