*BEWARE!*

WASHINGTON -- ***BEWARE READ THIS BEFORE RENTING!!*** The policy of carrentals.com is that you must complete the contract with car rental agency at the exact moment of the reservation or earlier. If you are one minute late the reservation is no longer valid and the car rental can charge you any amount of money for the reservation. Even if the delay was due to shuttle pickup or a long line at the desk if you are one minute late your reservation is null and void. This was confirmed in a recorded call with Luis a supervisor from carrentals.com. If you book direct with the car rental companies you won't have to worry about this!!!!!!!

Very Un-Informative and Cheap Is Expensive in Their Case!

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY -- Ordered car online. Looked a little cheaper than others but unfortunately I did not read all the print. They DO NOT PROVIDE YOU CARS WITH INSURANCE!!! So you get charged whatever the local company want to charge you. I am not talking about basic insurance. NO INSURANCE AT ALL!!! No. it is better to use a company that gives you an all in price. I also got on the invoice a line saying 'includes Taxes and local charges" that was only airport tax but not local tax so I got stung with another 17%. So I ended up paying more money than if I ordered directly from the company. I recommend not to use!!

'Pay Now Special' Feature

Rating: 2/51

Like many other customers, I reserved a car rental for an upcoming trip and used the 'Pay Now Special' feature on their website. Circumstances arose and I was unable to use the car rental. Fox Rental was the supplier. I tried to cancel the reservation and was told that is not possible because of the 'PayNow' feature. I repeatedly spoke to associates at CarRentals and Fox saying that is a bad business practice. Of course, most people are looking for the best value for their money.

While the 'PayNow' feature offers that, you have no recourse if travel plans change. After communicating with CarRentals and having the cost of my insurance choices refunded only, I contacted Fox to ask for any further refunds or vouchers. Their answer to go back to CarRentals didn't get me anything either.

My question repeatedly is, Whose idea of quality customer service is that?? I know... a thing of the past. Still I, like many others are extremely unsatisfied with this business. We paid for rentals in good faith and the expectation of any problem solving would be in the customers' best interest. I really wanted to rate 1 Star but the phone contact folks were polite but had no power to do anything except say they were sorry.

CarRentals.com is a SCAM

DUBLIN, FLORIDA -- We made the reservation for a 9pax van with CarRentals.com months before our travel dates. When we arrived we were told the van wasn't available in Ireland, and were given a much smaller vehicle 7pax with no discount, further we were required to add insurance even tho we have insurance thru our credit card and home policy. the insurance was nearly twice what the car cost. after adding a GPS (which didn't work) the car rental was nearly 2k euro, way more than the original 600euro originally quoted. Then we found out that SIXT had the exact van we reserved available next door. No option to go from Europcar to Sixt was offered. Our vacation was compromised by forcing us to pay a lot more for a car too small for our group. The CarRentals.com website said nothing about the van not being available nor did they quote we were required to purchase the overpriced insurance. A big SCAM... We are notifying everyone we can of this company's poor business practices.

Car rentals.com is an absolute scam

Carrentals.com is an absolute scam. They are liars, cheats and thieves. They purport to offer the lower rates available, especially if you prepay. However, if you prepay, they claim the reservation is noncancellable. 5 minutes after doing a pay it now reservation trusting that I got the best fare available, I found a fare that was $230 CHEAPER directly on Budget's website for the same car and same rental period. I immediately contacted Carrentals. Amazingly, they offer NO CUSTOMER SERVICE whatsoever. It took me days to find a way to contact a human being and that person was incompetent and unwilling to help. "Luis", employee #2114856 refused to provide his last name or to refer me to a supervisor. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. THEIR FARES ARE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THOSE AVAILABLE DIRECTLY FROM THE RENTAL CAR COMPANIES. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I only wish I had checked the reviews from this company before booking through them. What a huge mistake I made. Don't make the same one. THEY SHOULD BE FORCED OUT OF BUSINESS.

