Junk Electrolux Washer and Dryer - Very Poor Support

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO -- Purchased Electrolux front load, top of the line, washing machine and dryer. Paid just shy of $4000.00. Purchased on 5/05/2012. Since, the washer has had (8) service calls. (4) items have been repaired... feet, shock, bearings and a seal. It runs louder now than it did when we first complained.

During the process of fixing the washer, the dryer quit. This quit on 3/7/2013. Since we have been lied to by corporate plus given false hope on many occasions. Big Sandy where we purchased the items, does not respond to any calls. The repair shops lie and deceive at every opportunity. $4000.00 and we have to go to the laundromat for the last (5) weeks. And, we still don't have any idea when these items will be repaired. Electrolux corporate offices, Big Sandy or the repair shop seem to care if we ever get fixed.

Inferior Quality Kitchen Appliances

NORFOLK, VIRGINIA -- A couple of years ago I remodeled my kitchen and purchased all electrolux ss appliances: french-door refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, double oven, and icon cook-top.

Refrigerator: broken ice-maker (had it repaired numerous times to no avail), rubber seal around the freezer drawer has long cracks in many places (needs replacement), the metal frame of the freezer has rust stains where two pieces connect (electrosucks told me that's normal for their appliances).

dishwasher: leaks at the bottom-right-side (i keep a small container under it), the top rack does not clean (only use the bottom rack), the rubber seal around the door is frayed and soft.

microwave: the first one was dead-on-arrival (hired a tech to disconnect it and returned it). Replaced it with a different brand.

Double oven: does not cook evenly.

icon cook-top: hard to turn on/off.

electrosucks has the worst service department. Not only they refuse to take responsibility for inconveniencing you, but also verbally abuse you by claiming that there is something wrong with you. Do not expect a reasonable resolution to the defects of their products. Once you buy their inferior products, expect a litany of technicians coming to your house with replacements parts that do not permanently repair the problem. Their appliances are inherently faulty.

Horrible Warranty Policies

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA -- Purchased a new washer along with the dryer and pedestals in March 2012. Washer started putting bleach stains on clothes. After ruining several pieces of clothing, I called for service. The first service call was very prompt. Because bleach was involved, the tech replaced 3 parts all dealing with the dispensing of the bleach. This repair didn't work. I spoke with the service company and they indicated that there was nothing else they could do and that this problem has happened before, so after bleaching several more pieces of clothing I called Electrolux again.

They said that they needed to send someone out again, so I told them what the repair company had said. They needed verification that the machine was not repairable. It took quite some time for this to happen. I had stopped using bleach in the machine, but somehow it was still bleaching clothes. I would call, and nobody would get back to me. Finally, after about a month and 15 pieces of ruined clothing at a cost in excess of $800, they authorized replacement of the washer.

After making sure the new washer was working properly, I attempted to get reimbursement for the damaged clothing. They had me send pictures of all the damaged articles. Again, after many calls not being returned, I finally started calling every 15 or 20 minutes and leaving a message until they got tired of having to listen to all the voicemails. They only offered $150 for all the damaged clothing. Oh yeah, have also had to have 2 service calls on the dryer. The door wasn't closing properly.

Do Not Buy Electrolux Appliances

MICHIGAN -- We purchased 5 kitchen appliances, spending $10,000 and had 10 service calls in the first 9 months, (5 calls on the refrigerator, 2 on the beverage center, 1 on the range, 1 on the dishwasher, and 1 on the microwave). Service department is terrible to work with. After endless calls of complaining, they finally swapped out the fridge.

Today we were told the microwave is not repairable and Electrolux wants us to spend another $600 on another microwave. Once again, Electrolux customer service representatives are uncooperative to assist in any type of resolution. Other notes: After dishwasher was repaired, we now need to keep the door partially ajar otherwise it smells like mold.

The bottom plates on the refrigerator and beverage center never fit properly. Made of cheap plastic and they hang down to the floor. Even the serviceman couldn't get them to go on correctly. A refrigerator shelf that has the option of being pulled out always slides out when you open the door (and yes we made sure it is level!), and a freezer drawer handle always comes off when you pull the drawer open (and this is on the replaced refrigerator!!). Total waste of money and time.

We had GE appliances for 15 years and didn't have 1 service call. Only replaced because we updated our kitchen... apparently with crap. Lesson learned, stick with what you know and don't purchase for cosmetic reasons. I wish I would have read all these reviews before making a purchase. I can't believe how many people had the SAME problems as us. Get a clue Electrolux. GE only had good reviews.

Induction Cooktop
By -

I purchased an Electrolux Induction cooktop because I thought it was the best electric cooktop, it was certainly the most expensive. I have had the cooktop for 2 years and now it stopped working completely. I called Electrolux and it's not under warranty. I asked if this is typical that it should stop working when it's only 2 years old, I was told it happens.

