No Notification on Insurance Premium Increase
By -

MARYLAND -- Just got off the phone to cancel my insurance with GEICO. In my case, what happened was as follows... In the beginning, GEICO quoted me $95 a month. WOW! My old insurance Company was offering $115. What a deal! So, I immediately switched over to GEICO. GEICO had my car inspected, and everything was fine. They set up automatic monthly payments, so I did not bother much checking. Now, I find out that I was paying $130 instead of $95!

I called GEICO and their explanation was that the comprehensive coverage was added after my car was inspected. No one, however, told my that my monthly payment would increase by $40!! GEICO should have notified me, but they DID NOT. I have the feeling that I was lured with a low premium number to signup with GEICO, then they just raised the premium without notifying me. I believe this is a rip off. So, I am switching to another Company that is offering $85 a month guaranteed. I don't want to be ripped off again!

Overdrafted My Account, Won't Cancel Me
By -

I called Geico on 3/3/04 to obtain car insurance, agreed to quote (too high) gave them my account info to debit $250.50 for the down. Two days later they debited it, 2 more days they hit again for $212.50. Several phone calls and returned checks later (April 9) I received the last repayment. Grand total this cost me excluding the $250.50 was $337.50. I have requested this policy be cancelled on 4/3/04. On 4/12 I received a cancellation letter. They don't show that I requested cancellation. I'm sure they are trying to keep the remainder of the $250.50. I'm awaiting a call back now regarding this. I do not recommend this company to anyone!!!

Auto Insurance Greed
By -

After 13 years of auto insurance, Geico re-evaluated by driver's history and decided that a ticket received 18 months ago requires a doubling of my premium because of the "increased risk". My insurance had been reissued twice since then without any increase. I have had no accidents or other moving violations during the entire 13 years. This is nothing more than corporate greed. I am no more of a risk than in the last 13 years. One ticket may cause a slight increase, but two policy renewals later and doubling the rate? I don't think so.

Car Insurance Rip-Offs

I agree with other who have said that Geico raises their rates. My insurance went up $69+ and I had NO CHANGES -- no tickets, no address change, no accidents. When I called to question the increase they said that they had to raise their rates. The same problem was encountered with Progressive and AARP backed The Hartford. These insurance companies are all using a "bait and switch" system to get people to use their insurance company. They're all a bunch of crooks!

Paying for my not at fault accident
By -

After being involved in an accident in November which was NOT MY FAULT, I find out that my car insurance policy and my car financing does not have the GAP insurance. So after GEICO pays the "value of my vehicle", I am stuck with the remainder of the money owed to the finance company. What part of NOT MY FAULT gets me into deeper debt??? I'm sure they sold my car and/or the parts and were able to recover some of the money they spent out... Will NOT be a GEICO customer much longer...

Overcharged for Fender Bender
By -

I got into a tiny accident last year and I even had a picture of the small scratch on the other car. A year later, after I thought the situation was over and done with, GEICO raises my insurance from 150 to 400. Now, I don't know what to do because I don't have the picture anymore and I don't have money to hire a lawyer. I'm switching to another auto insurance company and I advise anyone with GEICO to switch before this happens to them.

Geico says I am 10% responsible when I am innocent
By -

A young man driving a car insured by Geico rammed my car when I attempted a legal right into my own driveway. Turn signal on. Geico representative says I'm 10% responsible for damages because I should have anticipated the little brat hitting me because I stated the road was busy for a residential. Dear Geico, wrong is never right. Dear Geico rep, and you know I'm speaking of you, you sassy little celestial being, you are due for some Karma.

Compliment

COLUMBIA, MARYLAND -- In the past, GEICO has been great with helping with two fender-bender accidents. Yesterday, when I found my car's battery was dead they were once again helpful. They had an easy-to-navigate phone directory and I was quickly transferred to the appropriate real human being, who was both easy to understand and helpful. Within an hour someone was there to help me. Thank you again for your reliable service.

When I Cancelled, They Tried to Charge Me Anyway.
By -

LAKELAND, FLORIDA -- When I cancelled, they tried to charge me anyway. They told me that I owed $410.70. The company actually owed me money. Then they tried to set the cancellation date back from June 11, 2004 to June 4, 2004.
