Frigidaire Refrigerator - HA!
By -

FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO -- Boy do I wish I had found this site before I spent over $500 for a new refrigerator WITH the extended warranty which was to replace my 30 year old refrigerator that was still working, just old. Purchase was made on April 4, 2008, went out 2 weeks later. I called and called with the 24 hr promise being repeated every time. I also got the response to please allow 72 for the fulfillment of the 24 hr. promise. Finally a repairman came out who told us that this problem was very common with these units and would probably happen again (defrosting system no good, won't defrost, won't cool).

He also said the Electrolux warranty repair was not a priority job as they would not pay the service company full price for repairs. In other words, I would be worked in as they could between real customers. First time he came to replace the part he just called me and said he was at my house, I was in town picking up my kids from school and he couldn't wait. Brought the part out to replace again on May 20th, (notice this is over a month later) as I was leaving the house to make my father's funeral arrangements who had passed 2 days prior. We told him he should have called first, please reschedule. Well, he reported he didn't like the way we treated him so.

Now it is September and I am again dealing with the 24 hr guarantee. HA! By the way, they told me they had a note that I was called on July 24th but the phone was busy and they had no obligation to call the other number I gave them, nor did they have to call back. It is my responsibility to stay by the phone and keep the line open while awaiting their call, so they concluded that they had fulfilled their commitment. At this point I NEVER want another one of their products in my home and I don't want repair, I want my money back but alas, the replacement extended warranty doesn't go into effect until AFTER the manufacturers warranty ends.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT EVER buy an Electrolux product. Customer Service? Customer Delay. I think they are hoping we will give up, junk the thing and just write it off as lesson learned. The other postings here just confirm this suspicion. By the way, my normal service people who are wonderful, refuse to work on this product. That gives me another hint as to the quality of product.

Failure to Honor Extended Warranty

FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA -- We are on our 2nd Electrolux refrigerator where the ice maker failed. After numerous service calls and phone calls to the appliance store and Electrolux, they finally replaced the non-repairable fridge after 6 service calls. We bought the extended warranty on the 2nd unit and now it has too quit making ice. The extended warranty offers to replace a unit if it is deemed non-repairable. Today was repair visit #8 - still no ice. Electrolux has offered to return a portion of the extended warranty but is refusing to replace the unit. The extended warranty is a scam - they will not live up to what they advertise.

ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA -- Purchased Electrolux appliances as part of a kitchen remodel in summer of 2011. One week after installation Wave Touch french door refrigerator stops working. Call Electrolux, they send repairman who says problem is circuit boards, new ones need to be ordered. Electrolux says circuit boards back ordered, may take a month or longer to get new boards. Many phone calls, threats of law suits and they agree to replace unit. I don't want replacement, don't trust Electrolux, I want my money back. Electrolux refuses refund, assures me this is an updated model and says I will have extended service contract.

Eighteen months after replacement is installed the circuit boards go again. Call Electrolux and am told I don't have extended warranty. Try to speak to "supervisor" and am repeatedly told they are all busy, but will call me back. Needless to say, they never call. The only thing worse than an Electrolux refrigerator is Electrolux customer service. We are looking into the pending class actions or filing our own suit against Electrolux. DO NOT BUY this piece of junk.

Terrible ICE Maker

SAMMAMISH, WASHINGTON -- My family has an Electrolux refrigerator which was bought in 2010/8, model EW28BS71IS5. Last winter I turned off the ice maker because we went out for a long vacation. But when I tried to turn on it this summer, it doesn't work at all. Did some research on the internet, seems like this is a very common issue for Electrolux and they keep changing the design/upgrade kits. So I called service to check whether they could provide a solution. I got upset about the answer. They told me this issue was fixed in my model because my model has "IS" in it. And of course, my refrigerator is out of warranty, so I have to call some service company and pay for all of that.....

What's a lie!!!! I found so many similar problem reviews on the internet with "IS". Electrolux should face the problem more frankly, product over $3000 should definitely last longer than 3 years!!!

Refrigerator Ice Maker Problems

Purchased Electrolux french door refrigerator, freezer on bottom, ice maker located in refrigerator. Eight service calls within the first 6 months to remedy constant problems with inconsistent ice making. Woke one morning to find kitchen hardwood floor flooded as ice melted overnight. After a lot of screaming Electrolux finally replaced refrigerator. We were reluctant to get the same model, but they said the problem had been fixed.

