AAA Roadside Assistance Gets Worse Each Year!

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO -- Absolutely the worst waste of money and will be the last time I renew AAA. It has become useless... calls for service take anywhere from one hour to three hours, even when there is no weather detriment such as blizzard, snow or even rain. Customer service agents are snarky and apathetic and the charge for 'peace of mind' has become outright theft. When you pay for service, you should get it! AAA has sunk to the lowest level I have ever seen in my decades of patronage and is no longer worth even one-quarter of the amount they charge for absolutely HORRIBLE service! It's no wonder that there is one terrible, angry review after another -- AAA does little to nothing to provide timely help in awful situations.

Never Buy AAA Battery

MASON, OHIO -- I bought battery in Nov 2015 from AAA road side assistance service. I was told that it has 3 yrs warranty and they will replace if there are any issues within 3 yrs. Last night, my car did not start, I called AAA, they sent their vehicle, who said I need to replace the battery. As an interim solution, he did jump start off my car and I was able to reach home.

This morning, I called AAA and asked them to send their battery service vehicle to replace/service my battery. He came here and said they cannot replace the battery unless I prove that battery doesn't work even after re-charge. I told him to recharge the battery and check. He asked me to go to nearby car service center to do that. I told him that I cannot go out now and I can go only after 4 hours. He asked me keep the car ON for next 45 minutes and then battery might work when I start the car after 4. hours. I did as he suggested but the car didn't start now.

I called AAA again for assistance, they asked me to wait for another 2 hours. It's almost 2 hours now, and the status still shows they received the request. They just wasted my whole day. They clearly don't want to replace the battery even though it is in warranty period. Why they give warranty in first place when they ask me to recharge the battery when it is not working? I will never ever buy AAA products from now.

Took the Car - NOT the Passengers

PINE MOUNTAIN, GEORGIA -- When my car was in an accident 17 miles from home, I called AAA and they asked if I was in a safe place. I said not really. They eventually sent out roadside assistance, but there were 3 people in the car, and the tow truck could not take 3 passengers. Their ONLY suggested solution was to leave one or more of us (all female senior citizens) by the side of the road, with no buildings in sight and dark coming on, miles from the nearest town. Then, IF we managed to find a rent-a-car place open in a small town at night we were supposed to go back to get the stranded old lady. I literally hitched home with a stranger who drove 15 miles out of his way to get me home.

Roadside Assistance Experience

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I am a disabled 68 year old senior. I had AAA for many years without problem. My car broke down in Jamaica Plain MA and I called for Roadside Assistance. I was told service would arrive 45 minutes or less. It did not arrive in 45 mins. I got several call (AAA Supervisor, AAA Customer Service Rep and a AAA Roadside Business). No caller identified themself by name that I remember. I was very upset that not one person that I had interaction with was truthful or apologetic. I heard one lie after another until I raged and cancelled the service call.

The company dispatcher did not relay the cancellation to his driver that was upset with me and rude with me. I have never had worse service than that day in all my life. I left my car broke on the side of the road. I will fix it. I will not ever call roadside assistance again. I will not renew my membership. I do not waste words, time, or money. I expect honesty, promptness and service.

Horrible Service--Waited 3 Hours for Truck

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA -- On May 14-- no snow, no rain, perfect weather--my daughter waited from 8:15 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for a truck to show up in a Burger King parking lot. I called in 4 times. The sun set at 8:30, Burger King closed at 10, so she waited in the dark for almost 3 hours. All AAA said was that the service station they use in that area was very busy, and they were absolutely unwilling to call a different station. When tow truck did arrive, they told my daughter that only 2 drivers were on duty. Why doesn't AAA use more stations? They truly don't care about their customers or their customer's safety. Their apologies are meaningless. Absolutely horrible service!!

Over 3.5 Hours Stuck With 5 Families on a Desert Road!

COLORADO -- I have been a premium member of AAA since 1996, 22 years this month. I recently took a trip to Arizona with four other families. 70 miles outside of Tucson, our water pump gave out. Embarrassing but, we had AAA so it should not have been a major calamity. The AAA agent said help would arrive within 90 minutes. We transferred our necessary items into our friends cars and awaited the cavalry.

At the 90 minute mark, still no tow truck. The kids were getting hot and it was becoming stressful. We call AAA again and they said help should be there within an hour... In reality we waited for over 3 1/2 hours. I am very disappointed in the lack of accurate information that was given to us and will be changing my service to good Sam at the end of this month!

LATHAM, NEW YORK -- I hit a pothole last night about 6 pm. It is not 1123 am the next day. AAA? It does not exist!! Roadside assistance? What a joke. How many hours does it take to get a response. Well, at 10 am there was finally someone available to answer the call. And 1 1/2 hours later? I am still answering questions about where the car is (5 miles away straight down Rt 7) and what type of tires I have (do I need that information, I just asked to have the tire changed to the spare.) Worthless. Do not spend your time nor any money on AAA. If you need any kind of assistance, do it yourself or hire a local garage. Do not call AAA since all that will happen is to waste your time.

Misrepresentation

ROCK HILL, SOUTH CAROLINA -- So I have been with Triple A for less than a year, but when they sold me on it it was explained to me that was unlimited roadside service. I was put on a 2 year plan, I had plan for my boyfriend and a plan for me so we had them jump start our car (2) times and put gas in my car (once) and fix a flat (once) and unlock my truck (twice). They said it was the max but if you count these numbers it does not add up to 8. It added up to six. And then on top of that I asked them I have 2 different memberships one for me and one for him so breaking it down what they told me 4 times per person. That's all. Shady as **. I'm doing with Triple A and they can go ** themselves.

Poor Service

My daughter moved from Michigan to Seattle Washington and we were told that she was still covered under our roadside assistance. We were relieved that she still had coverage. Tonight she was skiing at Crystal Mountain and her car wouldn't start. She called the roadside assistance number on the card and waited for a return call. It never happened.

When she called back the representative stated that AAA providers don't go to that area. I was under the assumption that AAA was everywhere in the US. What really upsets me is the fact that the representative didn't call her back. She could have been stranded somewhere and froze to death waiting for their call. It is unbelievable that AAA will not call back customers immediately if they have trouble finding a towing company.

Horrible Service

ORLANDO, FLORIDA -- Whatever you do don't ever call AAA to replace your battery because their testers will always say the battery is good. Here's what happened, for about a week, I knew I was driving around on a dying battery, because it was getting harder to start by the day. So one morning it was completely dead! Called AAA and told them, I needed a new battery, guess what? They sent the regular pick up truck with NO Battery, so the guy tested the battery and said it was good, that maybe my alternator was bad. He jump started the car, it started and when I went into the house to get my phone, I noticed he had turned the car off & left the keys in the door.

So I tried to start the car, of course it was DEAD. Got a neighbor to give me a jump start, let it run for 30 minutes and took it to Auto Zone. They ran their tests and sure enough, it was a bad battery. They installed a new one & I haven't had a problem since. The morale of this story, only use AAA for the simple stuff like changing a tire or a discount at Denny's.
