Horrible Customer Service

PORTLAND, OREGON -- We purchased all new windows and A/C and Heater. The sales team was nice but VERY LONG, half a day just for them to do their paperwork on the computer to do the sale and the computer kept having issues. The installers are subbed out but did ok work. One of the windows had mass amounts of sealant gel dripping down the windows onto the house that needs repairs. A couple of the windows do not lock as it would take an immense amount of pressure to get it to lock. A window screen came with a tear in it and they installed it without saying anything.

It has been 6 months and numerous calls and emails to their "customer service" department which is apparently one project manager because we always talk to the same person. Still no repairs have been done 6 months later. In addition, I referred them to a friend and was to get a referral fee, that has still yet to happen. When I complained, they sent me a form called a "Settlement Letter" in order to process the referral! OK NO I'm not SETTLED as NOTHING has been fixed. And the REFERRAL has nothing to do with the settlement of MY installation. SHADY business practices!

LODI, CALIFORNIA -- I ordered a rip fence replacement for a 10 inch table saw online. It paid for and promised within a week. 2 days later it was backlogged an additional 2 days. A few days later, it was backlogged again adding 2 more days. Finally it was backlogged an additional 2 weeks. In the meantime, I needed the replacement to cut some wood. Eureka! I found it and it's on its way via USPS next week.

Day One: Tried to go online to have order cancelled. No luck. Day Two: Went online to chat session with a representative to have the order cancelled. No luck. Day Three: Call times and was disconnected 5 times after approx 5 half hour calls. I talked to a robotic voice each time (not really a robot...not SciFi) and was transferred to human agents with heavy accents who could do nothing to help.

Finally solution is to wait for the order and pay $5.71 to UPS to have item returned. You know. The one that is still back ordered and was never sent. So I am paying $5.71 for placing an order for an item I won't need. What's wrong with this picture? And no I am not sending it back unless I can send it soon their dark alley sideways.

HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Today I experienced a whirl wind of an experience with their customer repair service. I was on the phone being transferred back and forth for a total of 4 different calls and a least 2 hours. Don't ever ask for a supervisor or manager because they apparently don't have a clue what that is or DON'T HAVE ONE!
I will say that the help and information that I received from a gentleman from the parts department was above and beyond!!! It's crazy that from all the "information" that they "note" on a file and they can't tell me who I spoke with in the "parts" department that placed my order to Whirlpool.
It's a wonder they are still in business!

KILLEEN, TEXAS -- We purchased a dishwasher online during their Labor day sale this year. When we inquired about the item in the store and they learned it was an online purchase we were quickly turned away and treated as if we were traitors, in actuality, it was apparent the salesmen had nothing to gain via a sale so offered NO assistance at all.

It got FAR worse, we learned thru this process that when you buy online, the brick and mortar staff have no control or knowledge that is helpful in tracking your item. We could not locate or find our item until I went to the store in Killeen and even then I had a two employees telling me it was not in the store until a third one who actually went back and looked came back to me with it on a dolly.

It gets WORSE, we paid to have it installed by their out-sourced appliance installers they use called Tolly's AC & Refrigeration, who after hassling with them a little suddenly decided they could not install it till November (remember, we bought it at labor day) so we asked for a refund so that we can find someone else to install it.

Then it gets WORSE, nobody can refund an online purchase, until you are talking to someone in the Philippines who said they would refund it in 7 days, that was a month ago, still no refund. Sears in Killeen Texas sucks, the salespeople are selfish pigs and the staff seem like they are all on drugs. Run and don't look back. I predict they will go out of business soon, it just had that feel to it when I was there.

Appliance Order Delayed -- Unacceptable

PORTLAND, OR -- I purchased a LG Washer Dryer Combo online. I was told it would be delivered in 2 weeks and I paid an extra $10 to have it delivered on Saturday. I got a notice from Sears 3 days before my delivery that I would be called 24 hours before delivery to confirm a 2 hour window. 2 days before delivery I got a call from the delivery department that my order is delayed and it wouldn't be available 16 days later. I told them that was unacceptable and they offered me a 5% discount. I told them to cancel my order and then I was told it would take 5-7 days for a credit. I will never order anything from Sears again and doubt I'd go into one of their stores either.

BRIDGEVIEW, INDIANA -- I usually do not write reviews but after being treated so poorly I feel it is necessary to warn others. Sears ruined my carpet. I have a child that is asthmatic so I make sure to have my carpets regularly professionally cleaned. I made the mistake of allowing Sears (Bridgeview office) to "clean" my carpets. They left my floors sopping wet, even after I placed fans through out my home, mildew quickly set in. I reported the problem and it took 2 weeks for anyone to call me back. Finally after a month of leaving voicemail after voicemail, I was informed via email that I would NOT be given a full refund. I have never been treated more poorly by a company. I now have to hire another company in hopes that they can save my carpet which is only 2 years old. What an absolute nightmare!

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND -- I will never purchase another appliance from Sears again. Purchased the 300.00 + service plan. 4 service calls, 2 of which were no call, no shoes. 4 lost days of work. 2 days of family and other serious engagements canceled because of the no show situation. We are now 1 1/2 months with no washer. Tonight was the second of the no-shows and they arbitrarily rescheduled the next service appt for January 11, 2017....which will be approaching two months....dealing with this through the holidays with two small children. My financial burden, not to mention the absolute frustration, now exceeds the cost the service plan, a new washer, and the cost of a second service plan on a new washer.

Thanks Sears.....never again

Disappointing Sales Practices

SUGAR LAND, TEXAS -- Really long presentation - over three hours. Mostly consisted of John showing me the problems with how the previous roof was installed (this original roof has not had a leak in the 23 years it has been on - only replacing in order to sell), and that Sears would do it right.

Lots of how long do you think the warranty will last, how much do you think the roof will cost. Each answer was met with a condescending smirk. Once he revealed the price (three TIMES the price of another long-standing company with a clean BBB record), and expressed concern over the price, he was very quick to pack up and leave. Would not leave a card.

Delivery Driver Dropped Stove and Refrigerator on Front Porch WHEN TENANT WAS RIGHT THERE- IGNORED

GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN -- We purchased a new stove and refrigerator from Sears. It was to be delivered between 4:30 and 6:30 pm. They got to house, and our tenant got there 2 minutes later. Can confirm this because we were on phone with both when they arrived. The delivery man had already started unloading the appliances onto the FRONT PORCH (yes, thousands of dollars in appliances, left on a front porch!!!), and ignored her when she tried to direct them to bring the items into the home. They drove away, leaving her standing in the driveway.

I called Sears and asked them to go back and complete delivery and installation. I also paid for installation and additional parts required to install a gas stove and water line for a fridge. After 1.5 hours, they stated they would try to call warehouse and see if they could come tomorrow to finish job, but probably not. This means my tenants has no stove or fridge, and that the soonest they can get there is 5 days from now.

I had to take $100 off rent because my tenants ended up carrying the fridge into the house on their own and they do not have a stove for a week! Sears did not seem to care. Terrible customer service, even worse delivery service. Not worth it. I recommend shopping elsewhere.

Technician Had No Idea What He Was Doing

MIAMI, FLORIDA -- Whirlpool fridge was leaking some water. Called for repair. Paid $300 for a 5 min. repair. Technician says, "Let me give you my cell phone number." Next morning the water leak was worse than before. Ray never answered his phone or text. Sears says it will be 1 week before they can send someone to fix his screwup. Now I have to worry for a week about my kitchen flooding or getting soaked with water because he did not do the proper repair? Stopped payment on my debit card. They will get paid when the job is done properly. If I must wait a week, so will they. Will NEVER use them again!
