Cannot Talk With Customer Service

I was stunned to find that I made a 300.00 error in my checkbook, that resulted in all of this. But, just try and go through the system, to try to make an error correct. It is impossible. I was on auto pay, and the AAA premium, was over the amount of my overdraft protection, and was returned unpaid.

From day one, I was not able to get results talking to a customer service Rep. I was told my insurance was still active, and that premiums was paid until the end of the month. I tried to get information to resolve the problem, but was told I would get a monthly bill. (Bill never Came.) At the end of the month, I get a call, not from AAA, but a collection agency, for over 300.00 plus past due fees, and other charges to cancel my Insurance. They would not even let me explain what was going on, but demanded that I send them a Post dated check to cover the collection.

I admit, I made the error to create the problem. But no matter what I tried, I could not resolve the problem, and was told a lot of false information from AAA. Where oh where, is good customer service that a company cannot talk with their clients to resolve problems, and then create another problem because the issue is not resolve. I sure paid for my mistake that I made in the checkbook. Oh by the way, I called them to try to resolve this problem, they did not call me. What can we consumers do to get big companies to listen to the customer to resolve problems.

Ripped Off by AAA

Me and my wife moved from out of state so we needed to change insurance. We got a nice quote from AAA and we're happy that it would have been less than what we paid prior. One week after giving them our money they send us a letter saying that I was not insurable and my insurance was dropped immediately. With that notice, they say that I owe them more money on top of what I already paid for (and never got). What? They should owe me.

So I go in to see what is going on. They say I don't have a valid DL. What, well here it is. Never not one ticket in my life! Long story short they got me wrong and did not want to keep me by helping me fix a mistake that was not even a fault of my own. So I'm with Allstate now and we have since bought a home that we use Allstate to insure as well. Never had a single problem from Allstate. They cost less even. $75 a month for car and home. Eat your heart out AAA!!! Over intrusive yahoo's. Still never got my money back.

401 WESTERN AVE. SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE -- On 1-24-2011 I enrolled with AAA Home and Auto Insurance Co. I left my old insurance company because the premium kept going up every year. After the AAA agent assured me this would not happen with AAA I handed her a check for the home and auto policies. On 2-3-2011 received a bill from AAA for an additional 77.00 dollars, the reason, premium increase on the home policy. They could have at least let the ink dry on the last check! When I called my agent it was like I was from a different planet. She wouldn't give me the time of day so I still don't know why the premium increased. Once the agents get their commission they couldn't care less about you. Yes I went to a different insurance carrier and now feel like a human.

FAYETTEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- 2001 I was driving and had to stop immediately. Had brake lines on the road. Stop. Just in time. Then hit by a Ford truck going 60mph. He totaled his truck. Fire truck come, tow truck for his vehicle. My Cutless Cierra barely hurt at all. He plowed into me. I was shaken about. Get a lawyer. He never shows a picture of the truck. Never the tow truck report, never the fire co report. He takes me to an arbitration, but the night before meets me at a hotel lobby and says you can still Win this case. "Truth. Absolute truth" I did not get any money, he said nc only pays 1/3 medical bills.

My name is spelled different on each and every check. Wonder what that is. The driver was not cited at the accident for driving with no insurance, but that's how they played it in nc. I doctored for some time. The USPS made me come to work my shift before seeking medical attention. Probably a lawsuit. Anyway, this could happen to you. Research you insurance company and how many litigation s against them. It will pay off. I had full coverage and had to sue AAA insurance. They did not pay. I had a good driving record. Etc. Changed my life forever. I hope someone gets them in the court system. They are bad news.

AAA's reputation is toast

I called to upgrade a membership while traveling across country to Grande Canyon. I anticipated a delay in up-grade implementation knowing people could exploit the insurer just before a tow, otherwise. My current AAA-issued card says 'member since 2005'. (True!) The operator says I cannot upgrade until 12/31/2010, because they show 'member since 2009' (after putting me on a hold so long they should be billed for my time). They say 'call membership service during the week; regardless, our records show you cannot upgrade until 12/31/10'.

