Icemaker Problems
By -

I purchased the higher-end Electrolux CD FD refrigerator (with WAVE TOUCH) in July and have had nothing but problems with it since day one. Ice Maker issues: wet cubes, slow production, leaky, inefficient, started making noises, stopped working, new motor installed, stopped working AGAIN!!, etc. It's a beautiful, sleek looking unit but it doesn't work properly (repair people have told me that they are not impressed with icemaker design).

Customer service reps seem very nice at Electrolux and the outside repair people are accommodating but Electrolux will not replace this LEMON and the repairmen can only do so much. It keeps breaking and never worked properly in the first place (so I am out multiple days of work after almost six months and still do not have a WORKING icemaker). For the money I paid, I expected this unit to be attractive AND to WORK PERFECTLY! Don't buy this unit! If I had to do it over again, I would buy the Samsung (I was too impressed by all the Electrolux bells and whistles and now I am paying the price).

My advice is to look elsewhere until Electrolux does a much better job with design and service.

Electrolux Is Not A Good Product And Company

MONTREAL -- We purchased a 2008 SIDE BY SIDE IN COUNTER DEPTH. Refrigerator w/ icemaker for over $3000.00!!! Guess what the ice making system has failed on many occasions since then, the appliances were bought at SEARS and they have come to repair it almost 6 times so far... The new appliances are electronic and managed by computer chips, so no mechanical failures here. Service people DO NOT KNOW what to do with them, since software problems are ERRATIC and momentary at times... they have trouble pinpointing the problems.

Electrolux HAS NOT answered ANY REQUEST, they obviously DO NOT CARE about customer complaints and SEARS just keeps on coming to fix the darn thing OVER AND OVER and wasting money and time. I cannot believe the issues with a BRAND NEW high end fridge and the issues with service. I have been told by different technicians that ALL products are prone to failing, including stoves, dishwashers and so forth, anything with electronic components commanded by computer chips will eventually fail. How costly is it, just for the refrigerator main board, we are talking over $550.00!!! And that does not include labor costs... so imagine that!

I would THINK TWICE about getting these and WE WILL NEVER BUY ELECTROLUX PRODUCTS AGAIN!

Terrible Product

BLYTHEWOOD, SOUTH CAROLINA -- My wife and I have had 4 refrigerators in our 41 years of married life. Our latest one, an Electrolux /Frigidaire by side refrigerator was purchased four years ago. Fortunately we purchased a five year service program. Within the first 30 days the ice maker was replaced. The service man said this was not unusual. Then the compressor failed and had to be replaced.

It took two tries and 11 days to successfully replace it. Another ice maker failed. Then the water supply valve failed. And most recently the ice maker was replaced. I do not know what will happen next. This is no doubt one of the worst home appliances I have ever owned. I did contact Electrolux and they have never replied. One thing for sure I will never, never purchase another Electrolux product.

Frigidaire Horrible Products, Company

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- A Frigidaire refrigerator was purchased in Sept 2006. We were building a new home and did not begin using the fridge until April 2007. We plugged in the water for ice maker in June 2007. It was not plumbed correctly and it flooded the fridge. Repair tech repaired it. In August fridge stopped cooling. We called again. Tech came out and replaced damper control. We had to throw away hundreds of dollars in food.

In early Sept 2007 stopped cooling again. Tech came out and replaced temperature control unit. Again wasted a lot of food. At that time I began telling Electrolux that I needed a new fridge. They were not helpful at all and would not let me submit the service claims to the replacement area. I finally got a supervisor to send my data to the replacement department. Replacement dept denied my claim saying I was outside the warranty of 12 months.

I have sat here for a full week without a fridge that works for the third time in two months. The problems started well within the 12-month warranty period but they will not honor their commitment. They just keep saying "sorry there is nothing we can do to help you."

Highly Disappointed, Thought High End Would Cause Less Problems-Wrong!

PEARLRIDGE, HAWAII -- I bought a High End Fridge, or so I thought. I purchased a E123CS55GS - Electrolux Side by side from Best Buy. During the first few weeks, I returned 3 units back for computer problems, refrigerator side not working, and control panel being faulty.

