Door Handle Is Trash

Frigidaire refrigerator model FFHT1826LW4. Bought this fridge new for an apartment. The lower (fresh food) door handle broke after 8 months. Replaced it with a new handle which broke in the same place after 7 months. This is an obvious design deficiency. The place where the handle breaks is thin plastic less than 3/8 thick. New handles cost almost $38.00. Frigidaire/Electrolux needs to redesign these handles and go back to metal instead of cheap plastic. The elderly lady in the apartment lost her balance when the last handle broke and could have suffered a bad fall. I intend to report this to Consumer Safety Commission.

AUGUSTA, GEORGIA -- Since we purchased this FGHC2345LFO refrigerator in Dec. 2010, it has been problematic. The produce in the drawers would freeze solid. The temperature in the freezer would fluctuate on its own. We have had service call after service call. Each time they fix the freezing issue in one area, the freezing starts in another. My vegetables look like ice pops. Finally, after about 6 interventions with the drawers, the freezing stopped there and now the top area where I keep my milk is freezing.

When I call the company, or repair service, the issue always seems to be my fault. "Well, you went on vacation and weren't opening the door, so your milk froze. Your vegetables are in plastic bags, so they froze." I am not a physicist, but the temperature has to be below 32 degrees for something to freeze whether in a plastic bag or whether I am home. They will not replace the item since they consider each area of freezing a different problem. If the drawer freezes and they fix it, it's considered resolved even if the freezing moves to another area. I have written the CEO and e-mailed to no avail.

FGHN2844LM - We bought this refrigerator 1/2011 and now, 18 months later it does not work! From day one it has been the noisiest fridge I have ever been around. I agree with other reviewers that you have to turn up the TV to hear it over the noise of the fridge. Now the "mother board" has gone out so it will not stay cold. No help from the seller or Frigidaire. It will be over $600 for parts plus labor to fix. I would probably be better off just dumping this and buying another brand. I have always had GE products before. My old GE fridge was 20+ years old. Do not buy Frigidaire products.

My husband and I purchased the fridge last November to match the range we had purchased the previous year. As a child I remember that my mother had always purchased Frigidaire products and was very happy with them. We loved the range we bought and wanted a fridge to match so we were insistent on the stainless steel and not the painted one.

I am very disappointed with the fridge... the shelves are plastic and bow in the middle when heavier items are placed on them, we never had this problem with our previous fridge as it had REAL glass shelves. Also, the crisper drawers are not deep enough to even accommodate a stalk of celery so when I purchase one I have to trim it down considerably to fit it in the drawer. Not the design quality I was expecting from this company.

Noisy Refrigerator

I have exactly the same problem. My Frigidaire refrigerator is so noisy that I have to turn the TV up to hear it when the fridge is running, which is often. I hear it in every room of the house and my nerves are shot. I can't relax in the kitchen where I like to sit and drink my coffee or eat meals. I called the Frigidaire dealer to have it checked it and was told it was normal and working properly. I have never had a fridge that was this noisy. It has been the same loudness since the day I got it. I've put up with at it a long time and it is driving me crazy.

Does Anyone Stand Behind Their Work Any More?
By -

This refrigerator was manufactured in February of 2008 (only used since purchase on 8/1/2208) and it has already stopped working. First, the freezer would frost over (supposed to be frost free) and that would cause the refrigerator temperature to rise. Second, the compressor quit working on February 21, 2011. When I called the customer service number and was routed around several times the first thing they want to know is "did you purchase the extended warranty?" It would be nice to see a company actually stand behind its work! I guess that's what you get when products like this one were "made in Mexico".

No "Frigid" aire in my refrigerator

I purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator new. This appliance was manufactured in 03-05. Fourteen months after purchasing this product the compressor went out and had to be replaced. In 2009 again is quit working and I had to have it repaired and pay the charges. Not to my surprise when I got home tonight the refrigerator again is not working. All three times I lost all of my food, the cost of repairs, not to mention the headache, hassle, lost work hours waiting on the service repair company to show up etc. I would not recommend this brand at all. Three times and a new compressor in less than 5 years is NOT a quality product!!

Knocking Noise Nerve Racking
By -

Within 8 months of purchasing a Frigidaire refrigerator it stopped cooling. I was told it was the compressor. Took a week to get part. Wasn't the compressor. it was a leak. Took 3 weeks to get repairs done. After fixed it now makes a loud knocking noise most of the time. I was told they were surprised it didn't make this sound before. I was told it was normal for this brand to be noisy. It can be heard throughout the house and is very annoying. I have never heard a newer refrigerator make this noise. I am very unhappy with it and can't imagine having it for several years. I will never purchase this brand again and I will not recommend it to anyone.

Noisy Refrigerator

My Frigidaire refrigerator was delivered at the beginning of March and as soon as it was plugged in I asked the delivery person why it was so loud. He said it would take 24 hours to settle. Two days later I called the store where I bought the fridge and they sent their men to look at it. They then sent the Frigidaire service man to look at it. No one could explain why it ran and sounded like the hum of a power plant. The Frigidaire service man said that was probably just the way it sounded but he would recommend a replacement. The store owner where I bought the fridge came to my house and agreed to replace the fridge. I was assuming something was wrong with it.

Three months later after many calls and frustration, the fridge was replaced and what to my surprise, the new one is just as loud. I actually have to turn up my TV when it starts running and it runs for a long time. I can hear the fridge running in every room in my house. With tax, I paid over $600 for this fridge. So far, it's keeping my food cold but my nerves are shot.

Frigidaire Refrigerator

We purchased a Frigidaire, refrigerator in 11- 2009. Recently the freezer temp does not fall below 25 degrees. This happened days before Christmas and we lost hundreds of dollars in meats, frozen foods etc. As a consumer I am very dissatisfied and frustrated. The fridge is 4 years old, my last one lasted over 25 years. We paid $600 for the fridge, it's junk, the compressor failed. I had gotten 2 quotes from qualified techs.

I am spreading the word to consumer products and all my fellow employees, friends, family, etc not to purchase Frigidaire products. I may even set up a blog and network everyone. We are so fed up and frustrated and now we are forced to purchase another fridge and certainly not Frigidaire on one paycheck, my wife is laid off.