Second refridge worked for about 4 months and ice maker problem started. Numerous service calls over several months. Electrolux stated they would no longer cover problem under warranty unless we extended the warranty for a ridiculous fee. We argued to no success that their high end fridge has never worked as it should. They basically said "tough luck." Service tech said that from his experience the extended warranty would not cover the total cost of future service calls and probably not a wise use of the money. The tech stated that Electrolux doesn't want to admit it is very bad design engineering. We are purchasing bagged ice from the store.

20 Year Old Refrigerator Is Better Than This $3300 Refrigerator

USA, CALIFORNIA -- I would not recommend this refrigerator, unless you like waiting for repairmen. I have had to have over seven visits from the repairman in the past eight months and my refrigerator still does not work correctly. The temperature of my refrigerator is at 53 degrees even after having the control panel and board replaced. The ice maker and water maker has not worked for the past year (it did make ice randomly for a week period, until the control panel was put in, and then it stopped working again.) When I talked with the repair company, they told me that some people are on their third refrigerator.

If you buy the product make sure that you purchase the extended warranty, keep your old refrigerator and be prepared to grow a lot of patience as you wait for the repairman.

Electrolux French Door Fridge

This fridge has been nothing but a terrible disappointment. We had it for a month when the ice just stopped working, the tray was empty. We are waiting for a repairman. Now the fridge is making a constant banging/knocking noise. It makes about 10 bangs in a row then stops, and restarts in about 2 minutes. It is keeping me up at night. The water dispenser is continually leaking, so there is water sitting in the dispenser all the time. When my kids open the fridge door, water falls onto the floor and makes a puddle on my new tile/grout. Very disappointed with the entire range of products that we bought from Electrolux. I thought we are getting a great brand... We were VERY VERY wrong.

Extended Warranty

I rang our extended warranty for a fault with this refrigerator, by the time the technician from Electrolux called the loud noise had stopped. He was unable to find a fault and this was charged to us. The service center people at Electrolux have been most rude, and have left a shouted message on my answering machine. Our refrigerator is still making the loud noise (sounds like a worn rusty part knocking sound) when the motor turns on, however, I am told that because the fridge was not making the noise at the time of the call out, that we are liable for the bill.

Please be aware that it does not seem worth paying for an extended warranty, as you have no control over how long the repairer takes to call out. We have wasted the money paid for the extended warranty, and now have to pay for a call out. The fridge is still faulty, but I am told if I call them out again that the same thing could happen, as it is an intermittent fault. We will never buy any product manufactured by Electrolux, Westinghouse etc, as the service people are rude and uncaring, and will never waste our money on an extended warranty again.

Worst Refrigerator Ever Made!
By -

We bought our fridge in April 2010. In July, the ice-maker stopped working. I called Electrolux and a repairman came twice to "fix" that problem. Then the water through the door wouldn't work. I called again and a repairman came out for that. Now the water isn't working again and the ice-maker is on again/off again. We're waiting on a repairman for that (and here we are at Thanksgiving week!).

Yesterday we went to the store where we purchased the refrigerator and asked what our options are. They called Electrolux and said they would make a decision within the next 24-48 hours as to whether they will allow the store to accept the fridge as a return. SERIOUSLY?? I think Electrolux should be PAYING ME for all the time missed from work waiting on the repairman! I think we need to have a class-action lawsuit against this company. Who's with me? It may be the only retribution that we have at this point.

Wave Touch Refrigerator Ice Maker Problems!!
By -

In July of 2009 I thought I was making a great purchase of a Electrolux appliances for my home. July 18th my appliances were installed and the ice maker on my wave touch refrigerator worked fine for 2 weeks. After that I noticed it would leak, partial ice cubes, and finally a week later wouldn't product ice unless I would manually pull the stop bar. I have about 4 service techs try to repair and circuit boards replaced etc.. Long story short nothing fixed it and hours upon hours wasted waiting and trying to get it fixed. After the 4th service call Electrolux replaced the entire fridge.

The ice maker now works but I still have very slow dispense of ice and the auger or something just doesn't seem to work right. For $3,500 one would think that something as simple as a ice market would work perfectly. If you are considering this refrigerator please move on!! I know their appliance looks great hence why I purchased but I am really kicking myself now and really wish I did more research prior.
