Buyers Beware

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO -- Buyer beware, there could be company trouble. I have had State Farm insurance for my cars and home for over 20 years. State Farm just completed a car policy review and dropped us with little notice or explanation. Our local agent has been a family friend and admits that the company is dropping a lot of long time customers and he no longer can explain his lack of influence at the corporate level. We have had a total of 6 car accidents over this 20 year time frame and put in a claim on 5 of the accidents.

I am completely at a loss for how thousands of dollars in premiums over 20 plus years and only 5 car claims gets long time loyal customers dropped. I will be seeking a new company to move all my insurance products. State Farm appears to be cherry picking the policy markets they want to be in and long time customer loyalty means nothing to them. Consumers should ban together on this report similar incidents to their States Department of Insurance to keep this now dishonest company in check.

Notice of Non Renewal
By -

I switched over to State Farm about two years ago for both auto and homeowners. I switched to State Farm primarily because of my confidence in my SF agent and because the rates were better than I had with Farmers. One year ago, my agent got into a dispute with State Farm over its treatment of customers and quit, becoming an independent agent. I was transferred to a different agent, and then three months later I was transferred to yet another agent. Neither agent has made any personal contact with me.

Yesterday, I got a notice of nonrenewal, citing two wrecks within the past year. Both were parking lot mishaps-- one for $1000 and one for $200. Two different vehicles, two different drivers, total of $1200. No tickets. No previous wrecks or tickets on anyone's record. In fact, before these two fender benders, our family had gone 25 years without any wrecks and at least 7 years without any tickets.

When I had my $1000 claim, they raised the rates on all my vehicles substantially. I was planning to leave State Farm anyway for a variety of reasons, but for them to drop me from their policy is just uncalled for. Seems to me, based on other reviews I have seen, that State Farm loves to have customers as long as they never have a claim of any kind. What a racket!

20 Years of Perfect Payments, Then One Missed = You're Out

PENNSYLVANIA -- I had been with State Farm for over 20 years, and never missed a payment. Last fall I had an accident, and got another used car (they did pay the amount for the totaled vehicle) and they told me to pay half the insurance bill at the time, they needed to recalculate the rest of the bill, which they would send me later. I paid the half, and waited for the 2nd half, which I never got.

I waited past 30 days before calling to ask why I hadn't received any more bills, and they said they sent it, and because I didn't pay it, my insurance was cancelled, and I could not remedy this with them by paying what I owed, no... I had to hold insurance with another company for a year before they would let me back with them. I had never had a missed payment before. Now that I am with someone else, I don't know if I want to get back with them... what kind of customer loyalty is that?

No one should have loyalty to this company!!!

Considering that I have been a State Farm consumer continuously for 18 years, one would think I would be treated well. NOT AT ALL! The local office is always friendly and as helpful as they can be, but the company is SHADY!!!!! They're fine, like any car insurance company, if you don't have any problems. If you do, State Farm will do absolutely anything they can to get out of helping you. Trying to recover from a car accident that was not my fault, was made that much harder by a company that continued to pay lost wages late every single month and make it harder and harder to survive.

I have been accident free for a very long time now, and they raised my rates over $150 with absolutely no explanation. I have absolutely no loyalty to them. Saving over $600 a year with another car insurance company and have even BETTER coverage. Never go with State Farm. I don't care how many people use them... it's probably people like me that have been with them for years and don't even think about checking another company's rates. There are a LOT more insurance choices out there than there used to be. Do NOT give State Farm your money. Other companies give discounts for multi-car and including other types of insurance (i.e. home owner's) with your policy, too.

Home & Auto Insurance

OZARK, MISSOURI -- After almost 30 years with state farm my husband having been hit by an uninsured motorist April 2010, our auto policies were dropped reason given, my husband's wreck caused by an uninsured motorist, a grandson having a speeding ticket and other claims mostly from where we were hit by another uninsured motorist in 2008. Also our house insurance was dropped by state farm because of claims caused by hail damage, as if we were god and can control the weather.

Like a good neighbor state farm is there, I don't need neighbors like that. Like I said we have had other claims I'm sure our premiums have far more than covered our claims. Which they should. But to be canceled for things beyond our control. I am so very very disappointed in state farm after all these years.

State Farm - A bunch of crooks!

