Customer No Service
By -

XM Radio called us last month because our subscription was about to expire. We told them that we no longer needed the service because the radio was broken. They said okay. We thought that was the end of it. Until we got a bill in the mail. When I called to tell them it was a mistake they told me that because we did not call them and tell their cancellation dept. that we wanted to cancel they never cancelled the service.

Then they told me that I had to pay the balance to close the account. Otherwise they would just send me to collections. I spoke to three people and they all said the same thing. I feel like it was fraud because when we told the person on the phone we no longer wanted the service they never told us that we had to call a certain dept. to cancel. Instead they just billed us anyway. What a rip off. I will never use this company again.

XM Billing nightmare
By -

I cancelled my XM radio account in March. XM decided to continue billing me two months after I cancelled. When the last attempt to continue billing me was returned, they charged me two additional fees on top of the two extra months. I never heard anything about this until I was called from a collection agency. XM never bothered to contact me directly. After four hours on numerous phone calls I finally had to pay them for months of service after I cancelled and fees for payments I had never authorized in order to protect my credit rating.

They never returned any of my calls, and bluntly XM is the most unprofessional billing department I have EVER encountered. If you get XM service, then know if you cancel your subscription they will continue to bleed money from you in an immoral and unethical way. In short, STAY AWAY FROM XM!

Customer Service From XM Is Horrible
By -

Stay away from XM! I was a loyal customer for years, but that has changed. Their customer service is horrible now. I have been trying since Jan. 10 to fix the problems their billing department has caused with my account. You cannot trust what they tell you. Even when you have them repeat back what you just told them to make sure they understand, they still get it wrong. Being on hold for an hour every time you call them is not unusual. Happened to me at least 6 times since Jan.

Plus, their system always seems to "updating." If you are trying to work through something with the customer service representative and the system randomly goes into update mode, then anything they had just done to fix the problem does not go through and you have to call back and start from square one. Plus, you have no idea when their system will not be updating, so it's a crapshoot as to if your call will be successful or not.

On just one call, they kept me on hold for 45 min. just to tell me, "Sorry, call back later, our system is updating." I have lost hours this year trying to work things through. I say again, stay away from XM! I haven't tried Sirius, yet, but my God, it has to be better.

Immoral Thieves With Zero Integrity - Complete Scam Artists - Buyer Beware!

I called to cancel my service and after being on hold for over 20 minutes, I paid my final bill and asked for the service to be cancelled. I was told to hold again and after waiting for a long period of time I hung up because my bill was settled and I already cancelled my service. However I received another bill for $16.59 and so I called them and was put on hold for over 20 minutes again and they said I never cancelled service because I hung up before speaking to the leeches who try to get you to keep the service at a discounted rate. I said I wouldn't pay and was told I had to or I would be turned over to a collection agency.

At this point I'm furious and my wife is saying to just pay it, so I did. Which is of course what they are counting on. If I had it to do over again I would've told XM to spend hundreds of dollars to try to recoup $16.59. Bottomline is this company is the antichrist and I hope they all burn in hell for treating customers this way. I will let everyone I meet till the day I die, to steer clear of this morally bankrupt company. Their business tactics are criminal!

Do Not Bill in Timely Fashion to Cancel Service
By -

In the last month I received a bill letting me know that it was time to renew the service after one year. As I do not use the service I chose to cancel the service. I noticed on the bill that the service ended on 5/28 but I didn't receive the bill until 2 weeks later. I immediately called the service and after multiple times of being bounced off the call or on hold for long periods of time I got through to an operator. To say the least I was very upset by their phone service only to reach a rude and hard to understand operator. I explained I wished to cancel the service and was told I would have to pay for the service between the end of my contract and that day.

I explained that I just received the bill. She said they sent the bills two weeks ahead of the due date and the postal service was to blame. I live in a metropolitan area with great postal service and there is no way it would take 4 weeks to get a letter. XM Satellite Radio abuses its customers' trust by not doing business in a timely fashion and using that as an excuse to charge their customers additional fees. And on top of this, despite my expressed anger with the company they continue to try to get me to resubscribe. I have heard others say the same thing about the company and would never use the product again or recommend it to friends.

Inability to cancel
By -

Do not ever subscribe to XM unless you want to pay them for the rest of your life. I have been trying to cancel my service for 3 months. I cannot get through to anyone on the phone. The last time I was on hold for only 5 minutes until I got a person, then she had to transfer me to another department to do the cancellation.

I was on hold for 22 minutes before I gave up. This is how it works. I guess I will cancel my credit card that it is billed to, however I am assuming they will then put something on my credit report for "non-payment". This is absolutely shameful, extremely stressful, and frustrating. I am at the end of my rope with this company. I have tried to send emails. They responded saying I have to call to verify that I am the subscriber. I have provided my account number and my billing address in the email, as the first email told me to.

Charge for XM in two cars I don't have for over a year!
By -

XM is a scam. They will charge you and not pay you back. I was charged for 2 1/2 years for a car that I had traded in back in July of 2008. I thought I was paying on the cars we currently drive until today I saw that my account had been debited over $800.00 for the renewal of two three year subscriptions. These charges were never authorized. I had been paying for someone else's XM in the Avalanche for the past year and half and had no idea.

When I told XM that I had canceled the service in July of 2008 they said "our notes show that you just said you weren't using the car that much and wanted to cancel". They can type whatever they want to into their computer and that makes it the law. The customer service reps are inhumane and the customers are not first. I would not recommend XM service to anyone.

Cannot Get a Refund
By -

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- I cancelled my XM Radio in December and was told I would receive a credit to my credit card in 7-10 days. After 7 phone calls, I still have no credit. I am told over and over that it is being processed. A month ago I called and asked for a supervisor who told me there was a problem, but she would expedite it. A message on my phone 3 days later told me I have been issued the credit.

Not seeing it on my credit card, I called again and was told the credit was issued to my XM account as a credit - not to my credit card. I then asked for a supervisor, who told me it was being processed. I told him what I had just been told about it being credited to my XM account and he would not hear it. They should not be in business (but I want my $347.32 first).

Fraudulent Billing Practice
By -

I purchased a New 2009 Chevrolet that came with a 3-month free subscription to XM Radio. During the 3 month period I received several requests to renew my service. I was offered a 12-month subscription for $77.00 and decided to renew. The same day I renewed the $77.00 was deducted from my credit card. At the end of my free 3 months my service was terminated and I called XM Customer Service. They informed me that they had not received any payment from me for renewal.

I spoke with several customer service representatives over the next three months and finally they provided me a fax number for the billing department. I faxed a letter to the XM billing department with a copy of the credit card statement showing the $77.00 deduction, and never received a reply.

Contacted a customer service representative, a month later, who appeared to be very helpful and during our telephone conversation he contacted billing and said they had my request for a refund and were processing it. That was in November 2009 and to date I have not received any refund or information from XM Radio. I attempted to fax another letter to the billing department but the telephone number is no longer in service.

HORRIBLE customer service
By -

I've been on the phone with them for two hours now, and still on hold. They've hung up 3 times, so now I'm going on the 4th call to them. The 2nd person I spoke to switched the plan to a new annual plan as of today's date when I did NOT authorize it. 3rd person I spoke to is offering a refund and to continue service, so I put her on hold (she said OK to being on hold) and she hung up. Now I'm calling again and I get to explain the entire situation again. I hope their company dies in this recession.