I refuse to do business with a company that cannot reconcile the information they print on their membership cards (a simple fact like membership start date) AND promotes wasting my time on weekends and while at work. We never use the service, so we've been a cash cow to them for years. What a pity they've been paid through year-end. AAA reputation is toast.

AAA Rates Are Too High

REDDING, CALIFORNIA -- I switched to AAA because they offered me a bundle service discount by having Auto, Home and Life Insurance with them. One year later, they did an across-the-board rate increase on both home insurance and auto insurance. I called and tried to reason with them to lower our way-over-inflated home reconstruction cost, which was far more than the value of our entire home and lot put together, but there was nothing they could do, they said. So now I'm back with the company I had before I switched and am saving over $300 a year. The worst part for me was having to go through the Life insurance medical exams all over again.

Credit Back to Debit Card Took Over 15 Days

DETROIT, MICHIGAN -- I called the automated phone system to pay my bill. The phone system had a recording that the payment could not be processed and they forwarded me to a representative. I gave the same payment info to a representative. They processed the payment. The next day, I see they took the debit payment 2 times (the automated phone payment went through). I called to get a simple credit back to my account.

I was told I had to fill out a form and it will be a minimum of 15 business days to process. I have had NO luck in getting the money (or getting a manager on the phone) sooner since it was their mistake and not mine. It is going on over 17 days now, still nothing. They suck and I am looking around for other carriers with better customer service.

Waited 10 Months...They Sent It to Arbitration...I Lost.

ILLINOIS -- As soon as I find a good insurance company I will be dropping this one. I was hit in my rear right panel by my turning light while making a right turn last year. This guy wasn't even looking where he was going. Bad, Bad weather in February and had to go very slow into the turn. I was hit after the turn was complete and gradually accelerating to proceed. His left front bumper smacked me and the cop gave me a ticket for speeding. No kidding... Of course I beat the ticket and AAA sent it to arbitration.

Because I never stated in my accident that I looked in my right hand side mirror I was found in error. I asked them why I would want to look in my side mirror, anyway I would have seen nothing but road shoulder and trees!!! "It didn't matter, the decision was already made" they said. The most bizarre situation I had ever been in. I was tempted to look for a pair of ruby slippers caught in my wheel well. I was told that all conflicts are sent to an arbitrator if both insurance companies are signed up with that service. I would never suggest this insurance company. Oh, I only had liability on my auto so they didn't have to pay my damages - 10 months.

Changing Auto Insurance Policy

RACINE, WISCONSIN -- First AAA will not allow you to determine what vehicle your teenage driver is covered on. Their underwriters determine that. It turns out to be the most expensive vehicle on the policy. The reasoning is just in case the teen drives the expensive vehicle they have to be covered on the vehicle. For us it resulted in a $1500 increase for each 6-month period. It didn't matter they had incorrect drivers listed for the vehicles being driven, unless I asked them to move my son to another vehicle, then it mattered.

Secondly, now my son is in the military and they will not take him off the policy until I have a document he is in the military or a document stating he has other insurance. The customer service provided is simple; the agents recite AAA policy and repeat, “there is no one else to talk to because they will just tell me the same thing” and then repeat AAA policy. Any they get made because I was not accepting their answer. Talk about having my wallet picked every month! I hate to think what it would be like making a claim?

Terrible Claims... Actually No Claim

ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI -- I was in my first accident ever when I was with AAA. I hit a patch of ice and rolled my car four times. When I first called in my accident I received a very kind customer service agent that told me my options. He told me to save all of my receipts for hotel, food, bus ticket home, and other items for loss of use.

Well it took awhile to get someone out to look at car and state that it was totaled. However, they would not give me a fair value for the car (it was a 2006, mint condition, with under 30K miles). The car was worth 16K in Kelley and Blue Book but they stated they do not use those values. What they did was found the two lowest selling cars in my state, which were dealers out in the boonies and only wanted to give me 10 to 12 for the car.

They also denied reimbursing me for loss of use, for the towing of the car and the medical bills. This is all a shock to me since I had full coverage. Also it took me months to get this information (four months) because I kept getting different names to talk to and different values and was promised different things. And what really got me was being called by people I never talked to before, being told to call them back, and then having them tell me not to call and that I had no right to call them when I did call them back.
