Customer Service Is Dead at Sony Style
By -

Sony salespeople are less than proactive and are near the useless point. I ordered the new 52XBR9 from Luke, he took my info, said it would ship in 2 weeks. I received no emails, so I called Sony Style CS, after over an hour on the phone and many transfers; I was told the order did not exist. My bank did not allow that much on the card, sure my fault, but you would think the sales guy would have called me to let me know, it was a $4000 sale after all. So I tried it again with Brandon, he could not honor the prices that I received from Luke, but after talking to his Mgr., he said he would refund the extra after I received the TV. It would ship the next Monday.

I checked the order status on Tuesday, they said it was scheduled to ship in 2 weeks, WHAT? This is from Sony, not some deadbeat website with one star. I was very upset. So I thought I would wait. I am a very impatient man, so on that Thursday, I was emailed by a reputable online site that the TV was in stock and at over $400 less that Sony Style wanted. I jumped on that and canceled the Sony Style order.

People we as consumers do not have to put up with slow, incompetent, poor speaking customer service. DEMAND GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE or take you business elsewhere. No more will I try to buy from Sony Style.

The Ultimate Nightmare Is My New Sony Desktop VGC-LT29U
By -

CALIFORNIA -- My new expensive Vista Ultimate desktop and pair of hybrid ATI TV "WONDER" Digital cable tuners are a Ultimate nightmare! The Sony system has failed to get a HDTV signal for most of 7 weeks on a new expensive system, straight out of the box. I think consumers deserve to be warned, the desktop cannot even detect the tuners and all are "certified for Vista".

Sony customer support cannot fix my desktop. Basically they put you on hold and then cut off the call. I went to customer support for ATI, two other customers have the same problem, one has been asking for help for 4 months! If you want to waste tons of money, time and still not have a working computer or TV, Sony is perfect.

Sony Not Honoring Recall
By -

I sent my VGN-S360 in as part of Sony's own recall for spontaneous reboots. My serial number falls in the range of units that is guaranteed to have the problem, so no matter what, the recall would require the motherboard be replaced. Sony service is claiming "liquid damage" and not only not honoring the recall, they're trying to charge $1939 for the repair. Yes, far more than a new, improved laptop would cost.

After looking around it seems like Sony frequently claims "liquid damage" for repairs that should be on their dime. This is especially dumb, since the recall requires replacement of the whole motherboard, so ANY other issues with the motherboard are in fact irrelevant if the recall was truly being honored. The fictitious damage they're claiming has no effect on them at all, since the fault in the recall is caused by a faulty motherboard. I'm getting them to send it back and taking it in for extended warranty service, which has always treated me honestly. Shame on you Sony. If you're not going to honor a recall, don't issue one.

Dvd Replacement Policy Is Buy It Again
By -

Not long ago I bought The Adventures of Milo and Otis on DVD. My daughter has cracked the disc. Since I have already paid for the title - and since the entertainment industry has made it technically impossible for me to make a perfectly legal backup copy - I would expect that Sony Pictures would have a program in place to replace the disc for a nominal fee. However, this is not the case according to the email I received from Customer Relations: "Unfortunately, our Company Policy does not include the replacement of product due to damages of this nature."

I should not have to buy any DVD title again to replace a damaged disc. For a reasonable fee, such as the $6.95 that Disney charged when my daughter got her hands on Dumbo, Sony should be ready to replace the disc. As I already stated, I would have made a backup copy of it, but companies like Sony apparently want to have their cake and eat it, too. I refuse to pay full price again just to have a disc replaced.

Seinfeld Collection/Great Job
By -

Bravo to Sony Pictures for putting out the first 3 seasons of Seinfeld. The collection is great (watched all 3 seasons in two days) plus salt/pepper shaker from Monks and the deck of cards. (Too funny) I pre-ordered last August and got my movies the first day of release. Amazon, at their best. It has lots of hours of extra footage well worth more than the asking price. I heard a lot of bootleg copies for those who wouldn't wait for the release. SHAME! If you are looking for the perfect gift, these people did a great job. Happy shopping.

FORT MYERS, FLORIDA -- I purchased a Sony paying more for a TV than necessary. Don't make the same mistake. I have other flat screen TVs that are better quality and cost about half as much as the Sony. Don't purchase a TV based on the name. There are others that are less expensive and have much better quality and customer service. I would never buy a Sony product again!!!

Webcam Not Repaired
By -

My laptop from Sony Vaio is still under warranty and the webcam stopped working. I have been trying to have it fixed by Sony for more than a month and they just postpone it. I contacted the company more than 10 times and every time they just say that a service order will be opened and between 5 to 10 business days I will be contacted. But the point is that they never contact me back and they also don't let me take my computer to a retail location. I don't know what else I can do.
