Deceptive Sales Practices

USA, NORTH CAROLINA -- I purchased a Galaxy S4 for my son. He wanted an iPhone 5 but the sales representative got him on the phone and explained to us that the S4 was cheaper and a better phone. He stated there were 2 rebates, 1 for $100 and 1 for $55. We would pay $600 up front, mail in the rebates, and pay only $445.00 total for the phone. He would also give us FREE phone insurance saving an additional $10.00 per month. Obviously there must have been some sales incentives to push the S4.

After phone activation, I didn't see any insurance listed for no-charge, so I called. Sure enough - "sorry, you don't have insurance and Sales reps can't give it free. That will be $10.00 per month extra if you want it." Also - be wary, I found out there is a $200 deductible anytime you use the insurance. I passed.

Next, they denied my $100 rebate and gave me the $55 rebate. They said only 1 per MEID number. "Sorry for the mix up." That is easy to say after they have your money. I'm trying to at least get the $100 rebate instead of the $55. One thing about rebates - Companies count on people not redeeming them and submitted claims being denied. I am so angry with them, I will file complaints with as many consumer organizations as possible. If I can save anyone from buying into their deceptive practices, I will be happy. As soon as I get this rebate, I am switching to another carrier as quickly as possible.

OHIO -- I was calling around to find internet service other than cable. I've never dealt with Cricket, but I know a lot of people who have their phones, a few had told me the store here doesn't answer their phone. They don't, so I drove out there and while I was there the guy's cell phone rang and he answered it. Guess that was more important.

Needless to say I bought the internet thingy and it's so slow I hardly ever use it. I am supposed to get a $30 rebate, but when I went to fill out the paper a few weeks later, it was written in Spanish. I can't read Spanish, so I drove out there because they don't answer the phone and he said they didn't have any in English. The cable guy is coming Monday! I'll also stick with Verizon, I know I'd never get one of their phones.

Horrible Customer Service

PORTLAND, OREGON -- I paid in advance in October for my November bill. Cricket then contacted me saying they had not received my payment. I faxed them the confirmation of payment they sent to me and my bank statement showing the money was taken out of my account by Cricket. I then decided enough was enough and took my service to another company requesting a refund for my pre-payment. This was on the day before Thanksgiving. I then was told I had to yet again fax the proof of payment over to them within 24 hours or I would not get my refund.

I spent my holiday seeking a fax machine to fax this info over to them. It is now December 26th and I have not yet received my refund. Cricket states that I need to again fax over the proof of payment again in within 24 hours to get my refund. I had been a customer for years before this and am incredibly upset that they sent me a card in the mail stating that I need not worry about my past due charges if I want to come back to them. WHAT PAST DUE CHARGES? They owe me.

Use of additional phone numbers from one cell phone

NORTH LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- If I am correct Cricket has a service where you can have one cell phone and at least 15 different cell phone numbers you can use. This has allowed a stalker that I have been restricting their calls to my Verizon cell phone for years now to have all these numbers to call me from like 200 times a day. Changing my cell phone number isn't the answer because anyone can get your new number on the internet sooner or later as has been the case. This stalker who I know personally thinks it's funny to call and lock down your voicemail, call all day preventing your usage of your cell phone and thinks this is preventing other women from calling you. I have restricted 14 different numbers. When you call the numbers back you get a message, "This number is not activated." Thanks Cricket,
for helping Stalkers with another tool to do their job. Who in the hell needs 15 different cell phone numbers in the first place ?

Bad Phone, Bad Service

CINCINNATI, OHIO -- I cannot get my phone fixed. They tell me to come back after they tried something, which never works. Then they tell me I need a new phone, tried that. I had a problem with that phone. They will trade it in again for another new phone. Cannot get response from anyone locally, they never return their calls, and never answer the phone. The latest phone I have takes forever to recharge, and the charge doesn't last long and they say there is nothing wrong with the phone or the battery. When I charge my phone if the battery goes out, I have to wait for approximately 2 hours to use the phone. What if I needed to call 911? I can't even do that.

Pay stations

Just want to say I really haven't had problems with Cricket except finding a pay station. I like to have control of my payments and don't like the idea of having payments taken out of my checking account whenever they feel like it. I noticed at first when I did make a payment via phone, they would take the payment out and then put it back in and then take it out again that I didn't like so I just started taking my payments into a store.

Problem is, most of the pay station stores close. You go there once or twice to make a payment and then go back and they are closed. So that's my concern, is having more pay stations available. Need to "beef" up the pay stations for Cricket here in Portland, Oregon. Thank you.

Don't Go With Cricket

I have experienced nothing but problems from Cricket. Customer Service was not able to activate my phone that I bought online. It took them forever to find me in their computer even though they were very prompt in charging my credit card for a full month's service and the phone. After I finally convinced them that I bought their phone; I was told that I did not have minutes on the phone. I would have to prove my payment was on my charge statement. Plus the fact that they could not activate my phone and told me that I had to go to an "authorized dealer" and they would activate it.

I took the phone to an "authorized dealer" and they would not help either since I did not buy the phone from them. I ended up sending the phone back, which I paid for the shipping and I hope I get a credit on my charge statement. I have wasted 8 hours or more. Beware of buying a phone online... I bought a phone paid for a month's service and could not use the phone since they could not activate it...

Lousy Service

KANSAS -- LOUSY - ABSOLUTELY LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE... I am one of those people who pay my bill in full every month, & whenever I try to go online to pay, the account won't let me pay, & when I send a note to their "support" I get no reply. Last month I was unable to pay online (I refuse to pay $3 fee for automatic phone pay) so my service was discontinued. When I finally got in touch w/ some operator in India, she made it seem like it was my fault, & said, "well, I will waive the late fee for you this month" like she was doing me a favor. I've run into the same problem this month. This is ridiculous service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY!!!

Where is Cricket's main office - is it HELL!

I have a Cricket phone and it's not working. I went into the Cricket store and talked to the employee. I told her I could not pay for the month, I misplaced my phone and I would pay for service when I found it! A month later found it had to be charged. I went and paid my bill also 10 dollar late charge. So the phone was turned on, 4 days later Cricket from hell turns off my phone! I called them and they said I had to pay for the month they did not provide service for.

Now as I was looking over my phone and under contacts scroll down to my phone number, it was no longer my number it was a different number. Basically they are ripping everyone off! And America is letting it happen, just as long it does not touch the. beware of Cricket license to steal!

The Worst Service Ever

I got a Cricket phone for my son and I could never reach him and finally when the phone just went dead, I went in and they kept telling me that we dropped it. I said, "No, we didn't." They were so nasty and I called like 10 times since I had the phone. We only had the phone for a few months and they would not replace the phone. I immediately canceled it and after I did they had the nerve to email me and say would I come back. They are worse than any company out there. The prices are cheap, but remember you get what you pay for. We only got it for the unlimited texting. Also, the CSR did not speak English and could not understand what I was saying when I did call.
