AllState - Total loss car valuations
By -

My car has been total loss in auto accident (not my fault). AllState Insurer crashed on me. Now it's more than 2 month. AllState has evaluated my car value to half of the fair market value. a. Classified advt. valued at 4995; b. Quote Cars for 3K; c. Vehicle Value Tax by NC County Of Orange valued at $ 2290; d. Trade-in from dealer is 2500; e. Kelley Blue Book value is 2500

And AllState only wants to pay only 1200. I have discussed this issue with NC insurance commissioner office. No helps from them. They told me to file a suit. Don't know why tax payer money is spend on having commissioner office if their consumer division does not have any law to protect consumer from being ripped off by this insurance companies. I need some good advice. I do not have time and money to spend on litigations. Is there a federal agencies that I can file complain with. Don't tell me to go to my congressman because I have not money to donate to their elections funds.

Horrible

CHESAPEAKE -- They recommend using repair centers in their network, bragging on the customer service. Horrible customer service, it took a week to get an estimate, When I dropped it off, they said they would have an estimate in 2 days. They kept my vehicle 5 weeks and saying they were backed up, waiting on parts, still working on it, Meanwhile dragging their feet about giving me an answer in helping with a rental once my rental allowance ran out. I ended up without a vehicle for 9 days.

Allstate kept referring me back to the repair shop would not have chosen if they had not recommended. Allstate did not have me in good hands. I have been with Allstate for 20 years, but I am shopping for new coverage for my house and 2 cars.

Home Policy - Bait and Switch. Quote a Price and Increase 2mo. later

SHAWNEE, KANSAS -- Last March I decided to switch Insurance carriers and shopped around with several providers. I settled for Allstate Insurance -- an Agent with Modern Consulting, Inc. was very attentive and answered all my questions. I had a lot of questions because I wanted to make sure I compared apples to apples. After much review, I decided to switch autos, home and rental on a package deal.

Two months after the policy came into effect I got big increases in the premiums for the home and rental (both paid by the mortgagee), with no good explanation. It simply was a bait and switch scam. I was lured by a competitive rate and two months after, when nobody is paying too much attention (because you assume you have your policy settled) I get a notice for the increases. The increases made the work of shopping around and the switch from the previous carrier worthless. Be very careful with Allstate Insurance. Don't believe their quotes, they'll sneak increases when you're not watching.

H.O. Policy, Read The Fine Print. It Could Cost You!!
By -

I've been shopping for H.O. Insurance after Traveler's whacked me with a $400.00 premium increase. Five year customer with no claims. Called Allstate for a quote. Gave them my info and told them I wanted a $500.00 deductible. The agent emailed me the quote in a PDF file. Everything looked pretty much standard including the $500.00 deductible I requested.

Buried deep in the fine print was a "Tropical Wind and Water" clause. Huh? Never heard of this one. Allstate is slick, here's how it works. A Tropical Storm originates in the Caribbean with Hurricane Winds then makes land fall in Florida. It then goes up the East Coast but rapidly diminishes. By the time it hits N.J. and further points north it's just a rain event.

Now a policy holder in N.Y. files a claim for minor damage to their home. They have a $500.00 deductible. Allstate says this does not apply because it started out as a Hurricane 2000 miles away. The deductible is now 3% of your home value. What does this mean? Let's say your home is insured for $300K. You expect a $500.00 deductible. Wrong!! The 3% now kicks in and your deductible is now a whopping $9000.00!! This is why they are called "Allsnakes." Buyer beware!!

2 hours short of a week since we bought a new-to-us car, my wife is at Petsmart and some lady backs into our car, causing $1,300 worth of damage. The woman that hit our car admitted fault at the scene, but apparently the story changed to the insurance company. No cameras. Her insurance (Allstate) talked to us about splitting the damage, but now we can't get anyone to call us back. Anyone out there have any experience with this? Is there anyone we can complain to, to get some action? Small claims court? If so, are we suing the driver or her insurance company? I'm at a loss.

