Travelocity Gift Card Is a Scam
By -

Please learn from my lessons before you ever think about buying gift card from Travelocity. We bought $500 with my wife's bonus before our trip to Alaska. The bonus is no cash so we choose Travelocity gift card with the intention that we could use them to book ticket from Travelocity. Then we found out that you could not use the gift card to book anything from Travelocity.com. You have to go to a special site Travelocityincentives.com. The site is like the result of project of a high school computer science class. Initially we thought we may get luck and find some good deal. The first time we used it, it was down for more than a day.

And their customer service neither could provide an estimate on when it will be resolved nor it could take order over the phone. Then we found out that it did not have nearly as many selections as Travelocity. You could find out lots of hotels with better price on Travelocity.com but not on this shabby site. Looks like it is specially design this way so no one could use his/her gift card anymore. A genius way to take customers' money. Unless you hate your money, do not buy Travelocity gift card, period. Also spread your words about this site.

Cancellation With No Refund
By -

I guess I have myself to blame for not knowing Travelocity's cancellation policy, but they have no human compassion. How do companies like this stay in business? This summer I made a reservation for my mother to visit us this Christmas. A few weeks before her trip, something happened which affected her health making it impossible for her to travel. She had her doctors write reports explaining why she could not travel so I could provide them to Travelocity and get a refund for the $305 ticket charges.

I called Travelocity's customer service and they said it was too bad about my mom, but there could be no refund. I had to speak with a customer service representative I could hardly understand which I do not appreciate in times like these. He said I could receive a credit for the price of the ticket; to be used by the anniversary date that reservation was made, but that the travel would have to be by the same person whose name the original reservation was made in, on the same airline, AND there would be extra charges. Extra charges would include a $180 service fee and the difference in price between the original fare and the new fare.

I had to ask the customer service representative at least 3 times to explain it to me because I couldn't understand his accent and he spoke too fast. This is customer service??? I don't think so. Needless to say I will not ever do business with Travelocity again. It is obvious that they only care about taking people's money without any regard of the consequences. I hope they go out of business. They deserve to.

Travelocity RIPOFF! Bait and switch

The only reason we used Travelocity to book a recent hotel stay was because they offered tickets to area attractions as a bonus. When we got to the hotel, there were no such tickets!!! We even spoke to a Travelocity agent before we booked, and were told specifically which attractions were included. While trying to resolve it from the hotel on the phone for AN HOUR with Travelocity, they would not take responsibility or make good on their promise. The best they would do was offer a $50 discount on a future booking...but the booking had to be for a package only, not just flight or hotel.

How useless....and why would I book through them again??? And the value of the attraction tickets were well over $100? A $50 credit? Give me a break! The Travelocity customer service sucks, and they operate it from India, so good luck trying to get someone that even comprehends what the issue is, forget resolving it. I dealt with a guy named Cheslyn ** - in Bombay, India. Useless, with a snarly attitude to boot!

The hotel made good on the attraction tickets after learning that Travelocity was going to screw us. Apparently, they have had plenty of complaints about Travelocity because they were cancelling their relationship. I will NEVER NEVER NEVER book through Travelocity again.

VIRGINIA -- Travelocity has an interesting way of confirming reservation cancellation. I booked a room for a Friday check-in at the Clarion Hotel in Richmond which has a 6 pm the day before arrival cancellation policy. I canceled the reservation through Travelocity on Thursday morning and received an email from Travelocity confirming the cancellation. The email was sent Thursday, November 14, 2013 9:33 am, according to Outlook.

When the charge appeared on my American Express, I contacted them and they said they had no way to confirm their own cancellation confirmation despite the fact that I had sent an email with a screenshot of their cancellation email. They said they had to refer it to their technical department to confirm when the cancellation was received so they could contact the hotel. I was instructed to send them an attachment of the email which they would provide to their technical department.

WTF? I have to send them a copy of their own cancellation confirmation attached as a file? Seems like they would have figured out by now to assign a cancellation confirmation number to all cancellations, unless of course, they are not accustomed to providing refunds for canceled reservations.

Worst Airline Booking Company EVER!

I initially booked a flight online with no issue. But when I had to change flight itineraries it became a disaster. I needed to change reservations/flights. So right off the bat I got hit with a $200 per ticket change fee! Then after 2 days, 4+ hours on the phone, being disconnected 4 times, making 3 different bookings, I got a new reservation.

