Sears Repair Service

I have a Kenmore dryer that was in the house when I purchased it. I have no warranty but it is currently not working. I have made 2 appointments with Sears to come out and fix the dryer, both appointments were no shows on Sears part. We actually called them 2 hours after the first missed appointment and were told oh they're running late in which after another 2 hours still no show or phone call as to when they might show up. Second appointment I actually purchased a service contract hoping this would get them to show. I called them 2 hours into the designated time and they were surprised the tech hadn't called me yet to let me know their status.

The tech then called 30 min later to my cell from a blocked number and when I didn't pick up (because it's not glued to my hand) they claimed no one was home even though there were at least 3 people over the age of 18 in the home at the time. So I have now called back and cancelled my service contract. Why have a contract that I can't get them to honor and they have called 4 times to reschedule. Why so I can waste yet another day sitting around waiting for Sears. Worst of all dryer, still not fixed.

Bad Service Dept

SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA -- I was given an appt for the service technician to come and repair my dryer which I bought from USELESS Sears Stores. They gave me a date 3/25/10 to come by to look at the machine. It was supposed to be between 1 and 5 pm. I took a day off and waited and waited and waited. The technician lied and lied and lied that he will be there at 5.30, on his way, will be there at 5.45 and so on. Finally he stop returning my calls. Finally I called the home warranty company who sent Sears to my house at 6.45, the technician said that he cannot make it today.

This is Sears, An defunct, useless American institution. They wonder why there are losing customers and goodwill. I hope they fail in any and everything they do. BEWARE when they say that they are good in what they do. LIARS.

Rebates

HOFFMAN ESTATES, ILLINOIS -- Do not buy a Washer/Dryer from Sears and expect a rebate anytime soon. I've been waiting for a $75 rebate for over 2 months and have contacted Sears, even their corporate office, over 7 times with no luck. You are better off purchasing your washer/dryer where delivery is included. The difficulty I've encountered leads me to believe that this is bait and switch, enticement, whatever you want to call it, just to get you to buy their product. Not worth the hassle it has caused. Will never purchase another item from Sears with a rebate offer. Find a store that offers an overall lower price. They are out there and I wished I had not gone through Sears.

Delivery and Installation

LAWTON, OREGON -- I looked at a washer and dryer which my wife wanted from Home Depot and decided I would purchase the same unit from Sears instead. I called customer service (national and the Lawton, OK store) to make sure the items were in stock and that they would be installed. The customer service person told me I needed to purchase a new gas line if service was going to install the dryer (which I did). Then placed the order including a new gas line and a haul away charge for the old dryer making sure that the units would be both delivered and installed and the old dryer hauled away.

The units arrived today, and I was told, "€œWe can not install the dryer because it is gas and a plumber must do that. Additionally, we can not remove the old washer because a plumber is required to shut off the water (there is a shut off faucet right at where the washer hose connects)." Additionally, they could not hook up the washer because it must have new hoses and a plumber must turn the water on.€

Obviously, since they did not uninstall the old unit, and could not haul it away either. The washer and dryer cost about $150 more from Sears, and then there was a delivery and haul away charges bringing the total about $250 above the price from Home Depot where I would have had to pick up the units and then install them myself (I'm 66 yrs old). I have probably $20,000-$25,000 of items Purchase from Sears in the last several yrs, but I will never purchase another item from Sears!

Don't call Sears for Appliance Repair
By -

My middle-aged Kenmore gas clothes dryer broke down - no heat - on a Friday morning. I called the service number, and had a fairly unpleasant time dealing with the voice recognition software (no chance for a human contact). Eventually, an appointment was set up for a WEEK from the following Monday, anytime between 8 am and 5 pm. The voice told me that I would be contacted by phone when the repair person was on his way, and that if no one answered the call, the appointment would have to be rescheduled.

There was even a confirmation phone call on the Sunday evening before the scheduled appointment. On that Monday, I waited all day - no call - until 5:45 pm, when I was notified that the repairman had gotten tied up on other calls, and wouldn't make it. My service appointment would have to be rescheduled, and the earliest appointment I could get was a week from Tuesday!

More than another week without the dryer! I was fuming, but all I could get from the service operator was "sorry for the inconvenience." I then called a local appliance repair business, and got an appointment scheduled for two days later. I've always liked Sears appliances, but this lack of service or concern is unforgivable. They won't see me again.

