10 years of premium service fees wasted

NEW YORK -- Absolutely worst service I've ever experienced in my entire life! 10 years of fees wasted. After 10 years of service at the premium level I was denied a tow for a motorcycle because I had just moved, and the new NYC club didn't register our previous motorcycle coverage. After 45 minutes on the phone all they could say was "it looks like you renewed online and motorcycle didn't transfer, you have to call an agent to get motorcycle transferred", how would we ever know that? We're military and move about every 2 years, so we just transfer online each time, no one ever stated we had to call in to an agent for motorcycle specifically. Even better, they said I could pay the motorcycle fee for NYC BUT, it would take 72 hours to go through before they could get me a tow. I've been a member for 10 years, my bike is broken down on the side of the road, and there's no way to get a tow for 3 days!?! I saw an article about how they're hemorrhaging money, and this right here is exactly why. Even after being escalated the "senior" response agent couldn't care less about the situation. 10 years of renewals absolutely wasted.

SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- I was at Bullfrog Marina Lake Powell Utah. I had a problem with my boat trailer. I contacted AAA. They told me they had someone on the way to help me at 9 AM in the morning. No one ever showed up. My cell phone went dead. I was able to use someone else's phone contact them again. They promised me someone was on the way to help me. Over and over. Two days later no one showed up. They put me in contact with a manager. And he said, "We're not able to help you." I nearly died. 105+ in the desert and stranded. I would never recommend AAA to anyone ever.

AAA Told Me My Battery Failed Their Test, but Autozone Said It Was Fine

GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA -- Ok, I'm the idiot that left my car lights on overnight, then discovered it when attempting to put something in my trunk. I fully admit that. I call AAA for a jump, and they responded within 30 minutes - no problem there. The technician or whatever you call the tow truck guy diagnoses my battery and it fails. So, of course he has one he can sell me for $149.00 and he'll "throw in the installation." I look on my phone and find that Autozone prices are better, but then he tries to convince me that it's only a couple of dollars difference. I had to insist on him just giving me a jump. Of course, after letting it charge up a bit, I drove to Autozone, and miracle of miracles, the battery passed the ok battery test. What a scam!

LANSING MICHIGAN, MICHIGAN -- Over 2 1/2 hr wait for AAA roadside assistance to get help for a flat tire on my car. Poor communication from AAA. They weren't going to call/text me back until they had a service truck scheduled to help me. At an hour I called for status. At 2 hours again I called for status. At 2 1/2 hrs again I called for status. At the 2 hr call they stated they had so far called 17 stations who all refused to take the service request. So I phoned some of the companies that declined. 3 of the companies that were 8-14 miles away told me they would not come that far for a AAA call, but would for a regular call or other insurance coverage. The contracts that AAA has with these service providers is such a low amount that the service providers decline taking AAA service requests. Other factors - this was not rush hour on a busy day - this was a Wednesday evening starting 6:12 pm until 9 pm. This was not in a rural secluded area - I was in a urban area, in Lansing MI by Home Depot only 3.3 miles from the state capitol. It was close to 9 pm before a service truck arrived. This was horrible service, especially since I am a "Plus RV" member, of which I've had my membership since 1999 (20 years)! This was horrible service.

If You Use the Product Offered, You Could Have the Membership Cancelled

WILMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- My daughter was cancelled off our family membership without due warning because we used up all the calls a year ago and they renewed our membership and cancelled it 2 months later. We have not called them in at least 10 months but because we had too many flat tires living next to the construction of apartment buildings and used all of our calls it was cancelled. Sharon at the corporate offices told me that AAA Carolinas is doing this the most for some reason. She also said that Roadside Assistance is not their only product and they really don't care if they have a bad review. Don't use the service because if you use the 4 calls, they can decide you are too much trouble even if you paid for the service. You are not important.

SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO -- I have had AAA and roadside assistance for 14 years. I used the roadside assistance once when I locked my keys in the car. A company called B&G towing came out which has horrible reviews. While they were trying to unlock my door from the inside they broke my lock which is now not working. I took my car to a mechanic and is a $200 repair. Neither the contractor who was hired thru AAA or the roadside assistance will pay for. So now I cannot use my door which was working prior to them coming out. I am disgusted at the customer service and lack of accountability from both companies. I have since switched to another insurance company. Do not use AAA or B&G towing in Santa Fe NM. They do not back up their clients.

5 Hours From Call To Truck Arrival

WAUPUN, WISCONSIN -- Went in ditch in WI and got stuck in snow. Called AAA around 9 pm. It took 42 min on hold before talking to a human. They said their system was down. Agent asked what kind of car I had. I answered Suzuki Kizashi. He asked if it was a motorcycle. This was after I told him I was stuck in the snow and it also was 5 degrees outside. He then questioned me again about the Suzuki being a motorcycle. Evidently, AAA agents are unaware Suzuki has made cars for many years. It then took 2.5 hours for a dispatcher to call me and tell me she would look for a tow truck for me.

It took an additional hour to find someone to bring a tow truck. The tow truck driver did his job well, it was not his fault. But from the time I called to when my car was pulled out of the snow was 5 hours (2AM). This is totally unacceptable, especially when the temps were in the single digits. I have had AAA for several years, but the last two times I've needed their service the response was especially slow.

Refused to Tow My Truck

MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE -- I wish I could leave less than 1 star because they don't deserve a full one. If you like a long phone wait to get nothing accomplished this company is right for you! Also when you break down, be sure to break down somewhere other than a business that won't be closed so they will actually come pick up your vehicle. Also, it's preferred that you're unemployed so you can be there at the exact time they show which will be anywhere from 2-48 hours. Don't worry though if you are employed, and can't make it during the business hours where you broke down, they can wait till Saturday to come get it and not be liable for anything that happens to your vehicle in the meantime. Seriously, canceling membership now. It's better to just call the tow truck yourself and not have to put up with their "company policy".

Worst Service Out There

OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS -- We have belonged to AAA for years and in the past, when we needed them, they were great. My husband's battery died in our driveway and we spent over an hour on the phone with them. Long story short, they said the closest "battery center" was almost 2 hours away (we live 15 minutes from Overland Park, KS where over half a million people live!).

They said they would send a tow truck to see if they could jump it so we could drive to a store and buy a battery and sent in a reimbursement form. If the tow truck wasn't able to jump it, they said they could tow it 2 hours away and my husband could ride in the tow truck and then drive himself back after it was fixed. JUST WHAT MY HUSBAND WANTED TO DO ON HIS SATURDAY (not hardly). My husband asked what our battery allowance was and they said they didn't know and couldn't tell us.

After getting the truck going, my husband drove to a battery center (Big O Tires) who checked and confirmed the battery was bad and their cheapest battery, with replacement was $201.00 total. We filled out all the forms and submitted everything. They said it would take 2 weeks. I wrote a long letter explaining everything and after 3 weeks, they wrote back and said they were sending a $125 check - $75 SHORT of what he paid. They are rude, take forever, tell you totally different things every time you call and we will NEVER renew or use them again. Worthless is the nicest thing I have to say about them.

BRANDON, FLORIDA -- It took 24 hours for AAA to finally get around to towing my car. Yes, it was a 2-day horror show. At one point I sat for almost 3 hours at night waiting while they constantly updated that it would be another 15 minutes over and over again. So I walked home and tried again the next day. Oh, they claimed they were so busy. Yes well, when I finally calmed down and tried to lodge a formal complaint, I was told by a supervisor that they weren't that busy. Too many Uber rides back and forth to my stranded car as well, which makes it ludicrous.

First and only time I will ever use them for a tow. I probably will cancel my account especially since now I hold a letter in my hand to upgrade me 100 towing miles. Sorry, no deal. I can't walk home 100 miles after being left stranded. Forget it. This is NOT the company of years past.