Worst Experience- No Customer Service- Not a Serious Company

MCALLEN, TEXAS -- May 30th, 2018. I made reservations via internet for two minivans or similar thru CarRentals.com with Fox Rent a Car with a prepaid insurance. However, when arrived to the car rental booth at Mexico City airport, they said they did not have any minivan available and they did nothing to resolve the issue for us. They said they only had small cars available at the moment, but we were a group of 12 people traveling and that didn't work for us. Other car rental companies at the Mexico City airport didn't have minivans available either, so we had to use public transportation causing us a major problem in our vacation.

When I tried to get help from CarRentals.com customer service, I found out that I was alone and the only way to communicate with CarRentals.com is thru email, no customer service call in number. Do not use CarRentals.com to book a car. Not a serious company. Call the car rental company directly.

SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- Having recently rented a car from Fox San Diego via CarRentals.com, I wanted to convey my utter dismay and frustration. I dropped the car back at San Diego airport yesterday, to find my final bill was some $830, which was quite a contrast with my original bill from Car Rentals at $358. Having rented many cars previously and in particular many times from San Diego airport car rental center from various rental agencies, I have taken out my own annual insurance coverage for CDW and SLI.

However upon arrival at Fox I was told my booking didn't include basic insurance at all, so whilst I had my own coverage for CDW and SLI, there was no basic coverage. I was left with no option but to take Fox primary insurance at the desk and hence my rental cost increased from $358 to $830! I have never rented a car whereby the 3rd party renter (In this case CarRentals.com) did not provide any insurance at all.

It seems to be a mandatory requirement of any rental, as all customers require it, and clearly the customer will be horrendously overcharged for the primary insurance when at the mercy of the rental counter. In my opinion, unless I have been misled by Fox, and in actual fact primary insurance was included, I believe the policy of carrentals.com to be irresponsible and misleading.

4 Months After Rental, Still Dealing With Their Customer Service!

I was forced to cancel my reservation for not bringing the credit card I used purchased the rental in full for, already I'm like WTF? Once, I called to cancel and refund. There is $70 cancellation policy! Ridiculous! I waited 10 business days for the refund, Nothing. Called, the agent said they will re-process it. 10 business days later, Nothing.
Called again and now they put the blame on the car company. Says it's taken care of this time for sure. Another 10 business days later, nothing.

4th time I call, they can no longer find my case, reply to an email getting my name wrong. UNBELIEVABLE!
Called again, this time they say it might be a problem with the credit card and they will mail a cheque instead, wait 2-3 weeks, nothing. Made sure I dealt with a supervisor this time, still all they can say is SORRY (no offer of credit or waive of cancellation fee, nothing) and going through the same process again. Wait 10 business days. I'm surprised this company hasn't gone under, and I see why they avoid reviews option in their social media pages.
AVOID!!! **Should really have a ZERO star rating.

Super Bad Service

When I arrived at the Fox counter to pick up this car they noticed, to my surprise, that my driver's license was going to expire on Feb 8th, my contract was to the 9th, and they did not want to rent the car to me. I asked them to shorten the time and have the contract end on the 8th but they would not do that for me as I had booked through CarRentals.com. What they ended up doing is canceling this deal and renting to me for a much higher price. When I got home I sent 4 emails to CarRentals.com which they never answered and after talking to them by phone they refused to refund my money. I will NEVER use them again and suggest no one does.

Zero Customer Service

RENTAL SHAM -- I rented a vehicle last week in Germany. The agency was "Dollar", who is owned by Hertz. They were fraudulent and charged more than double the quoted amount. My invoice was given to me in German, and then additional charges were added on, after I turned vehicle back in, in perfect shape. I was also Forced to take multiple types of insurance, that was not previously disclosed. This is their self-insured placed insurance. The bill was almost $400 dollars US, for a 5 day small Ford basic vehicle. I was quoted $120.80 for the entire rental!!!

The non English speaking customer care advocates could care less if your house was burning down with you in it. Fortunately, I will sue a local "Hertz" office to effectuate legal service, and get a remedy. A typical example of a Wall Street company doing a fraudulent, "bait and switch". Then, as a bonus, "Expedia" does nothing but collect their commission! Don't waste your time with Expedia, or Carrentals.com, because there is no concern or customer service with this organization. Life is too short. Just avoid these bad companies.
