LEEDS, ALABAMA -- In my area, we have very limited choices for television. I started with DISH - horrible idea! I lost service constantly! I switched over to DirecTV. The quality of the service was fantastic! When hard times fell, I was unable to pay for the service for DIRECTV at $120 a month. There was no other choice other than to cancel our service after 3 years.

We decided to go with Charter - I think this was the worst decision yet. Charter was very cheap however you pay for what you get. The guide is outdated and the customer service team is a joke. I should have known better since their representatives do "door to door" pressure type of selling. To make this story short, I went back to DIRECTV. If you decide to go with DirecTV, you can use my reference code of ** and save $10 a month on top of the initial price for the first 12 months! If you get 10 people to use your reference code, you'll save an extra $10 for each person for 10 months! THANKS FOR READING MY REVIEW OF DIRECTV!

LYNN HAVEN, FLORIDA -- DirecTV is a great service if all you watch are shopping channels or religious channels (there are an abundance of both). Of course, you can only watch during sunny weather. Any sign of rain and the signal drops out. What a total scam!!!! Stay away from DirecTV... Wish someone had told me the truth before I signed up.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- Simply because they are spending millions on TV ads to push their product, DIRECTV would like us to believe that their SERVICE is the best on the planet, but that couldn't be further from the truth. For an entire year my TV reception was deplorable and when I complained to their Customer Support and Technical Service, nothing was accomplished but I was treated rudely and disrespectfully.

So when I cancelled their service I was billed over two hundred dollars plus a two hundred dollar disconnect fee. This amount, which I will never pay, has been on my credit report for over ten years. To make matters worse, when I recently wrote to the company, I was told they only had one complaint from me in the entire year.

If you are thinking about signing up with this fraudulent TV service, you ought to think twice. Look online at other negative reviews and read about the similar nightmares other patrons have faced. I can say that I used Comcast in my area and was very satisfied for over ten years. Let the buyer beware.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA -- DIRECTV customer service is horrible!! I've been a customer for over 9 years, and I called to get a HD receiver and DVR (already have 3 with DIRECTV). I was told I had to pay $199, and after asking why I had to pay so much, I was told I could get $50 off. I was not satisfied, and was transferred to supervisor. She said the best she could do was another $20. I told her I would change to DISH, and she said there was nothing she could do.

I changed to DISH and called to cancel and was told I was on a contract and would have to pay a penalty of $160 or so. I am beyond upset. If the first person had given me the free receiver or had told me I was on contract I would not have changed. I will tell this to my friends about my experience with your customer service!!

They were outrageously expensive, not flexible and charged a huge fee to terminate service. I will never use them again!

DALLAS -- Ava and Eve were given an opportunity to provide some real customer service tonight. Instead, they continued reading from a script and telling me what the contract states. I recently got Time Warner, and I cannot believe how much better the TV package/service is. I feel ridiculous for having DirecTV so long.

EL SEGUNDO, CALIFORNIA -- We were paying $170 per month for Direct, and had its service for 12 or more years. When we discovered Netflix at $8.99 and tried it, there was no way to compare. Direct is a joke compared to Netflix. So, we cancelled Direct. Direct said that we would be charged $320 on our credit card for a cancellation fee if we did. We never gave Direct permission to charge our account, and we called in the payment each month and gave a credit card number. We got statements in the mail each month and assumed we were safe from what we would learn would be done dishonestly by Direct.

When we told Direct that it never had permission to charge us on the card, Direct said no matter, it had our card number and would charge it $320 anyway and there was nothing we could do about it. Here is the solution if you have given Direct a credit card number. If you have Visa, you will probably have to cancel the card and ask for another. If you have American Express, it will put a 4 year block on the card from Direct charges. Do this before cancelling Direct. Just a little time on the phone will do it. Then, and only then, cancel Direct. And tell them to go pound sand. Direct's home office is at 2230 East Imperial Hwy, El Segundo, 90245 and its president is Michael **.

Direct may try to put your non-payment on your credit as a bad report, but sometimes you have to incur such things when dealing with thieves. If you want to make the change over a few months, you can switch to having the bills sent to you by mail and then cancel the Visa. Visa told me it would be 10 days before I could use the card again. If you ask Direct to bill you by mail so you can use a check to pay, it may tell you that it will charge you $2.00 each month for the mail billing service, and you can see why. Direct is like Ebola; once you get it, you can't get rid of it.

I am a landlord and own a multi-family property in NH. One of my tenants installed DirecTV. My first complaint is that DirecTV never sought to get my permission as the owner of the property before they put holes in the roof to attach their dish. My second complaint is that now that the tenants have left and I have discovered that the dish has been leaking into the attic and destroying the ceiling, the DirecTV customer service department and corporate office refuse to come out and repair their shoddy installation. In fact, the customer service supervisor even informed me that, "Maybe you should get on a ladder and repair it yourself."

What kind of company doesn't back up their installation? What kind of company circumvents the property owner and installs anyway? A bad company, that's what DirecTV is. I know that cable is more $$ per month, but surely you do not want a leaky roof or to deal with terrible customer service.

NEW YORK -- I had been with DirecTV for over three years. This July, a billing charge came through on an earlier date than we had agreed upon with DirecTV billing. The charge would have over drafted my account if the bank had not given a short term loan for the amount charged. The amount charged was also $20 over what was the actual charge because of extra false charges for two extra TV's that we never have had and HBO which we never ordered. I disputed the charge and they allowed us a "credit" that was applied to the early cancellation fee charged when I got tired of their crap and canceled service.

Unfortunately, everything was "on contract" and there was nothing I could do about it. On top of it, when I called DirecTV about this fiasco, the billing service representative ended up hanging up on me! I know one thing, I will never ever allow my bank account to be connected to automatic billing again for anything. At this time, I am trying to get included in a class action lawsuit about early cancellation fees with DirecTV.

RENO, NEVADA -- I posted this previously in a site for activists against DIRECTV. All the people there were scammed by DTV as well and you can review the banter and make an informed decision which I am sure will lead to you deciding against DTV as your carrier. I have also asked them to post on every Facebook site that advertises DTV and that we all go in search of Google and other sites to post our grievances on so that the public can view them and know not to get involved in DIRECTV's scams.

They are dishonest and very legally binding in their thievery. Look for our posts on all DTV sites before you sign up and save yourselves! Check out DIRECTV Sucks!! In your FB search engine and see more posts. And do not sign up! Following is what they did to me that made me promise them I would be their worst nightmare! Please review it!

My bill with DIRECTV changed every month also. I dropped services constantly and they edited my basic charges to make sure I was not paying under what they wanted me to pay. They said this was in their contract, and there was a small loophole in it that does allow them to change "basic rates" while in contract. So I was locked in for 3 years and they changed my basic rates about 4 times in 1.5 years of that time.

I just left them and it took over a week to get the stuff to send it all back via the mail. Then they hit my act for $166 final charges in early disconnect fees 15 days after the day I said I wanted to cancel. They said this is in the "contract", the "contract" for this being that they put on the last bill that they will bill you 15 days after disconnect "for your convenience". THAT IS NOT A CONTRACT. But since I had given them banking payments it opened the gates for them to steal legally from me. I have reversed the charges via my bank.

From all of the other posts I have seen, they will try to re-bill me again. I have allotted for that money to be a tug of war match until I get the actual money from Charter whom are buying out my disconnect charges for switching over. This may also be a good option for any of you in the NV area who have, like me, signed up for a contract with these thugs. IF YOU HAVE NOT SIGNED UP WITH DIRECTV DON'T!