Me and my wife were involved in an accident with a State Farm customer. The said customer was deemed liable for the accident which forced us to get involved with this terrible company. These people are terrible and will belittle you to no end in hopes of scaring you into a settlement. I have been with a few insurance companies since being a driver and I have to say that most of which were "pretty fair". This was not even our fault and they are treating us as if we are of no value! I have had only had my car for 6 months and they are lowballing me on it. I put after market rims and tires on it and they don't feel they need to reimburse me for them.

One of my hobbies are showing and restoring cars and when I told the claims agent the car was in "excellent" condition he told me that was a term that was used "rather loosely" and is "reserved for a very very limited number of vehicles"! He said " I will say that your car was in above average condition." What a sad state of affairs! I think most would agree it is FAIR to pay out what it costs me to replace my car. Unfortunately this company is forcing into a position where I have to write these negative reviews and tell everyone that out of all of the insurance companies don't use State Farm!

State Farm Doesn't Pay!!!
By -

I insured a house, 4 cars, a truck, and 3 motorcycles with State Farm over a 20 year period. My biggest claim was $157 for a slight fender bender when my new truck slid on ice and went into a ditch. The big accident came on November 1, 1991, when an illegal Arab with no insurance, driving a 1975 Caprice ran a red light at 40 mph and T-boned my car in the driver's side. My car was totaled and I incurred permanent neck and back injuries. State Farm refused to pay and when I sued them, their attorney I paid for, lied and the Arab committed perjury and got off Scott-free. He wasn't injured, nor was his tank!

With over $30,000 in medical bills that State Farm didn't pay, I had to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy, thus ruining my excellent credit record, and my excellent driving record. State Farm dug up information from my past to try to embarrass me and none of it was relevant to the accident.

Eighteen years later, I am still suffering from severe back and neck pain, and sciatica down my left leg. I now have degenerative discs and osteoarthritis in my whole spine, and was supposed to have had my neck fused in 2001. I am going to have to have back surgery eventually to relieve the pressure on the sciatic nerve, and probably have my whole back fused in a cage, or live on a wheelchair. I have already shrunk 2 to 3 inches in height. Thanks State Farm for NOT being a good neighbor as you claim to be! In 2007, State Farm had a $37 billion SURPLUS from screwing people out of their benefits!

Total Arrogance

I received a cancellation notice #**. The notice was not sent because my premium of $207.71 was not paid on time, or that I filed a massive claim. State Farm added a $3.00 add on fee to my month bill because I pay monthly by check. They want everyone to trust them and pay in advance, or give them permission to access your bank acc. In today's economy only a fool would pay for any product in advance. With fraud like it is no one gets into my bank acc.

Here's my advice to State Farm, every year write a check to your power co. for $10.000. because you trust them, like we're supposed to trust you. The pre pay method will work, all you have to do is trust the power co. to charge you correctly and notify you when you're low on money. Why not? That's what you want us to do. Sorry State Farm. There is only one god, having read the bible I didn't see you mentioned. I'll find another vendor.

State Farm Want to Be #1 By Not Paying Any Claims
By -

HAMMOND, LOUISIANA -- State Farm Insurance - Not Paying Claims I got an auto accident on Friday morning, April 27, 2007 at Hammond, Louisiana. At the intersection, I moved forward after I got a green light. The other truck (Ford F 150, 2006) crossed my car and made damage at the front of my car (Ford Escort 1999). Although I did not get any serious injury, my lip was swollen and I got a pain on my neck in the next day. The police came and investigated the incident.

According to the police report, I am on the right way and the police blamed the other driver. I called the other driver insurance company (State Farm) to cover my losses. They asked me if I got any medical treatments. I did not claim any medical treatment, so it becomes a small amount of money. However, State Farm rejected my claim. In their opinion, my case is weak. They said that the police report is not enough to prove that I was on the right way. Certainly they just want to escape from any liabilities. When I said that I will continue this case to the court, they replied that to go ahead if I can get any attorney for this small case.

Without a medical claim, they thought that this was just a small case, and many attorneys were reluctant to accept a small case like this. Luckily, after getting in touch with several attorneys, I found an attorney who is willing to support me. It is about the truth, justice and my right. I will fight and fight for my right! To State Farm, if you think that you can be rich by rejecting any claims, I will prove that you are totally wrong!