Best Buy supported their sale, by quickly replacing the units, but still a hassle. Here I am 4 years later and have had paid over the price of my unit ($2500) for various issues like the Ice Maker inoperable 2 times, the Ice Container being separated from the coil and needed replacing, the temperature settings not being able to keep set temperatures and today once again my fridge side cannot maintain the 37 degree setting, it's now at 52 and I've tried resetting it 4-5 times.

I will NEVER purchase another Electrolux Fridge ever again. I have a Electrolux glass top stove and oven, but that's another story... Don't be fooled by the so called high end fakes Electrolux. So very disappointed and upset on this really bad purchase.

Electrolux Refrigerator Freezer and Ice Maker Not Working

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- We purchased an Electrolux refrigerator which was stainless steel and has the two doors on top with freezer below. The ice maker and freezer do not work and even with the extended warranty and 9 visits from the technician, we are still using bagged ice and have had to put a separate freezer in garage as freezer does not work.

After two months we still have no relief. Electrolux does not honor their craftsmanship or their extended warranty and I am now going to file with the BBB and with the action 9 news team in town and write an article for the newspaper as this is ridiculous. I am going to put my English degree to work for me and start being vocal with the media. I am tired of hearing their commercials on the radio as they do not honor their warranty. I own 11 rental houses and have never had this kind of problem with a refrigerator.

I had my refrigerator repaired once under warranty and I have contacted Electrolux. They will not replace or fix my fridge. I have Model #EW23BC71IS3. I have contacted the Better Business Bureau and I am busy writing as many BAD reviews as I possibly can. I paid $3,500 for a fridge that doesn't work as advertised. This is a design flaw and Electrolux so far hasn't stood behind their product. Pretty terrible that they can't even get a year's good use out of it before it craps out. I bought Electrolux because I believed that the quality of the product made it worth the extra money... I was WRONG.

AGOURA HILLS -- I bought an Electrolux french door style. The ice maker was not making ice. The repair man came and exchange it. He said it is a defective model and they are replacing all of them. After few month the ice maker stopped making enough ice and it was making noise all night. This month the water dispenser keep on dripping. The repair man came and fixed the rubber around the ice maker to seal the dripping.

Two days later, same problem. Something's wrong with this model. I am not happy at all with Electrolux fridge and I don't advise anybody to purchase. I paid too much money thinking I am buying the best but I was wrong and the salesman did not tell there is a recall on this model. I am ready to sue the company because this is very wrong.

My First Year With My New Electrolux Refrigerator

We purchased our Electrolux fridge in March, 2011. The motherboard went out 4 month later. The motherboard was replaced. The ice maker never made ice properly after that and finally stopped working altogether 4 months later. Repairmen came out adjusted a couple of things and tried to get hold of Electrolux Tech support, but after a couple hours he had to give up because no one ever picked at Electrolux. 3 months later the ice maker stopped working altogether and it sprung a leak.

The repairmen came out again, got hold of Tech support and found out the original motherboard installed 7 month earlier was the wrong type for my model and apparently caused the filter to freeze and bust and that was the reason the ice maker never worked properly. The repairman said since the motherboard probably caused the filter to crack, he would try to get me another free filter. After another week the repairman repaired the motherboard, but he said that the filter wasn't covered. He said we should try to call Electrolux explain that the fridge malfunctioned and caused my filter to crack.

After an exhausting call to Electrolux, I finally gave up getting the filter. If this is the problems of owning an Electrolux for a year with a warranty, we can hardly wait to see what is in store for us in the future.

Electrolux Fridge Ruins Wood Floor, Customer Service Doesn't Care
By -

Bought Electrolux fridge as it was the only one that would fit under an oddly placed cabinet... seemed fine until the freezer bottom started forming ice, which somehow melted onto our new wood floor. After dealer repaired the fridge, we called Electrolux to file a claim for the property damage, they sent a long list of info they would need (bill of sale, service ticket etc) within 30 days. Sent it, but get this - they want the original parts that were replaced. Depending who you talk to at the dealer, they were either discarded or sent to Electrolux. So of course I don't have the parts, and on that basis they "regretfully" deny our claim.

Meanwhile we either leave the floor the way it is or shell out $1000.00 to have it sanded down and refinished... These are overpriced junk - stay far, far away.