Agent Rips Off Elderly

HINSDALE, ILLINOIS -- My parents have been loyal customers for 40 years and the agent has taken many many dollars from my elderly parents. When I call her she told me that they would get a 15% off for the past many years but fail to provide them with even a written letter saying they would get this discount. Then she had the nerve to say that since they had a small claim after no claims for 40 years that they will not get the 15% discount.

I ask her to provide my parents their 15% discount for all those past years they haven't had a discount. She says she cannot do that. I cancelled the policy and we went to another insurance company then she has the nerve to send them an outstanding balance bill because she said she had to terminate the policy.

I am filing a complaint with the BBB and filing a complaint to the department of aging. If this is how this crappy company takes care of their 40 years loyal customers I cancelled my policy with them as well. Beware you're in good hands till something happens then they open their hands and treat you like crap.

Allstate's Online Customer Portal
By -

Recently Allstate redesigned their customer service online access. I have been a customer for many years and used the previous online account access with minimal issues, although not perfect. The new updated site has issues I reported earlier this year. I could not access all my accounts. Around April 2011 it was all better. I don't go online every day, but on occasion when I want to make sure everything is in good order. I view auto insurance and my life policies.

Last night I went online and it appears that my account is no longer active. I cannot access it at all. I called Customer Service and she tried password reset twice and it didn't work. I tried to request my password reset and a message indicated password reset sent to my email address on file, but I never received an email. I tried again this morning, thinking through the night all would be better, but nothing.

My concern is that no one at Allstate seems to know why this has happened or provides a good explanation. My only recourse is to change companies since my trust in their abilities to keep my information and accounts safe has waned. I had a similar issue with the old WAMU, now Chase, when my online access to my account was deleted mysteriously and could give access to anyone with my information to set-up a new online account. I left that bank as well. Sorry to say after years of no issues, when a company provides internet services, they best be certain they understand and can manage the technology extremely well.

Uping payments without notification
By -

So I had to change my address on my policy which I've done many times before, but this time they closed out old policy and started a new one. This meant that I would have to redo the automatic withdrawals. I set it up just like before to come out the first of every month. This was the end of January for my February payment.

Well come the end of February I got a statement with my automation installment payments for the next 6 months and out payments had gone up $65 because our February payment never got paid because they could take the money out until the 4th of February. And instead of contacting me to make the payment they figured that upping my payments $65 for the next 6 months wouldn't be a big deal in this economy without any kind of notice either!

Don't Expect Service.
By -

After the recent hail storm passed through Oklahoma City and over our home I waited a reasonable time for the expected backlog to clear then called to get a roof inspector to inspect the hail damage on our roof. First inspector gave me only one date more than 10 days away and at a time when I need to work. He was difficult to reach and by the time I could get him to call again he said he had filled the original time he had given me. He was a real grouch. A call and complaint to Allstate and they gave the lame excuse that they didn't do their own inspecting and used another company and I should complain to them!

I thought Allstate was who I sent my money to! I finally got a call from a reasonable inspector but he said he lived in Mississippi and was just leaving for 2 weeks to visit home. After he got back it was about another 10 days to get an inspection and a quote on the hail damage. Meanwhile many of my neighbors already had their entire roof replaced. We still haven't received any money from Allstate, only an estimate from someone who is not an Allstate person.

No one from Allstate seems to care about anything. I've sent 6 emails to complain and try to get some service from them and the 35 years I've paid Allstate for my home insurance seems to mean NOTHING to them. If you want a company who will give personal attention and see that you are taken care of I suggest you avoid Allstate!

Nothing but Great Service With Allstate
By -

GIG HARBOR, WASHINGTON -- My family has been a customer of Allstate for well over 25 years. Personally I have been for 6 years. I have had great luck with Allstate in Gig Harbor. They periodically review my coverage and make suggestions sometimes even resulting in reducing my bill. If it wasn't for them suggesting I upgrade my policy my rates would have gone up when I did have a wreck 6 months later. I had a major wreck, went into a ditch. It cost 13,000 to fix my car. Allstate was there all the way; keeping me informed every few weeks on the progress. I appreciate Allstate and the Gig Harbor office has a good reputation in my book. I would recommend them to everyone I know.
