BOWIE, MARYLAND -- We brought a Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refrigerator in July 2011. In March of 2012 the problem started. The water and ice dispenser stopped working. It works for a few days or weeks and stops. I usually find water on my kitchen floor as an indicator. Sears Repair has been to our home 8 times as of today. The tech spent 3 hours at my house last week, still not fixed.

They know that there is an electrical shortage, but they can't find it. It is not working now, they have ordered another part. Sears has REFUSED to replace the refrigerator, they just will continue to "fix" it. We do have warranty protection. I'm so tired of this. When you pay this much for a product you expect it to last longer. I will not buy another product from Sears.
PITTSFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS -- I bought a Kemore Chest Freezer, Model # 19502 in Feb 2011.
Today (July 16, 2013) I find that it was "on" but everything inside had thawed. There was no power surge, no power outage, it was plugged in, the light was still on. After turning the switch to off and back on, it didn't work so I hit the light. Magically the compressor turned back on.
So I've thrown out a freezer full of food to the tune of at least a $200.
This freezer is also the subject of a rebate because it does NOT meet the energy standards that it was advertised as meeting. The result from that was a check for something like $12 that I have to reapply for each year for 3 years.
MONTREAL -- Stopped working just over a year after being purchased. Huge runaround when trying to get it repaired under five year extended warranty. So far, many calls to "service center," two visits by repairmen, both times without the right parts, dishwasher still not working, parts "may be available" in another week or so. Poor quality machine (our last one ran for 15-plus years) and appalling customer service. Will never buy another Kenmore product.Add reply
Microwaves handle finish is coming off after one year. Refrigerator ice maker stoped working, then the door started making noise when I open it. Now the water doesn't come out and this will be the 5th repair person to come out, this is one year old also Add reply

I bought a new Kenmore refrigerator from Sears in 2005 and it went bad just a few days ago. I put a new relay starter on the compressor and it burnt that one up. I then was told it was the compressor its self the compressor is more than a new refrigerator, I have my old one in the garage have had it for 30 years and and it still runs.

I just think that its pretty bad that I have to throw it out when the repair is more than I can buy a new one for.
We have both a Kenmore top load washer and Kenmore cook top stove. We have always been strong supporters of Kenmore, as were our parents. However, both of these products have been disappointing. On the washer, the lid has to be "slammed" down to disengage the safety switch so the washer will run. The cook top stove, the simmer select burner has all together stopped working. Called Sears to make appointment for repairs, and will be charged a separate service call charge of $129. Would have been satisfied if they had waived one of the charges, but they would not budge.
Had a Whirlpool washer that finally stopped working after 15 years with no services performed, this is when we decided on Kenmore.
We will not be purchasing Kenmore products in the future and will advise family and friends to do the same.
Very, very disappointed in these products.
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- Purchased the five year maintenance prepaid plan for the appliances. Had lots of problems with dryer, now and having problems with the washer. Washer part was delivered to me on 12/16/10, and have yet to have a service representative to come to out home and repair it. I have received several calls concerning the repair, but they always have to go somewhere else. Will never purchase nothing else from Sears, crooked ass company in my opinion.1 Replies - Latest reply on 01/14/2011Add reply
I purchased a high-end Kenmore stove with self-clean convection oven seven years ago. I am now replacing the control board for the second time, each time at a cost of about $600. I will never buy a Kenmore brand again. 2 Replies - Latest reply on 11/11/2010Add reply
Don't Buy It
It's clear that Kenmore is riding on it's old reputation of reliability while currently manufacturing junk. We have two recent model Kenmore dishwashers at two different houses. Both have developed leaks ... read full review3 Replies - Latest reply on 09/24/2010
Kenmore Washer Broke After 3 Months
PRINCE FREDERICK, MARYLAND -- WOW, Never thought that Kenmore appliances would turn out to be JUNK. After 17 years we replaced our Hotpoint washer with a Kenmore. Imagine my shock and horror when after only 3 months the washer started ... read full review3 Replies - Latest reply on 09/24/2010
We purchased the set in Dec. 2006. I was so excited to get it. As time went on, I started noticing things about the set that I didn't like. The washer does not clean well. It just ties all the clothes in knots and I have to shake them all out before putting in the dryer. I have recently noticed that there are spots on clothes that were not on them before washing. Also, after drying them, they are so wrinkled that I have been ironing everything. I have kept the set because of the cost. Its not something you can just get rid of and buy new ones. I don't think I would buy another set again. The instruction manual says to make smaller loads if there is wrinkling, but that kinda defeats the purpose of buying a bigger machine to wash bigger loads.

From day one the oven would beep that the desired temp had been acquired, but the thermometer we installed said it was not as hot. Called the repairman several times with no success. A few months ago the self cleaning broke, a few months later the broiler quit and now 3 1/2 years old and the entire oven quit. My Elite Dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes unless I pre-wash. I won't have any more Kenmore appliances without an extended warranty. 1 Replies - Latest reply on 06/12/2010Add reply
MOOSE JAW -- The appliances were new purchased by the builder in 2009. We moved into the home and started using them end of February 2010 -- almost 11 months after initial purchase date.

The refrigerator had a faulty door that would not close properly. The service man had to dismantle the entire door complaining about poor quality control and getting worse every day. He did fix the problem under warranty.
Now in June the handle on the range fell off. It appears that the screws stripped the plastic handle insert and since the screws are about 1/4" to short anyway, the entire handle fell off. When I called the service dept. a very rude woman by the name of Vanessa flatly refused to connect my call to the contracting division who took care of my previous refrigerator complaint, and in fact hung up on me.
After I check with some friends I find a number of them categorically say "never again Kenmore", the product is poorly manufactured, the warranty service time takes forever and the number of breakdowns are excessive.
My water heater's pilot keeps going out. I'm positive it's the thermocoupler.

I contacted Kenmore since it's only halfway through it's six year parts warranty.
I was told that I had to have a service person come out to check it and determine if a new part was needed. If so, they'd order it, I'd have to wait for it to be shipped and have the service person return and install it.
The part would be completely covered this way though I'd be responsible for two separate service calls at $75 each.
I could just pay $48 to buy the part and install it myself but it just seems wrong to me.
I just thought I'd put it out there as a warning to others. Maybe I'm wrong and this is business as usual.
I purchased many new appliances for my home seven years ago, most of them Kenmore. I want to people to know what a poor performer the Kenmore brand is. It started with the dishwasher after one month, that one was exchanged for a Bosch (much better choice, no issue whatsoever). The stove continues to misbehave one burner is hotter than others they have to periodically be replaced and the oven element is now not heating evenly. The Washer is a complete failure and I cannot even afford to repair it again the control panel continues to select it's own settings. The built in microwave oven handle has now broken off and there appears now way to re-attach it. It is such a depressing situation to have fairly new appliances break so often and really at a relatively young age. Please save yourself the grief and look at other brands, Kenmore is truly the worst and Sears does not stand behind their products after a year. 2 Replies - Latest reply on 01/27/2010Add reply
