Waste of Time and Money

NAPERVILLE, ILLINOIS -- I have been a long time Toyota owner, my second truck came with the platinum warranty. The first time I used it at Naperville Toyota my engine was revving too high. I was told nothing was wrong but he said my power steering was going bad. It was replaced. While driving home the steering wheel was out of alignment. I took it back the next day and was told I more than likely hit a bump. I had to argue with the manager and it was fixed. 3 weeks later my blower for the heat and air was going out. I brought it in. The guy gave it a smack and said, "There you go."

A month later I was back in with the blower shot. Now my truck less than 5 years old leaks whenever it rains. Leaks inside the truck. I took it in and was told leaks are not covered in my platinum warranty. Who sells a truck that leaks? Now know this since I have had this truck 2 of the mud flaps have fallen off, the glove box broke, adhesive strips in back seat, falling off. Seat belt anchor covers falling off. If it's plastic it will not be there long. I will add the manager offered to look at it when I called back to tell her how upset I was. I will be buying a new truck soon and it won't be a Toyota. No more wasted trips.

2002 Toyota Sequoia Transmission Defect
By -

We have a 2002 Sequoia with 122K miles. Our transmission went costing us approx. $4,600.00. I have been researching this issue online and found others have the same issue as we do. Now this truck cost between 42k to 48k or so and 8 years later I am changing the freaking trans. How the HACK (used lightly), does Toyota or any other automaker get away with this stuff? I also have been researching to see how we could get Toyota held responsible for this piece of ** trans.

I will continue to research and blog, in addition to telling everyone who I come across who has the same problem, telling them to go to EVERY website and complain. The transmission should have been recalled. Attorneys please respond accordingly...

Toyota Recall Devoid Of Pertinent Access To The Company
By -

Though elated by the Toyota recall, I feel a sense of dismay based on the attitude of the Toyota dealers. The only information they seem willing to give is a number they claim Toyota instructed them to give to its customers. The major problem with that is, the number never gets answered. To my way of thinking, the recall is useless if it's impossible to contact the company who in spite of their own recall, leaves the customer at the mercy of the dealerships.

It is my opinion also that the dealerships should offer more than just ''call Toyota'' who never answers. People's lives could be at stake and more support should indeed be given to their customers. If they don't really care, they should at least pretend. Thanks!

Horribly Bad Customer Service from Toyota Financial Services
By -

If you lease or finance from Toyota Financial Services and ever plan to move from one State to another... Don't even think about moving!!! Toyota Financial will do nothing to move your title along to the DMV. It's worse than pulling teeth and even when they tell you time after time that it was sent, believe me (and the dealership), it probably wasn't. Now we have expiration and late fees to deal with thanks to these lying cheats!!

Even the dealership that sold us the car has said to beware of this company... Imagine that!! A Toyota dealership telling their potential customers that dealing with their Financial services dept. could be a big mistake. I've dealt with James in AZ, and 2 supervisors named Matt and Gentry, all have blatantly lied through their teeth. "Beware, they do NOT care!!" Words of warning from the Toyota dealership themselves... A little too late for me!

Incompetent Toyota Financial Services
By -

In July, '09, I did all the necessary paper work to transfer automatic debit of my lease from one bank to another. It is now October, & it still hasn't been transferred by Toyota Financial Services, even though I have spent hours on the phone & computer w/ them; & they assure me it will be done; but meanwhile, but they still haven't, & repeatedly & ridiculously charge me a late fee! I'm paying for their incompetence!! I don't know what is going on there. They should all be fired.

I have been a Toyota customer for many years, have never been late in making payments because I've had them automatically debited. It is so frustrating that Toyota Financial Services cannot institute this, & instead charge me a late fee. When my present lease w/ Toyota is up, I'll never deal w/ them again.

Misleading Sales Practices
By -

ORANGE, CALIFORNIA -- I bought a 2010 Corolla on July 3. The car is fine BUT when we got to the finance guy, we were put through the wringer. He lied about the security system on the Corolla. It has an engine immobilizer, he said there was no security system. He DID NOT offer the Toyota system but some after market system which is barely adequate. We wanted an extended warranty. He DID NOT tell us where could buy it later. We were also grossly overcharged for it.

I expected to be treated fairly and honestly and we were not. We will take the car elsewhere for service and we will never set foot in that dealership again. Do not buy a car or have one serviced there. Several of my friends have told me they will go elsewhere.

Bad Heads On 3.0 V-6 Engines
By -

Toyota had a big recall on their heads starting in 1998. They recalled all of their trucks, Suvs, etc. They put a new head gasket on them and put a 100,000 mile,3yr warranty on them and said we are done with it. Well my 1992 head gasket was replaced at 68,389, it made it to 156,000 and blew again, so I put a new set on and there is still white smoke rolling out of the tail pipe.

Further research has confirmed that there is a manufacturer defect in the heads themselves. This is on Toyota and they are not owning up to it. I think that if you pride yourself in excellence then you need to be excellent and right now Toyota is not. This is their fault and they need to make it right. I used to take pride in owning 8 Toyota's in my life but right now I feel like selling both of my Toyota's and going and buying a Nissan. Maybe they will stand by their trucks.

Repos

EL PASO, TEXAS -- I have been reviewing many of your complaints and first thing first for those about repossession. You have to be 60+ days past due in most cases in order to be issued for repo. During the 5+ days Toyota calls you and tries to set up arrangements in which most of the time they are avoided given wrong numbers or unable to establish an arrangement which effectively satisfies the past due amount.

2nd in most states a cure notice is issued between 45-49 days past due. Advise you that you have so many days to take care of your payment before you go up for review for repossession. Now for all of you who have a payment not applied to your account most accounts have to at least be 3 payments past due. So where are the other two?

Toyota Vehicle Parts Costs Are Absurdly Excessive
By -

NATION WIDE -- I am a Toyota owner and overall they are quality cars and trucks. Unfortunately, when repairs become necessary, the costs of replacement parts is absurd. My wife's 2003 Corolla that I bought brand new and has 47,500 miles on it needs a replacement front brake caliper. The quoted cost of this simple part is $371.88. To put this in perspective, the cost of a new brake caliper for a Ford F-150 1/2 ton truck is $70.00. The Toyota caliper does not come with brake pads so there is an additional cost there. Previously, when my 1990 Toyota truck needed a new alternator, the cost was $500.00. Consider this a warning to all who are considering buying a new or used Toyota.

Overall they are a great car but when something mechanical goes wrong, it will cost you an enormous amount to repair. This is where Toyota makes a significant profit, however, this also demonstrates an extremely greedy company that takes advantage of its customers.
