Junk

Our refrigerator cost about $5,000 and sucks. Little did we know that this monster makes 7 ice cubes every 75 minutes. It won't dispense the ice unless it is more than half full is what they told us (the repairman) but it rarely ever dispenses ice at all. We had the cabinet makers make panels for the refrigerator and it cost a great deal more to accommodate the dispenser which is just a joke. If I had any idea what a hunk of junk GE products are I would have never bought it.

I met someone that said they had their house on the market and I asked why because they had just redone the kitchen and she said because the GE Profile appliances were horrible and they just wanted out. Unreal. So sad because I really thought it was a name I could trust. We had to go through an appeals process just to have a serviceman come out to look at our new refrigerator. Unreal! When he told us about the dispenser I said "So it is a piece a of junk" and he just smiled and shrugged his shoulders. I guess they are tired of hearing it too. He replaced the dispenser but what was the point? It doesn't work and it will never work. Lesson: Don't buy GE!!!

GE Profile Dishwasher does not clean dishes
By -

We bought GE Profile Refrigerator and GE Profile Dishwasher about 3 months ago and both of them are not working properly. GE Profile Refrigerator compressor make huge tremendous noise and GE dined to replace the compressor since it will bring more issue to a unit and GE Profile Dishwasher does not clean dishes and also smart dispenser on dishwasher does not function properly. We will never buy GE appliance again. GE profile appliances are expensive and they do not work proper and GE has the worst customer service where they do not care about customers after they sell their junk appliances.

We had 5 service calls for two new appliances and one of the call, technician did not show up and all the other 4 service call, technician refused to fix the problem. Technician also refuse to replace the refund the product as well and to deal with GE customer service representative is the worst experience because they do not listen your problem and they do think we are calling just for refund or replacement. They do not have any plan or curtsy to help the customers. I would stay, STAY AWAY FROM GE APPLIANCE.

GE Profile Dishwasher - Poor Design
By -

Main complaint: it doesn't wash dishes well. I'm 62 years old and have had a lot of dishwashers. This one's not so good. Some other comments: The soap dish door is blocked by the top rack, so the soap doesn't dispense properly. The door leaks water. The seal is bad on the right side. They fixed it. The door leaks steam out the top. The plastic door liner is screwed in too tight at the corners, so it won't connect with the seal, so steam comes out the top, condenses on the counter, and leaks down the side.

The pump vibrates, grinds, and is noisy. They have ordered a new pump. And I must say it was a VERY quiet dishwasher before the pump started acting up (6 months after we got the washer). While I'm at it, I don't like the fact that the 7 or 8 preset options for washing all turn on drying heat after wash and rinse. No option for drying yourself and saving money. Finally, I don't like the arrangement of of the racks, but that's my own personal taste.

Now the door will not open
By -

I purchased a GE Profile dishwasher 15 months back and now the door will not open. The first unit was installed and then leaked immediately and had to be replace. The second unit would not turn on after a few months. A service technician came out and looked at the unit, ordered a new latch switch and came back weeks later only to get the unit working without installing the part.

He left the park with us so that it could be installed later if necessary. Then the warranty expired and the problem came back. I then installed the switch that was left with us by the service technician with information I found online. Now a few months later the dishwasher door will not open and GE says they will send someone out and look at it for a fee. My wife and I only want our dishes out of it.

Refrigerator Total Garbage
By -

I had to write this review to hopefully spare some people the frustration of this total piece of garbage appliance. I have a GE Profile Refrigerator and the fan has frozen up on me multiple times. I had the temperature at their standard settings or cooler and the fan keeps freezing up making a horrible noise and stops the cooling. I have my heater blasting in the fridge now to try to de-thaw it while my food sits outside trying to keep it from spoiling. I would highly recommend staying away from this company or at least this worthless headache of a fridge.

GE Profile

If anyone is looking to purchase new appliances, your best bet is to avoid looking at GE products. Our GE Profile dishwasher has been nothing but substandard. It doesn't clean our dishes that good. It doesn't rinse the soap off that good. Nothing is more frustrating than to wash dishes and then find them still dirty with dried up soap. The solution to this is to wash them one more time without dishwashing liquid.