The reason for the 3 bookings is they told me that each booking had an "error" in the system that caused them not to go through. That error was the inexperienced operator you have to deal with. My previous booking that I had to cancel was made into a credit that I could only use with Travelocity and I could only apply it by calling them. I tried 3 times to apply the credit, which the operator said it was applied, and all 3 times it wasn't. Until I got an operator that could speak English and understand what I needed. If you have to call them for any reason, expect a 1 hr call minimum. Absolutely the worst customer service EVER!!!

I canceled a flight within minutes of booking with Travelocity, while I was still on the call with the booking agent. The reason I canceled was because there was a booking fee added to the price that no one told me about in advance. I was transferred to the "refund department" who told me they had canceled the flight and would refund the charges to my credit card. Within minutes I got an email stating the flight had been canceled, but the charges were posted to my credit card.

It took 8 days and several calls to Travelocity to get the pending charges off my credit card. I didn't want to rebook the flight until I knew there would be no charge for the canceled flight. In the meantime, airfare kept going up. Here's the rub - Travelocity has arrangements with ALL credit cards to charge a NON REFUNDABLE booking fee on airline tickets. I tried to dispute the fee and the credit card wouldn't do it. BEWARE - you cannot get all your money back from Travelocity if you cancel an airline booking, even before the ticket is issued. BAD DEAL.

I booked a hotel on 7/28, cancelled it on 7/29. Received confirmation of booking via email, but no cancellation email. I called Customer Service, and they told me that the reservation was never made. I had the confirmation email, proof that my card was charged, etc, and they still said that I was basically lying.

They searched by the trip ID, location and hotel name, name on account, and credit card number, and they couldn't find anything. I talked to 5 different people, the last one being a supervisor. After he couldn't help me, he said "Reply to email that was sent and tell them your problem. We have nothing." I sent the email, and they said they would get back with me in 7-10 days. We have heard nothing. My CC company is disputing the charges. Do NOT give your trust to this company.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON -- There was a mistake that was made to my travel plans (cannot confirm if it was my fault or theirs) however, when I called and asked for help they told me if the Hotel was willing to fix the mistake they would change the reservation. The hotel was willing to help and asked for a fax from Travelocity confirming the changes. Here is where the problem starts. First they said they would put me on hold for 5 minutes to send the Fax. 36 minutes later I am still on hold in the Lobby of the hotel and no fax has been sent.

I finally get a supervisor and explain the situation. He then puts me on hold to send the Fax, this time I was on hold for 50 minutes. All in all I was on hold with all my luggage in the lobby for over an hour and a half. When they finally sent the info, Travelocity offered 25.00 for my trouble. I did not want their 25.00, I wanted to be treated fair and received the help I was requesting.

I will note that everyone I spoke with was from another country and acted as if they really didn't care about my situation. To add insult to injury, when I asked the hotel how much it would cost to book another room, IT WAS CHEAPER THAN WHAT I PAID WITH TRAVELOCITY! I will never ever use this service again!

Company Response 05/24/2013:

Hi. We're very sorry for the problems you've experienced with this reservation and want to help. Please send an email with your Trip ID to mediacustomercare@travelocity.com.
Regards, Lawra A, Travelocity

FORT WORTH, TEXAS -- Booked a weekend trip with Travelocity including air and hotel. When we arrived at the hotel the desk clerk had no reservation for us. She called Travelocity and they took no responsibility an immediately blamed the hotel for the error. They offered a refund and when I refused and said that we needed a place to stay they offered a 1 bedroom (we had booked a 2 bedroom) and told us they would be an additional charge for the smaller room.

Fortunately the hotel staff called some local hotels and were able to find us a comparable room so we eventually accepted the refund offer from Travelocity. You might find a good deal on Travelocity but be warned that if something goes wrong you are on your own.

ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA -- I ordered 4 tickets on their websites to Washington DC but for some reasons I could not go so I called them to cancel. The agent did not tell me about the reissuing fees of the cancelled tickets would be double the price of the tickets themselves. They also did not tell me about the $30 service fees for each ticket when I use the credits.

The confirmation emails did not mention the fees either. They only said that I can use the full credits to book the next flights. When I called them, they insisted that they already told me about it and the confirmation emails should also show that. But when I sent them the emails that they sent me, they said that those emails were sent automatically and that they are not valid proofs.

Now I lost $750 for the cheating company. Their service is horrible and the agents are not helpful at all. They failed to speak English clearly and properly. They yelled at me like I was too stupid to understand. Never do any business with them again. Never.
