YELM, WASHINGTON -- I purchased a Maytag dryer in October of 2005. Since then the drum has come apart. Maytag replaced the drum in January of 2008. Since then it has been burning my clothing. I called Harold's Appliance in Lacey, Washington. They never said, "We don't' do warranty work on Maytag's because they don't pay us." They came out and looked at the dryer and then told my daughter, "We don't do Maytag warranty work anymore because they don't pay us". Harold's Appliance then charged my daughter $90.00 for the trip out. Harold's Appliance told me I would have to call A & E to get it repaired (the drum is pulling apart again).

I called A & E (Maytag) and they said they won't do anything about it as they already repaired it once. I said, "The repair wasn't done right or I wouldn't be having to call you again." Maytag said they won't do anything about it so here I am with a piece of crap dryer, a $90.00 service call (again) and a company that won't stand behind their product. I will never buy another Maytag product and will take every opportunity to let others know of their shoddy work and warranties.

LYNCH STATION, VIRGINIA -- Purchased Maytag dryer and washer in August of 2006. Dryer (MDE2375YTW) broke down last month after about 1 year 10 months of operation. The drive pulley on the motor cracked in two and broke the belt. They don't sell drive pulleys of this type anywhere - I would have to buy a whole new motor. Of course, I won't - this dryer is going to the junkyard. I have replaced it with a $70 used Kenmore dryer. Who wants to bet that the used Kenmore won't last twice as long as the new Maytag did? PS: The washer seems to always pop the circuit breaker too. I'll bet it has to do with the fact that the washer has the same quality level as the dryer.

PORTLAND, OREGON -- I bought a Neptune dryer in May of 2007. I had Sears pick it up and replace it in June. The second one is just as bad as the first. This dryer requires over an hour of drying time no matter the size of the load. When I live on a very fixed income this gets really hard to pay for after paying $900.00 dollars for the dryer. Sears has been out here twice and will be out again next week to see if this can be fixes. Your products have gone to crap since you sent them to Korea to be produced. I guess you find this OK since they know how badly they are made and will not buy them for their families.

TUTTLE, OKLAHOMA -- I purchased a washer and dryer set 1 year and 2 months ago and am still paying on these via my credit card. From the start the washer began making an very loud noise on the spin cycle. I am planning on replacing it with a different brand soon. Today my dryer also broke and even though there is power to it the motor will not run. These machines are 14 month old so guess what. NO WARRANTY. Now after over 600.00 I am headed out to have to buy me another pair. Think it will be a Maytag? Not just NO, NO WAY!

MENDHAM, NEW JERSEY -- I am never going to purchase another Maytag appliance ever!! They are the cheapest and most unreliable products we have ever owned. They make it sound as though they are superior, but in fact, the company seems to be using the Maytag name, and not quality parts!! Our gas dryer takes 80 minutes to dry an average load of clothes, while the washing machine, empties out when it feels like it!! You call the company, and a rep there tells, in a very smug way, "well it's a machine, and we never know how long it will last"!! Can you imagine saying that to a customer who spent well over 1000 dollars just a few years ago??? What a rip-off!! Buyers beware!!

After owning 2 sets of Maytag washers and dryers, and having them fail way too soon, is why I am writing this review. For years, Maytag was supposed to be a higher quality, and because of this belief, their prices have always been somewhat higher than others. Well, quality is gone. My first washer died at 2 years old, and the second lasted 8 years, but is now ready for the garbage. What happened to 10 or 20 years, as they advertise? Then you call customer service, and they offer nothing. I will never purchase another product, especially after reading the reviews of other unsatisfied consumers. SHAME ON YOU MAYTAG!

I purchased the Neptune washer and dryer on 6-30-06 and took possession on 7-03-06. The washer had problems from day 1. Now, 14 months after I purchased this Korean junk, the dryer took a "crap." It took several e-mails, calls and appointments with my attorney before the problem with the washer was resolved. I am seriously considering starting a class action lawsuit against Maytag for misrepresentation of their products. If you listen to Maytag commercials you would believe that Maytag builds a dependable product. In actuality, they do!

You can depend upon the Maytag products breaking down. Maytag's poor engineering standards, lack of qualified labor (made in Korea) and lack of customer concern has led to a company that now produces some of the most unreliable JUNK ever pawned on the American public. Prior to June, 2006 I would have recommended anyone to purchase a Maytag product. Now my advice is RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM ANY DEALER WHO EVEN CARRIES A MAYTAG PRODUCT! Signed a very very dissatisfied Maytag "mark".

WILBRAHAM, MASSACHUSETTS -- I purchased a Maytag washer and dryer set 8/30/04 thinking that I was buying "the best". You know, the one where the Maytag repairman just sits around and does nothing... Well, 12/04, I had two problems with the dryer. I called Manny's TV & Appliance in Wilbraham, MA and was told it was under warranty and to call Maytag directly, of which I did, it was repaired. By the second problem in the same month, I had stated to the customer service that I felt like I had bought a lemon and felt that the dryer should be replaced. Of which I was told they don't replace if it can be repaired.

In the beginning of August, 2006, the dryer didn't work again!! I called again. Now the warranty was up and Manny's couldn't help me, told once again to call Maytag and they said that I would have to have it repaired. Repairman came out from Manny's and $200.00 later my dryer was fixed, for $100 more I could have bought a new dryer!!

Then 8/29/06, same month, my dryer wasn't working again. Again Manny's sent out repairman and they wanted another $200.00 to repair it (different problem), mind you not even 2 years had I owned it!! I went to Sears and bought a new dryer. I was sold a Lemon, and neither Manny's nor Maytag would own up to that fact. Very disappointed and will tell everyone I can.

AUSTIN, TEXAS -- Like others on this website, I purchased a Maytag Dryer (Model #PYE 2300AYW) about 3 years ago, and it recently started making a lot of noise. Drying time has also increased. I called the Maytag service number, they charged $67.00 for a service call, and told me the motor is going out. The estimate to fix it was almost $300 (motor and pulley). What happen to the days when a dryer would last at least five years? As far as I'm concerned, Maytag is a huge ripoff. We're going to build a house soon and I can guarantee that no Maytag products will be purchased!!!

ONTARIO, CANADA -- Letter sent to Maytag. By looking at this site, looks like I'm probably wasting my time. Maytag washer AV505DAWW cost $1020 Cdn Tax in. Maytag dryer SDE505DAZW cost $788. Cdn Tax in. Purchased 11/04/03. The washer has failed 3 times. The dryer has failed once. We currently have no washer (6 days so far) as it has blown the main bearing, blew the seal out and flooded my laundry room and part of my basement. The warranty guy is waiting for parts, probably because they are made so poor that they are coming from some 3rd world country.

I have been using various washers and dryers for many years from GE to Kenmore. All have lasted many years and were purchased at a fraction of the price of these.Some used. We purchased your product and believed in your sales hype. We have been betrayed by your extremely poor products and you should be ashamed to sell such garbage. I purchased the extended warranty, GOOD THING. These are supposed to be COMMERCIAL grade products. I want some satisfaction and a reasonable answer that addresses the issues with these poor products. I will also be sending a copy of this letter to the Home Depot, and to the board of directors of the Maytag Corporation.
