Stream Energy customer service saved our Christmas
By -

This is my first time ever commenting about a company. I was so pleased by the excellent customer service I received at a time when I needed it the most. A week before Christmas I lost my job because the transmission went out on my car, therefore I wasn't able to pay all my bills. A customer service representative actually listened to me and helped save Christmas for me and my 3 boys.

If it had not been for this act of kindness we would have had a miserable holiday. Since I've been with them I have been treated with respect and dignity. Compared to my previous service provider this is a good company and I would recommend Stream Energy to anyone looking to switch.

Worst of the worst!!!

TEXAS -- This is the worst power company ever! I have lived in various States and had never had a problem with disconnection and interruption of service. These scam artists will disconnect your service if you don't pay it within 3 days of your invoice arrival. I don't recommend this company not even to my worst enemy.

Just change my service provider and will NEVER ever go back to them! I guarantee that if I could get a cent for every complaint to this company's customer service, I would already be a millionaire. Also, there's not one worth customer service agent working at this company. They must have very weak hiring process and expectations! Sign up with them and you'll remember my review...

Stream Energy Is A Joke!

PO BOX 192746, TEXAS -- Things happen and we get behind so I usually pay my bill 2 days after its due (usually payday), but EVERY month I receive a disconnection notice that is dated ONE day after my bill is due, and most of the time I have already mailed payment. GIVE ME A BREAK. The disconnection notice is usually set to take place 14 days after it was originally due.

On the disconnection notice they will state "to call if you need to work out a payment plan or make other arrangements." Well I did and guess what - they said they cannot help me set up an alternative option or a payment plan because I have had more than 3 disconnections in 12 months. Well no $$$, you send me a disconnection a day after its due I wouldn't have had time to even pay it late!

This is the only electric provider that I have had this problem with! When I was with Reliant I would get 2 months of a bill before they disconnected. I don't even go into that long of default anymore. I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER recommend signing up with them. They only care about making their money. It's not about customers.

Best There Is

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I move to Houston 4 years ago and have been with Stream the entire time. I have never had a complaint. I have the lowest electric bills of anyone I know in Houston who does not have Stream. I have spoken with customer service many times and never had a problem. I am buying a house in another city and the first thing I did was find out if they service that area. I will never leave Stream. I average bills around $70.00 in a 3200 sq ft house with the thermostat on 72 most of the time. Stream is stuck with me and anyone else I can refer. Peace out!

Stream Energy Bites

TEXAS -- I just paid, reluctantly, my final bill with Stream Energy. I'd been having obscenely high light bills. I contacted Stream over and over and about the best they could do was sent me an impersonal form letter over the internet. No one contacted me, no one worked with me, nothing. I had a bill from them for $600 dollars a few months ago. Are you kidding me??? I am on a fixed budget, my son and I may as well live in a tent for all the electricity we use, never turning on the central heat/air.

After that, the bills were always around $300. I have a small house and I have friends with much bigger homes that run their central air or heat constantly and their bills (with a different provider) are less than half what mine had been with Stream. I can't tell you what a hardship it's been paying Streams bills and I KNOW I paid them thousands more than they were legally entitled to. I am HIGHLY upset.

Another thing, the day after your bill was due, they are already calling you on the phone and pink slipping you. The only reason I paid this ridiculously high final bill is because I'm trying to improve my credit. I'm sure these ** at Stream would have turned me over to collections had I not paid it.

Late Fees Bogus
By -

ROSWELL, GEORGIA -- I pay all my bills through a bank bill pay service. Never been late on any of them. Until Stream Energy. My bank sent the check to Stream well before due date, but it took 10-12 days to get posted. Stream charged me a $10 late fee! I called customer (no) service and the woman I spoke with (on hold for 20 mins.) was unsympathetic and tried to make it my fault. So they now have my $10 and I will change providers as soon as my 6 month commitment is over. The $10 is not a life changing event, but I refuse to be treated poorly. Don't switch to Stream!!

I Have Been Very Happy With My Stream Energy Service.

I told a friend about Stream Energy. She admitted that she is very reluctant to ever make changes in anything, but had decided not to go with Stream because of some bad customer reviews she had read. Since I have had their service, both commercial and residential accounts, for a bit over a year, I have had NO complaints. And... Yes... I have had to deal with customer service a few times. Was customer service the best? Can't say "yes" to hardly any company anymore on THAT question, including Stream. However, my problems were resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner.

I didn't read ALL of the complaints, but it is quite apparent to me that several of them are bogus. They make claims that are not only particular to just Stream Energy, but to ALL electric companies, and some that are downright false. One complaint from September 2009 was definitely bogus. It was a complaint about being locked into 2 years of a high price. Stream does not even have a 2 year lock. Just thought that I would put in a good word for them. You usually only hear from people when they want to complain!

Heart of Stone

DALLAS, TEXAS -- I was told on several occasions not to renew with Stream Energy, having been with the same electric company for three years without any serious problems I went ahead and renewed with them. I asked my representative if Stream had a payment plan if I couldn't pay my bill and was told that it was three a year and every year would start over after renewing a contract. This would help since I'm on a fixed income and utilities are high around winter time.

This year was not any different, having just renewed my Stream contract in October I called for a payment plan for my over 300.00 bill and was told that I did not qualify because I already had made three payment plan arrangement plans with them.

I'm 87 years old and dealt with very rude customer service representatives. I was allowed to pay after I receive my Social Security check on the third of next month but then I'll have another big bill. I have tried a discount program but don't qualify because my retirement and Soc Security is 1200.00 a month. I just wish to discourage anyone to not sign up with this electric company, talking to customer service is like talking to a robot. I can hardly wait until my contract is up.

Stay Away From Stream Energy
By -

Stay away from Stream Energy! We initially paid our Stream Energy bill on 5/8/09 by check via mail. On 5/21/09 we received a disconnect notice from Stream Energy! The disconnect notice gave the date of 5/19/09 as the disconnect notice (notice this day is already past when we receive the notice!) We paid the bill again the next morning (5/22/09) from our checking account online since we wanted to avoid disconnection. Please note, we have not received ONE phone call or email from Stream Energy notifying that they had not received our payment! If we would have known we could have investigated and done something about it!

Today, 5/26/09 our electricity is turned off! We called and made an ADDITIONAL payment plus $44.00 "priority" reconnect notice. After I paid the $44 they notified me that the reconnect still would be approximately 48 hours. We have now paid the bill three times and no power. They kept transferring me around the company and kept blaming another department for the problems. Don't give yourself an extra headache... It's not worth the few cents you are saving with Stream.

Stream Energy is Dishonest and Greedy
By -

TEXAS -- I considered switching from my previous electric company because Stream (verbally) assured me a lower rate. When the 1st bill arrived it was at the same rate as my former electric provider. Unfortunately enough time had passed that I could not opt out of the agreement. Several months later I sold my house. When I contacted Stream to let them know the cut-off date, they told me I had to provide proof of a new address or they would charge me with an early termination fee of $250.

I provided both a faxed picture of driver's license with new address as well as the sales/settlement agreement from the title company showing the sale of my house. Still they sent the $250 fee to a collection agency. Because I am lawfully in the right, I will fight this action as well as report them to the appropriate authorities. Their actions are considered harassment and defamation of credit character. All of the contacts by phone proved to be rude and unproductive on their part. I cannot imagine how a company who is so rude and dishonest can stay in business. I strongly urge others to stay away from Stream Energy.
