Bravos X500X worst washer EVER

Bought this washer and matching dryer at Best Buy Oct 2011. At first it seemed fine but after about 6 weeks, started noticing white residue all over dark clothing. As I wear mostly dark colors this is totally unacceptable. I use only HE liquid detergent and fabric softener in the appropriate measures.

Using extra rinse for every load but doesn't help. Use the Afresh product recommended by manufacturer regularly but all to no avail. Shocking that Maytag would sell such an inferior product. Always thought they had a reputation for quality which played a part in my buying decision, but would never purchase another product from them. Was $650 on sale and consider this the biggest waste of money ever. DO NOT BUY BRAVOS WASHERS! If you have a problem you'll get nothing in the way of assistance from their laughingly called Customer Service.

Maytag Dryers Are Junk
By -

Bought a new Maytag Bravo dryer in Jan 2011. It has crapped out already with very little use. Repair people have been out 3 times and now have to refer it to the factory for "model review board" which take a week. They have replaced the board ($375 + labor +-), a thermal fuse ($50 + labor+-) and another service call to determine they didn't know what was wrong and had to refer it to the Model review board. Been without a dryer for a week already and called the Maytag people this morning and told them I want a new dryer.

They said they have to exhaust all possibilities of fixing this piece of JUNK before they could move on to possible replacing the unit!! What a total waste of money and time. I will have a new dryer in my house this evening, and it won't be anything made by Maytag or Whirlpool, and will turn the case over to an attorney. BUYER BEWARE of any Maytag because the repairman ain't so lonely anymore. I have a BIG MOUTH and by the time I get through with MY advertising on Maytag they will wish they had replaced my machine many times over. Better Business Bureau is my next letter.

Maytag Bravo Dryer Lint Filter is very poorly designed.

We bought a new washer and dryer in May 2011. My previous Maytag set had been so dependable that I thought it was a good idea to get Maytag again. My previous washer and dryer was 30 years old. When I bought the new Maytag set, I was told at the store not to expect this new set to last that long. However, I didn't expect the lint filter to fall apart in the first month.

The felt that borders the screen came loose, and now every time I use the dryer and clean the lint filter, I have to shove that piece back into its slot. I don't know if it can be glued back in safely since it is subjected to heat all the time; would that be a fire hazard?? I looked online to see what a new filter would cost, and I found it for $35. Ridiculous! I never replaced a lint filter in a dryer before. Is this a racket or what? Very disappointed in Maytag.

The Maytag Bravo Series Sucks

I finally went for it and bought an expensive Maytag washer and dryer. It was the new 2009 Bravo set. Very nice looking set. First of all, I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this bells and whistles on steroid technology. The washer takes virtually all choices away from the user, and determines what variables will be allowed based upon their pre-set combination. I can live with most of these pre-determined selections, but sometimes it's frustrating.

The worst thing about the washer is that it becomes unbalanced A LOT!!! Two king sheets will unbalance it. Many times it becomes unbalanced for Goodness-knows-why. I had the Maytag Repairman come and look at the washer to try to determine if there was something wrong, but he said, "No, these machines just have a tendency to become unbalanced easily."

I can't imagine this machine lasting very long. The movements it goes through to wash a load is extreme. I'm sure that parts will wear out much faster than the older models. Especially with what it goes through to "right" itself when it becomes imbalanced. The repairman told me I should have bought a front loader. Great. That made me feel really good! I don't hate this machine, but if I had known what it was really like, I would never have bought it!

Not one Bravo for the Bravos
By -

VENTURA, CALIFORNIA -- Although the item seems to have unending variations, most cycles will beat your clothes to rags. Evidently, the unit weighs the clothes and determines how much water to use. Unless you're operating in the Bulky cycle, there is not enough water in the tub and the small domed agitator relentlessly beats the hell out of everything. I relocated my treadmill beside it to watch every cycle and situation. In addition to the water issue, the final spin sometimes does not happen.

Place ten 20" linen napkins in it and it will not produce a final spin -- just drain -- it cannot determine that there is anything in it, I guess. In short, purchasing this product is a mistake.

Warranty Marathon

Who would buy a product that the manufacture can't fix? If you like your Bravo, pray it never breaks! Is it a good dryer? I've had it for over a year and I still don't know! Countless calls to Maytag, numerous repair visits and parts replaced, still won't stay on long enough to dry clothes. It's being repaired under the original warranty and I purchased an additional 3 years. Think of the possibilities! Speed-dial to Maytag, never ending visits by the repairman. AND... four full years of wet clothes at no additional cost. Sad thing is, they are so very polite to me, while I sit and wait and wait and wait.

Maytag Bravos Washer and Dryers Very Poor Machines

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA -- Purchased Maytag bravos 5 years ago. Washer does a very poor job of cleaning and ties clothes in knots, and have problems with bleach leaching into the next load. Though the dryer works OK, sometimes even with the sensors, it doesn't dry jeans well if mixed with other clothes and the unit has rust on the outside already. My last washer and dryer never had rust and I had them 18 years.

BRILLION, WISCONSIN -- Press and hold the cycle signal _off low hi button when the light is off. Hold it in for about 7 or 8 seconds till you hear a noise. This works for both the washer and dryer. This fixes that annoying little tune the Maytag bravos XL makes when turning on and off ! Did it on mine!

Sucky Maytag Washer and Customer Service

I bought a Maytag washer, it is the worst investment I have ever bought. The machine doesn't clean my clothes and it balls up all my sheets and other clothing. Customer support SUCKS as much as the machine. Maytag, this will be my last washer I ever will buy from you. Plus this is the most expensive washer I have ever bought. FOLKS, reconsider buying a Maytag.
