Maytag Dishwasher - Can't Get the Parts!!!!
By -

MICHIGAN -- Dishwasher is just two years old. Stopped working in November. Needs a new control panel. Seems strange that a two year old anything needs a new control panel. Problem is, you cannot get it. It's been on back order since November and Maytag keeps changing the delivery date. I just spoke to Maytag and now the estimated shipping date is Feb. 2012.

The Maytag representative also said that Maytag had made the parts but they were defective and had to be remade. Which is probably what is wrong with the original part that is broke after two years - it was probably defective too. Very frustrating that no one can help you. You have to live with this problem and delay according to Maytag. Maytag is owned by Whirlpool so that makes both of them on my avoid list from now on.

Maytag Quiet Series Dishwasher Control Panel/Board Issues
By -

Same problems as everyone else, mine lasted 2 years and lights started failing on control panel. Not sure if board or panel problem but after disassembling back of door and checking board for problems€, would not start. Got so frustrated that I wrote Jeff Fettig (CEO of Whirlpool) last week complaining of this problem and which should be recalled.

Haven'€™t heard yet but always went to the top to get some satisfaction and would advise others to do the same, maybe they will build a better dishwasher in the future. Getting a Whirlpool replacement in a few weeks through Lowe's and hoping for a better outcome & more durability. Why did they have to go to electronics? The old turn dial worked fine & no problems!!!

No Service

We knew who the local repair guy was for Maytag, **, so tried contacting him for 2 weeks. Then called Maytag direct and he responded, apparently he has 24 hours to respond, he was slightly over, but at least he was responding! After he told us what was needed we gave the go ahead in less than 24 hours and provided a credit card number. After numerous unreturned calls we again contacted Maytag directly. They spoke with him and told me that he would be happy to come repair my dishwasher. Hang up from them, phone him, he hasn't even ordered the parts! How was he going to fix my dishwasher? But he would order them now, 2 weeks later, not!

Phone Maytag back, nothing they could do. Okay this is their company and there is nothing they can do? I agree that the Maytag guy is lonely since he isn't returning his calls, but what I read he could be a very busy man. Going out to likely buy an LG.

Dirty Dishwasher

I purchased a Maytag Dishwasher. After 6 months, I noticed dark line inside dishwasher near edge of door opening. Service came and said the problem was "Beaching" and there was nothing they could do. The problem has gotten worse. Now the washer smells after it has been run. There is an accumulation of small food debris all over the inside of washer. The dishes are cleaner when they are put into the washer. When the load is finished, there is food dirt all over the inside. No matter how many times I wipe the inside, the debris occurs. I spend more time washing the inside of the dishwasher than anything else. Never buy a Maytag again.

What a Piece of Junk

I bought a Maytag dishwasher, giving up my trusty Whirlpool, only to find out that it is an inferior product than my old dishwasher and worse, I paid a premium price for something I would not recommend to anyone. It does an inferior job of washing the dishes after almost 2 hours of grinding away, there is always sediment on my dishes and there is a grease slick on the inside door flange after each wash. Learn from my stupid trust of a brand name. When I contacted the company they played dumb on me and acted like I was the only complaint they received. DO NOT BUY ANY MAYTAG PRODUCTS!

Maytag Recall 2010 Horrible Service
By -

I received a fire hazard recall notice on my Maytag dishwasher and immediately scheduled my repair appointment. It is the holidays and I am not supposed to use my dishwasher until they get out here to repair it. I've sat here for hours waiting for the Maytag repairman to show up. No calls to tell me they will be late and the customer service person told me not to be upset because the repair isn't costing me anything! It is obvious they just want me to take them up on their "rebate" offer. Well they can forget that, as I will NEVER buy another Maytag appliance.

Dish Washer Rebate Delays

I've been waiting four weeks just for acknowledgement that Maytag has received my request. After 3 weeks I called to see if they had received it and was told to wait one more week. I waited and called back and was told I needed to wait ANOTHER week and if they still didn't have it, they would mail out another request form and we could start over.

What a scam! They deliberately stall, hoping that it will be forgotten about. I was not satisfied with the initial product (poor performance and noisy), and am not much happier with the higher end replacement (door and latching mechanism and fake stainless steel exterior). I will not buy another product from this company (including Maytag, Whirlpool, etc. that are all owned and made by the same company).

Arrogance Is All They Do Well

Maytag recalled my dishwasher due to a potential fire hazard. The dishwasher has to be removed to replace the faulty part, but the repair person says doing so probably will break the water pipe connected to it. Both he and I called Maytag several times, escalating as much as possible, trying to get Maytag (Whirlpool really) to pay for the plumber needed in order to make their dishwasher not a fire hazard. Not only do they refuse, but they do so in an arrogant, "what are you going to do about it?" fashion.

The higher up I went, the ruder they were, claiming that plumbing has nothing to do with their dishwasher. Without plumbing, their dishwasher is just a useless piece of junk taking up space in my kitchen. If they didn't make a fire-hazard dishwasher, I wouldn't need a plumber. I will avoid all Maytag/Whirlpool products in the future and suggest that everyone else do the same. Otherwise, add at least several hundred dollars to your purchase price, because eventually, it will probably cost you.

Another Recall
By -

Another recall?? I had an expensive stainless steel Maytag dishwasher. It was recalled in 2007 (fire hazard) my husband is an electrician and we both felt replacement was the safest choice. So, it was replaced at my expense with a plastic piece of junk (I only had a few models to choose from to get the rebate). Now in 2010, the replacement Maytag dishwasher is being recalled (Fire Hazard).

So, I am again expected to buy a third dishwasher, which I will be given about $150 toward (probably less 20% of the price). It seems to me, like there is a scam going on. I would love to own a business where I could expect my customers to buy my product over and over every 2 to 3 years.

Heartbroken!
By -

CLIVE, IOWA -- 3 yrs. ago my Maytag refrigerator died. I was so surprised when the O'Callahan appliance store truck (they closed 3 weeks later) delivered all new stainless steel kitchen appliances to my home! My husband was standing by the door smiling, so proud of himself for surprising me! I was elated! We have always had Maytag appliances and never had a problem until this time.

Within a month the ice maker and motor had to be replaced. Shortly after I noticed the dishwasher door was peeling. We couldn't afford another service call at that time. Now the refrigerator is making noise when the icemaker fills. I cleaned the oven and now the oven makes noise when it heats. My neighbors call them the "noisy lemons"!

3 days ago I noticed one of the stove top burners doesn't work. My husband is a small business owner and things have been slow so I have no option but to live with it. It breaks my heart to see my wonderful surprise fall apart! One fo our neighbors replaced their appliances and decided LG would be a better option! I guess we should have too. I realize you can't do anything about it, and probably wouldn't anyway, but it makes me feel better telling you about it. Thanks for listening!
