PELHAM, ALABAMA -- I had roof and some interior damage from hail from a terrible storm. I called Travelers Insurance and they sent a member of their crisis team to inspect the roof and ceiling. We agreed that Sunday was best day for her to come out. She was very professional and climbed all over the roof taking measurements and inspecting the shingles from various angles.
When she came down, she explained the procedure, went to the car and printed a check. I was shocked that she was willing to come out on Sunday and shocked again when she handed me a check. I had a new roof on Tuesday, two days later. I sent the receipt/work order form to Travelers and soon I had the check for the total cost minus my deductible. I told all the neighbors about it and of course told them that I have Travelers Home and car insurance.
MARIETTA, GEORGIA -- I do not recommend this insurance company to anybody. I feel that they can create policies on the run, to avoid coverage of any claims. I had a bad window that had rotted due to bad weather. Travelers insurance turned this claim down on the pretext that it was a long term damage. As per the home inspection, the rotting has taken place in the last one year. A couple of years back, I had to change my roof that was bad for many years and I did not have any problems getting approval from allstate insurance, when I was their customer. Allstate never gave me a reason that it was a long term damage.
I had a Travelers policy for several years and luckily never needed to make a claim. I have had negative experiences with insurance claims of all types in the past... (no returned calls, begging, "lost mail", "the person I talked to quit"), so I wasn't sure what to expect.
From the first contact with Travelers I was treated like a valued customer. People returned calls when they said they would. Showed up when they said they would, and did everything promptly and professionally. All of this was related to Tropical Storm Irene. I am sure they were very busy to boot. I am not in the habit of writing reviews, but I really was impressed with this Company. I think I received my check within 10 days of claim. I will continue to use this company even if it costs a little more.
I had a 100-year-old tree fall in my backyard and it was HUGE. I called Travelers during the storm and filed my report right away. They explained my coverage to me and gave me a claim #. I had an agent by the next day and a check was on its way not much later than that. I have had negative experiences in the past with other insurance companies, they just don't want to pay out on anything. I have had 2 claims with Travelers and they are so supportive and there is no hassle. They paid a portion of the tree removal and for the repair of a fence that was damaged. No hassle.
MELVILLE, NEW YORK -- We filed the claim on January 31, 2013 for water damages to our condo residence. Today it is July 29, 2013, and ** Travelers Claim Adjuster has failed to complete Travelers obligations in a timely manner and they have also been totally dishonest or truthful in handling any or all claims. ** will always want to discuss everything verbally because he can lie and promise things that he will not honor if it is not in writing. Do not trust or buy home insurance from Travelers.
CHANTILLY, VIRGINIA -- Changed insurance carrier to save money. Within a month as a new customer with Travelers Insurance, lightning fried our house generator. Thinking we would be on our own to make an "unnecessary" and costly repair, we filed a claim anyway. In 2 weeks, we were reimbursed. A week after that, we enjoyed listening to the hum of our generator during yet another power outage. With Travelers, there's no place like home!
I have had Travelers Insurance for over 15 years without a single claim. I recently had a pipe burst with flooding and they not only refused to cover it, but canceled my insurance after they told me they were not covering it. They did not even have the decency to inform me. I found out from my bank/lien holder on the house. This is the WORST company. I strongly advise you to SWITCH if you have them.
OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS -- My insurance claim was handled very professional and a check was given to me on the spot which I thought was very fair. I have checked various rates and Travelers was very competitive. I have been with them several years and have both my home and auto with them.
HARTFORD, NORTH CAROLINA -- For 10 years, our homeowners and landlord insurance were with Travelers. For the first time, we submitted one small claim for a stolen computer. Four months later, just a few weeks before the renewal date, we received a cancellation letter by snail mail--not even a phone call or email or advance notice. Even worse, the only reason they cancelled was because we didn't have our auto policy with them.