I called an appliance service company. The technician asked if I cooked a lot, at which I replied isn't that what a cooktop is for. Yes, I cook on it. Now the best part is why it's not working, because the way it's designed, the touch top control panel is level with the cooking surface so if liquid gets on the control panel it can short the panel, or if you press too hard on the touch pad it can short. Wow, who designed this? I am shocked, I thought Electrolux was a good company with excellent products and I was so wrong. I paid 1,900.0 for a cooktop that lasted 2 years, that's crazy.

I didn't realize this equipment was for show, you can't use it. The technician told me it would cost approximate. 700.00 plus labor to change the relay panel and it's under warranty for one and because of the design I can expect this to happen again. Thanksgiving has come and gone and I have no cooktop. Electrolux was no help and I'm stuck with a piece of junk that even if I repair will most likely go bad again. I will never buy another Electrolux product, they are junk, don't be fooled that's it's a good company, they don't stand behind their products.

Buyer Beware
By -

KNIK, ALASKA -- We had a custom home built and moved in Oct. 2008. Being a resident of AK for over 35 yrs, I've grown accustom to having to purchase what local retailers have in stock for household appliances. Unfortunately we had to go with the Frigidaire Professional Series Microwave and had it installed. This microwave gets very little use since our kids are grown and gone, and might see a total of 10 minutes of use a month.

Two days ago while cooking popcorn it stopped cooking halfway through. The timer, lights and chime work. I placed a call to lack of customer support and was told I was on my own since the warranty was up. (I already knew this.). So I'm now using an old microwave bought back in 1981 used that has countless hours and abuse on it and only cost $50. One would think that a microwave costing as much as it did would last longer then 3 yrs. I wish I had done some research prior to buying this brand with so many complaints.

Poor Quality Control on Frig/Freezer at Bottom
By -

For a supposedly high end Fridge/Freezer $3400 the first unit came in damaged. The freezer door had dents in it, which the delivery men pointed out as they unwrapped it. We should have refused to accept it in that condition. Lowe's, where we bought the machine, said it would replace it within three weeks. In the meantime, the ice maker broke and we had to have a new part shipped and a technician install it.

When the new one arrived in two weeks, the bottom freezer door was not pulling out the other shelves as it was supposed to. The same technician who came to the house initially could not find the problem and he calls Electrolux Tech support. The idiot there said it's not supposed to do that.

When I told the technician that it was one of the features that attracted us to the unit, he continued to search for the problem. Finally, he found what was causing the drawers not to open together, a bottle was blocking the area where magnets attach to the second pull out draw. One last thing, nowhere in the manual does it warn you about blocking these magnets. Who even knew they were there. Glad we bought a 4 year warranty, looks like we're going to really need it!

Microwave Defective
By -

I moved into my home in November 2008. It is a new home, has all Frigidaire appliances and I am the first owner. Recently the microwave stopped working. My old counter top model that I gave away when I moved here is still going strong after 10 years. The keypad, lights and count down timer all work, but the cooking and the turntable motor do not. I called the distributor that sold the microwave to the builder and they said ~$85 for a service call or ~$275 for a new one. I should not have to bite this bullet for I believe this microwave to be defective. I have read on several reviews of people having trouble with this model. Please contact me and give some relief.

Electrolux Appliance Issues
By -

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA -- Purchased a whole Electrolux kitchen appliance package in July '08. Since then I have had issues twice with the ice maker. Now I've got an error code on the display and the temperatures are rising in both the freezer and refrigerator. Thanks goodness I purchased the 5 yr extended warranty. I would have been out of luck without it.

Overall, I have been disappointed with all the Electrolux appliances except for the range. The water pressure in the dishwasher is quite poor. You pretty much need to wash the dishes before you put them into the dishwasher if you want them to come clean. The microwave light flickers when it's on. I certainly expected better quality than this based on the brand name and the price we paid. I recommend you stay away from Electrolux unless you're looking for a new range/stove.

Customer Service

I purchased a washer and dryer on June 30, 2008 from Sears in Johnson City, TN. Paid for an extended warranty on July 2, 2008 in the amount of $73.90 for dryer and $113.90 for washer. Sept 13, 2008 and I have yet to receive the contract/extended warranty. Four attempts have been made requesting deliver status on the extended warranty. All unsatisfactory. I was given deliver dates on two different occasions. Both unsuccessful.

Whatever the reasons for these delays, I find it totally unreasonable. Additionally, some of the Electrolux representatives were extremely difficult to communicate with and rude at times. I called requesting a refund and was advised it would take at least 6-8 weeks. The only responses I could get from them was apologies for the inconvenience.
