Will Never Buy Kenmore Products Again
By -

I bought both a Kenmore Elite Series front-load washer and steam dryer and am extremely unhappy with both of them. The washer developed mold on the front rubber seal and I have been unable to remove it. Mold has also infested the rest of the washer and I cannot remove it because it is in places that I cannot reach or clean. As far as I am concerned, this is an environmental health hazard and totally unacceptable.

The dryer has ripped and torn my clothes, sheets, towels, etc. and numerous complaints have been met with apathy. I have replaced the lint filter three times because it does not fit flush and grabs the clothes while they are drying. It then proceeds to twist and tear them, leaving permanent creases in the material.

In the past, I was always happy with my Kenmore appliances and recommended them to others. However, I have bought my last one. Whenever I see the Kenmore name on anything now, I walk away. Is Sears really happy with all of the bad reviews that the Kenmore name is getting? I predict that they will be the next big company to go out of business unless they change their practices.

My gas dryer dried but clothes had bad smell-like gasoline or some chemical.

I called Sears and the repairman came and said I needed a new burner assembly. I started calling around and checking whether I should buy new one or repair it. LUCKILY, one reputable serviceman asked me on the phone if there had been any painting going on. I had, in fact, polyurethaned the two wooden arms of a beach chair and an outdoor planter. It turned out that I needed nothing, ONLY NOT TO PAINT WHEN THE DRYER WAS GOING. I have now been on the phone for over an hour to complain to Sears as I have no intention of paying for poor service.

Sears Dryer HE2

We bought a washer/dryer set from Sears and a couple of weeks ago the dryer stopped working. All the lights were blinking sporadically. We set an appointment from 8-12 and the Sears tech called at noon and said he could be there in a couple of hours. I lost a half day's work and rescheduled. The next tech showed up at the last minute of the time slot and opened up the dryer to find it had been incorrectly installed, causing lint to fill the interior and fry the circuits. The receipt stated "Installation Error". He said he thought they should replace the machine as the repair bill was going to be about $1300. He sent that as a recommendation.

We contacted customer service and they always seemed to pass the buck to someone else until we finally got to the "Blue Ribbon " team. They offered only a minor discount and wouldn't even cover re-installation for a new machine. Since it is a set we are also stuck replacing the washer, too.

One of our biggest complaints is the lack of care and responsibility across the board. They said any other company wouldn't do anything either, yet I have had wonderful experiences at stores like Costco, Trader Joe's, and REI, to name a few that stand by their reputation, and we have remained loyal and regular customers with them. Lastly, we received a strange email from their "social media support" team to follow-up on our situation but with no phone number and they never returned our email. Not sure if it is a scam or just more poor service from Sears.

Sears Kenmore Stackable Washer/Dryer is a Piece of Crap
By -

We bought a Sears 2009 model Kenmore stackable washer/dryer less than 2 years ago for our small cabin. Within a few months we got a letter from Sears informing us of a problem with it and that we needed to call Sears to schedule for a repairman to come out, so we did & he came and fixed whatever the problem was, of which we do not know???

Ever since I've used the washer we've always noticed that it makes a loud hammer type noise when it agitates. Last month I was washing aloud when I smelled a burning smell, I hoped it was just my imagination but it wasn't because then I saw smoke coming up from the washer. We immediately shut it off, so now we're stuck with a broken down washer $800 down the drain! We will never buy Kenmore or give Sears a drop of any more of our money, needless to say we are steamed!!! To put it mildly.

Repair Service Dismal

I have a extended warranty on my dryer - purchased separately. My dryer started smelling like it was burning. I called the repair office to schedule an appointment. The "operator" told me to try running the dryer again! I told him it was burning up. He scheduled an appointment for 2 weeks later! They did not show up at the appointed time. Received a phone call saying he was on his way but he did not show up for 2 hours.

Then the repairman reeked of cigarette smoke! He barely talked to me about the repair which involved replacing the motor. After he left I realized he had left his calling card behind which was the cigarette smoke odor - which turned out to be from the repair replacements box and wrappings. It took me tossing the trash out, leaving the laundry room open etc before the odor was out of my house. The repair was covered under the warranty but the service was unacceptable. Then I received a call to sell me more warranty policies!

No Customer Service

My wife and I purchased a Whirlpool washer and dryer combo (over $3,000) from the Columbus, GA store. We had to wait over three weeks for delivery. When they finally delivered it, they could not get the dryer to work. We had to wait two more days for a tech person to come by. He did come by and had it working. The next day, the washer and dryer stopped working. We contacted the customer solution center and they said it would be over a week before someone could come by.

After much complaining, they finally moved it to three days later (Monday, in which I would have to take off again). Finally, I tried the local store to see if they could help. After much exasperation, I asked them to pick up the units and refund our money. They said it would be a week before they could pick them up. It would be another 7 to 10 days after then before we would get our money back. It is a shame that they are only nice and helpful when they are trying to sale you something. We will never step foot in another Sears store or purchase anything from them online!!!

Sears Cares Executive Team

We had some difficulties with Sears and their Price Adjustment Policy. Our first contact with Sears asking for an adjustment was not met with many helpful voices. Sears Holding Company called today and agreed that they had made a mistake. They promptly refunded the $385.00 as per their Price Adjustment Policy. Don't ask, you don't get. We asked and they responded as per their own policy.

Recommend everyone who has a problem, simply email smsupport@searshc.com. I assure you, they will help and you won't be pulling your hair out after 90 minutes of frustrating phone time. The Executives at Sears Holding Company need to know that the Sears Care Team really does a terrific job. They need to be expanded.

Inflexible, Uncaring, Inhuman Warranty Repair Service
By -

PENNSYLVANIA -- 10-year-old Kenmore Dryer. Called for service end of May; one week later a repairman came out and said it was running. Two hours later, not working again! Called SEARS, earliest time to come out? One week later. That was yesterday. Came out, replaced a part, said it's running. Tried to use it this morning (first time since yesterday) - not working! Called SEARS, earliest time to come out...a week from Monday (1+ week)! I would think someone could see this as non-routine and get someone out here a little faster. All they can say (even "supervisors") is "This is the earliest the system has." Who is this "system" and can any human override it? We will NEVER buy SEARS again.

Sears Kenmore Elite HE3 dryer handle breaks every 6 months!
By -

HOFFMAN ESTATES, ILLINOIS -- I purchased the Sears Kenmore Elite HE3 dryer in 2004. Over a period of 6 years I have had to replace the cheap plastic handle 10 times. I have told them about this problem and all they ever do is apologize and say that they can send someone out to look at it, but they are sorry, but they can't provide me with a free handle. My door is now breaking due to the frequent disassembly of it to replace the handle.

I don't need a free handle, I need a handle that won't break. Why is this problem not being addressed? They don't seem to know what is going on. The customer service people have no authority to provide any real help. I would never buy another Kenmore product. If you have a problem they will do nothing.

Don't Trust Sears' Scheduling
By -

WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- I scheduled a repair appointment for my dryer on Wednesday for the Saturday before Memorial Day and delayed my travel as I needed the dryer fixed. Scheduling was remarkably easy, though the service department could not confirm that the repair person would have the correct circuit board (which I suspect is the problem) in spite of me giving the model number. However, I expected two visits from any service company. Now at 6 PM on Friday they call to cancel and tell me no technicians are available on Saturday and no appointments are available for 12 days.

Needless to say I'm pissed. I could have gotten someone else if they had told me, but on 6pm on a Friday before a holiday there is no way I can get this fixed. I understand that conflicts happen, but it seemed to matter of fact for them and there was no attempt to accommodate my schedule. I will never use or recommend them after this experience.
