AAA Batteries Are Worthless and the Warranty Is a Scam.

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- I originally purchased a battery from AAA 1/3/2014 and it lasted until 1/9/2017, which had to be replaced at a prorated cost. Today, 1/5/2018 I called AAA because my car would not start, a Rescue Ranger checked the battery and told me the battery tested low and that it had to be replaced. I feel ripped off because the battery being replaced did not last a year.

The Tech. told me I had to pay based on the 4th year of a 6 year warranty which I feel is a total Scam. I have been a member of AAA for 20 years and I feel safe having the service and have had to use the roadside service several times without any complaints; but I will never buy another battery from AAA, I have never had a "new" battery last less than a year. The Technician was very polite and helpful, but the product stinks.

PENNSYLVANIA -- Horrible, horrible, and more horrible! I purchased a AAA battery 2years ago. I had the battery checked by a friend and 2 reputable businesses. In each case, the battery needed to be replaced! Since I thought it was covered by warranty I called AAA. After several days they came out and checked my battery. It passed! I showed the serviceman the other 3 results. He said, "Tough luck because mine is the only one that counts." Being honest and having all the paperwork and tests results simply do not mean anything. Please do not buy AAA batteries. They are horrible and the warranty is non-existent. Never again, NEVER AGAIN!

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA -- AAA tested my battery after it had gone dead due to a light being left on in my car. They did not try to charge it. The AAA guy told me that he could tell by the test that it was a bad battery which could not be charged. He sold me a new battery. He left with the old one which was barely more than a year old.

After talking to my friend who is a car mechanic he said there is no way to tell if the battery can be charged by a test if there is no attempt to charge the battery first. The only way to know is to try to charge it. When it cannot be charged they can do a test in order to find out why it cannot be charged, and to decipher whether there is something fixable or not.

I've contacted AAA numerous times and they were unwilling to give me back my battery and refund my money. I strongly suspect that my battery was a good battery as I never had a problem with it before and it was so new. If the guy had just tried to charge it, I would have had no reason to buy another battery. My car mechanic said that the guy just wanted to sell me a battery because I'm a woman and figured I wouldn't know any better. Well now I do. I will be contacting my state Atty. Gen.'s office. This is highway robbery not roadside service!

AAA Will Not Honor Battery Warranty

MOORE, OKLAHOMA -- I called AAA to replace the bad battery that was under warranty. They sent out a mechanic who tested it, said it was very low... but that he could not say the battery was bad. He tested it again and said my car had something pulling on the battery that caused it to die. He said he could not replace it because there was not enough evidence that the battery was bad. The alternator was fine - I drive this SUV very little and never had trouble before. I jumped it 4 times in 1 day and left it run 30 minutes, would not stay charged. The mechanic took the battery out of the car, told me to buy a charger and put on it in the garage and call AAA back if it doesn't hold a charge - really?

I noticed another complaint was of the same nature, there was something wrong with the car that caused the battery to die. I think AAA just doesn't want to honor their warranties!!! I'm taking the battery to NAPA and have it tested and if it shows a bad cell, then I'm going to call AAA back with the evidence. Surely, they will honor it then... who knows.

AAA 'Storage Battery' Does Not Store Power.

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- The service from AAA and Armada towing is excellent, if only the AAA branded battery was at least half that in quality. I usually drive my 2009 Mazda 6 (27k miles) every week as a legacy commitment to my late wife; but, after letting it sit for just short of one week, I was forced to call for a jump. They said it checked out and I just needed to run the car FORTY-FIVE minutes to recharge. While I realize all of these people are operating within 'SOP', I wonder if their "QC' may gave fallen a bit short, for the sake of a low bid contract. Personally, I would happily pay much more if the agent could offer an AAA option from a name contractor, such as Interstate.

AAA Battery - Excellent Service and Battery Works Great

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA -- I used the AAA Battery Replacement service about a year ago and am very pleased. I used the customer service phone number to call in that I had a dead battery (at home) and a AAA battery truck was dispatched immediately. I was sent a text message with a link to the online map to track the service truck to my location. I had never seen or used this before and it was really an added bonus to me! The technician also called en-route to also let me know he was on the way and what time he would arrive. I waited only 20 minutes! He was right on time, was very clean, knowledgeable and polite. He installed the battery in the Florida heat while I waited inside my home (in the AC). It was quick and easy. The convenience of having the battery installed without having to tow it was super. He even went the extra mile to reset my after market radio in the car so the clock was correct. I want to be fair in stating that I work for AAA but not in the automotive line of business. This review is my personal opinion as a customer. The technician, nor the customer service representative I called knew I was an employee of AAA.

AAA Battery Warranty

PENNSYLVANIA -- I have been a AAA member for many years. Had a dead battery in my vehicle about 2 and a half years ago - they came out to jump. Told me it tested bad - offered to replace it with a new battery with a 3 year warranty. This battery is now dead, multiple calls and visits later they tell me they cannot honor the warranty because their test shows more draw than allowed with key off - they suggest I have it checked by local shop.

I have the vehicle in to local shop and they test and tell me the battery is bad and no key off draw found. Battery is dead again a day later - another visit from AAA. I give them the report from shop - they don't honor it - tell me I have to take the vehicle to one of their shops to be evaluated. Bottom line is they do not honor their warranty. Buyer beware. Do not buy from AAA.

WISCONSIN -- I saw a post about someone buying an AAA auto battery from an AAA affiliate when stranded. I also was in that position last year and made the same mistake of buying that same junk battery with a 3 year replacement guarantee. Well 6 months later it failed. I had the car towed in and checked out. Of course the battery failed. Of course AAA could not find any place that handled their battery within 50 miles of my home (that shows you what the professionals think of their battery). And of course they are doing all they can to avoid honoring their warranty. Buyer beware!

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I bought a battery from AAA 2 years ago, I knew I was going to pay a little more but it was so convenient. I just came home from work, had them meet me at home, and install. 2 years later, I go out of town, leave the trunk open for 5 days. Battery dead. They tell me I need to replace. Wow, I knew I paid more for the battery, but I thought I was getting a good quality battery. They told me it's the elements, I park in the garage or underground, car rarely in Houston heat. They could not have been nicer about replacing, of course I did not tell them I had recently bought battery until after they said it needed to be replaced.

Fraud and Carelessness on Part of AAA for Customer Service

HONOLULU, HAWAII -- My neighbor and friend had a battery fail and called AAA to have them replace the failed battery. The service person put in a battery but it turned out it was used and failed. My friend had to open the store he works with so he had gone out to make sure the battery was working. He called AAA and found out that this was not a new battery because they only had a used on hand. He was understandably upset and told them he had to open the store he works for and needed to go early in the morning. This meant he had to get up at 5:00 a.m. to keep calling to try to get a service person out to give him the new battery.

I find this action fraudulent and extremely careless. A total lack of truth about the condition of the battery they replaced and a lack of regard for the need for this person to be up and going to his work and delayed due to their action. AAA charges a lot of money for not a lot of service.
