JACKSON, TENNESSEE -- Very poor communication from this store. I bought a sofa and recliner on Saturday 4/14. I was told someone would get back to me by weeks end to give me a delivery date. No one ever called, so I had to call the store to inquire on my purchase. I was then told the sofa was in but they were waiting on the recliner which showed a delivery date of 5/01. Now it's 5/02 again no one contacted me about my furniture delivery so I had to call the store. I was told it would be ANOTHER 2-3 weeks, and the chair was still not in.

I asked to speak to the manager who was very polite but then again, he couldn't promise me a delivery date for the recliner. I also asked for him to contact the manufacturer as a follow up for the delivery and he couldn't do that. He could only check the company website for an estimated delivery date. So now I am waiting again to find out when I could receive the set I purchased. Calling Ashley corporate office didn't do any good, since the store in Jackson, TN is independently owned. I feel I am being ripped off and as far as I'm concerned they are thieves to accept money for goods that they can't deliver on. Very unsatisfied in Jackson, TN. I would never again shop at Ashley.

Horrible Business

ASHEVILLE-AIRPORT RD, NORTH CAROLINA -- Purchased a fairly high-end recliner for my wife's birthday on Nov 25. Her birthday is Dec 2. After paying we were told it could not be delivered until 12-8. Slow, but OK. It was delivered, but it would not work. It's electric (in theory), but the delivery people would not take it back. The delivery man called his store and we were assured they would call us to solve the problem. They, of course, never called. We went back to the store and talked to customer service (this is the place where they say "Sorry" but won't do anything) and were told that it would now be 12-27 before she would get her chair.

Later, they called and changed that to 1-5-12. I told them that we didn't have to have that particular recliner, "Could we just pick out a different one?" Nope, only the store manager can authorize that and of course he wasn't there. "Well, can we just get our money back, since you have not furnished us with a chair that we paid for?" Nope, only the store owner can authorize that and evidently I can't talk to him. I call what I thought was headquarters in Wisconsin, but they don't own the stores so I got another "Sorry". Once this store gets your money, good luck!

The Worst Furniture

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, ILLINOIS -- Anyone who is thinking buying anything from Ashley Furniture, stop at your tracks. The furniture is worse than cheap store furniture. We purchased two years ago and the recliner is already broken. The filling/cushion became flat after 1/2 year. The service is horrible, so why you waste your time and money. This company doesn't stand behind their product. They will not help you to find someone to fix it. Be also careful with extended warranty as it doesn't cover the possibility of not paying for fixing broken parts. They willingly will collect your money. BEWARE. Buy from other stores (German, Polish, Italian) furniture where the quality shines.

I purchased a living room set from them. A reclining couch, reclining chair, & reclining chaise chair. This will be the second time now that my chaise chair has buckled. The first time it buckled Ashley took about a month & a half but they exchanged it. My new one is doing the same thing. I don't understand all the money I spent on this set why am I not satisfied. They definitely give you the run around when it comes to fixing, or getting a refund for the items you purchase with them. Not to mention I have a 5-year warranty and it hasn't even been six months yet.

PARIS, TEXAS -- We bought 2 of the larger Recliners from Texas Furniture. We have had to replace the foot rest handle 3 times in 1 and 2 time in the other. We even got a replacement on one of the chairs and it was a refurbish chair. We didn't notice it until we got it home. And I call and they said it was a floor model. its already broke again and the chairs are still like new. This sucks. I'm sure ill not buy another piece of Ashley furniture again. Now there telling me we can't get the handle anymore. As you can til I'm not a happy customer...

Defected Furniture
By -

MATTHEWS, NC, NORTH CAROLINA -- I experienced the worst experience I have ever had with buying anything when I purchased furniture from Ashley. Both recliners would not attach in place correctly. They come in two pieces and when attached together, the pieces left a large gap on both sides. An eye soar. Customer Care was terrible. Had to wait forever on the phone for a person. They wanted to send a repairman in two weeks!

I bought new furniture -- not discounted. Why should I need a repairman! We had to take them back to the warehouse (2 hour drive) then of course, they kept 10% of my money. No exceptions made to their policies for selling defected furniture and keeping part of our money. No apologies for the long drive we had to make and the use of our gas. Oh, they are great when you go in to buy! Oh, and the sales person told me to clean leather with saddle soap! No, not correct! Use warm water and mild soap and test a place first before doing so.

We are getting our money back! Less 10%. I would rather take a loss than have defected new furniture. Does that make sense to anyone-- defected chairs that "we will repair but you have to wait 2 weeks". What about trying this Ashley, "I am sorry, they will be replaced right away and we will come and get them or refund all your money." Do not buy from Ashley.

One more thing, do not give them your cell phone number. We entered a contest to win free furniture and put a cell phone number for contact. Now without our permission, we are getting text messages up to 4 times a day as a sales tactic!

Ashley Furniture Is Horrible

KATY, TEXAS -- I ordered a recliner in December and paid cash for the recliner and a $90 delivery fee. The salesman told me it would be no longer than 3 weeks for delivery because they did not have the chair in stock. He also said to give him a call if I did not hear from him then.

Of course 3 weeks went by and the salesman did not call. I called 5 times and left messages and he never called me back. Finally I spoke with the manager and he told me that the chair would be here the next week and he would call me to let me know exactly what date.

It's been over 5 weeks now and NO chair. Had I known it was going to take this long I sure would have gone somewhere else to spend my money. I had seen several other furniture items there I wanted but I will not purchase anything else from Ashley furniture again. Looks like I am going to have to file a lawsuit to get what I paid for.

Could Care Less About There Customers!!!

PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I bought a chair from them only to find the one I ended up with was nothing like the 2 identical chairs I sat in before buying this piece of junk. The seat is 6 inches higher in the front which makes it incredibly uncomfortable and my feet don't even touch the floor. The bottom of the back of the chair has a strip of Velcro on it so when I rock back it touches the floor and sticks to the carpet.

This in turn makes a wonderful "ripping" noise every time I rock. Who in the hell builds a chair like this? And of course they refuse to do anything about it at all. All I want at this point is for someone to help me adjust the front of the seat down so it feels like the ones at the store. They won't even do this for me. Shame on you Ashley furniture. You make me sick. I will be filing complaints with everyone I can find starting bright and early tomorrow morning.

Very Poor Quality, Poor Service
By -

ALEXANDRIA, LOUISIANA -- We bought two recliners from Ashley. Both had to be repaired within the first week. One recliner was replaced 5 times within the first few months and each new replacement had something wrong with it. Also, one replacement was supposed to be new, but was actually the floor model. How did we know? A broken part from one of our recliners was replaced with one from their floor model - the broken part was then put on their floor model.

A few weeks later when the other recliner broke, we were given a "new" one complete with the broken part from our other recliner. The broken part was a very distinguishable leather foot rest piece that had a stripped screw and a tear in the upholstery. Now, the recliners are 2 years old and both are broken beyond repair. Somehow for $450.00 a piece I would have expected them to last longer.

CARSON, LONG BEACH AREA, CALIFORNIA -- Recliner bought, in less than 1 year electrical mechanical component broke down. It was replaced - did not last more than 3 months. Warranty was over, no help. Soon after that the upper head section material torn, I was told it was due to hair oil. I do not sweat or use any hair oils, called it in, material was a leather substitute - very thin. Probably a $500-600 purchase. I will stay away from this store.