Not only is our dishwasher a problem, but so is our GE Profile refrigerator! The ice maker doesn't make ice so water seeps into our freezer which then freezes and causes icicles. I then have to chisel it away. It works again and a few weeks later the same thing happened. Even the GE repairman couldn't fix the problem! AVOID GE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

Profile Range More Style Than Substance.
By -

Styling great, the heating function works well. My range is less than 4 years old. I think if you pay $2,100 for something it should look good for longer than 4 years. We are two people. We do like to cook but excellent care has been taken with this appliance, using the approved cleaning materials, despite the expense of these specialized products.

First thing that went wrong, in the first year. The door locked for cleaning then failed to unlock. Nothing in customer book. Range repairman...it will be $80 to come out, "sounds like you need a new front panel" = hundreds of dollars. Husband undid 4 screws to remove the side panel, behind which was a printed note with instructions on how to reset the clock! Click, click...door open.

Now as a pan was simmering some water, I heard a ping. The glass top has cracked. A circular crack in the heating plate area, three cracks radiating out from this, front to back. The customer help...(ha ha ha!) has been wearing us down for two weeks, requesting photos, numbers and information. Some emails they get, many never arrive???

Finally the first comment...it looks like an impact. There was no impact and I do not appreciate the implication of the remark. We will see what comes up...BUT my advice, do not buy any of this Profile line. The large appliance people need the kind of scrutiny and shock that the auto industry has just had. They are very interested to hook you in with gloss and glitz, just don't expect quality or fair trading.

GE Profile Refrigerator Lemon or class action?
By -

I have a problem similar to that of the first reviewer. My ice machine seems to malfunction and ice builds up around the fan until the fan sounds like a lawn mower and then shuts off completely. Everything in the freezer melts and water leaks down through the refrigerator section. I have had 3 service calls and all the technician is able to do is thaw out the drain which is a temporary fix. He cannot tell me what is causing the problem or if it can be repaired. There is nothing blocking the tube as he can run water through it once it is thawed out but in a week or so the problem is back. This is a GE Profile stainless model. Does anyone have a fix?

Another GE Electric Range Fire
By -

Last night I had just turned on my 15-year-old oven, it had preheated to 425 and the food was in the oven for about 5 minutes when I heard a loud buzz and saw a bright flash of light. Inside the oven, the bottom element, near the rear was sparking & there was a 1-2" flame. I turned off the oven but the sparking & flame continued. My husband then pulled the oven from the wall and only after we unplugged the unit did the red element and fire subside.

Today I did some research and find there was a recent recall for the same situation but my model is not included. I then found several complaints exactly like mine for my model and in each of these complaints, GE refused to acknowledge any responsibility.

I'm sure if I had not been standing at the sink when this occurred there could have been serious property damage and/or injury from this incident. I plan to contact GE tomorrow (as they are closed today - Sunday). I could replace the element inexpensively but strongly feel the burnt element was the RESULT of some greater problem so I will replace my unit. I will try to retain my defective unit as long as possible so GE may inspect as I feel the duty to do so to prevent a possible injury/death. If I do not get satisfaction from GE I plan to contact a local TV station (7 on your side) to bring this matter to the public's view.

Dryer Buzzer Too Soft to be Heard When Dryer Runs
By -

NOVI, MICHIGAN -- Apr. 2009 purchased G.E. Profile dryer. Works fine EXCEPT one feature. The extra tumble feature has a buzzer to let you know when to remove your clothes so they won't be wrinkled. The buzzer sound is so low that no one in the house can hear it, thereby negating any advantage (being notified of when to remove the clothes). When I called Customer Service, they said "That's the way it's supposed to be." I asked, "You mean to say that you're "not supposed" to be able to hear the buzzer?" She replied that she would send someone out but if it buzzes when he checks it, I will have to pay for the service call.

I told her it does buzz softly (you have to be in the laundry room waiting to hear it!) but not enough to make the feature worthwhile/do its intended purpose. She stood firm on charging me for the service call. VERY FRUSTRATING.