Kenmore Isn't The Reliable Value - Buyer Beware!
By -

ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA -- What can we say, we should have done more research then we would have discovered before buying a dishwasher (that doesn't dry the dishes), a Washer (that takes 1 hour to run and the top has to be repeated slammed down) and a dryer (the light broke after 2 weeks, the drum was replaced under warranty and still makes horrible noise).

If I wanted to buy junk I would have bought budget valued items but I didn't. I bought upper grade Kenmore junk. All of these replaced 10-15 year Kenmore rock solid performance products. The question is how can Sears sell this crap as a follow up to quality products? Bottom line look at other brands. No way you could do worst. And the service is horrible!

Very Bad Service

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA -- Bought a wonderful Electrolux w/d. Both white, what was delivered was a blue and white. The blue's extra $. I was charged. Sears wanted me to eat the money if I kept the dryer until the white one came in. After many hours of hassling I kept the blue until the white (right one) came in. When the white one came two weeks later it was gas. I sent it back. Then Sears said they charged me right and began to fight with me about that. The worst is they were both to be stacked so the doors are on the same side making it difficult for me to transfer loads from one to the other because the door is in the way.

# months later I still need my items stacked. Sears promises me they will get someone out as soon as someone from the same store responds to their email. All in all it is a nightmare of an experience and I have been treated like I am the problem and have been given the runaround.

Just Another Sears Ripoff
By -

PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- I bought a washing machine at a Sears store. They were to deliver it, which they did. However, when they arrived they said they couldn't install it because there was no gas turnoff. They did not take away my old machine nor hook it up which I paid for. Later when I had a friend install it, there was indeed a gas turnoff.

I had chosen a rebate of 75 dollars plus $10 for taking the old machine away. I filled out the form immediately and sent it on the Monday after the purchase. I did not receive my rebate. When I called them they said that they had received it late and they wouldn't be giving me the rebate. This is robbery. I looked at the form I had filled out and it gave you three days to get the form in for the rebate. How ridiculous!

If it had been done by the day it was postmarked it would have definitely been there on time. I used to like Sears, but I will never shop there again and will inform everyone I know and don't know to do the same. I'm tired of being ripped off.

Kenmore Elite Washer And Dryer
By -

COLUMBUS, OHIO -- We purchased a front load Kenmore washer and dryer from Sears 3 years ago, after having been customer of theirs for major appliances for many years. We had problems with the washer from day one, and 14 pages of service calls (and charges) to prove it. No question the product was a lemon, but we were never given any satisfaction and just "had to live" with the problem of water never draining out of the tub and a constant mildew odor in the machine and on just laundered items. Then the heating element on the dryer went- it's 3 years old!!! We had the option to repair it ($345) or replace.

We took our problems to the Sears store manager, where we purchased the washer/dryer. After ONE MONTH of phone calls and e-mails back and forth, we were told there was basically nothing we could do, and that they have numerous washers and dryers at various price points that we could purchase. In our negotiations, we told them what we wanted... the washer replaced with a comparable one, that we would purchase at full price a dryer and we were also in the market for a flat screen TV and a Wii, which we would purchase from them. NO GO!!!

They have lost us a customers FOREVER - I will NEVER step foot in a Sears again, for anything! And we did purchase a new washer and dryer from HHGregg and they have been so helpful from the instant we walked in the store! I'm so glad that in this economy Sears business is so wonderful they can afford to lose long standing customers.

Horrible After the Sale Service Multiple Times and Still Going!
By -

LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS -- Interesting enough I have bought EVERY appliance I have ever owned from Sears. Shame on me. I had a freezer that the motor has now gone out 4 times, this freezer has been owned by me and only me for 4 years. I have had to leave it shut down because of the continues runaround by Sears customer service. I have been given the "we will be there between 12-5" so many times, I'm sick of it.

So sick of it I went to Sears and asked for a manager and asked him his thoughts. His thoughts were "that is not my department and I don't know what to tell you." I told Chris "that was not acceptable." My service on my Dishwasher/Freezer/Washer/Dryer/Fridge has been horrible and that is a compliment. It continues to get worse. I cannot get any answers or help when I call in and got hung up on 3 times prior to getting 3 words in.
