Great Customer Service

VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON -- My wife and I have been with Chase for about 5 years. We went to them after some extremely rotten dealings with Wells Fargo, with whom we had been with for more than 20 years. We have a checking account only with Chase, along with a debit card, no credit cards whatsoever. Since being with Chase, we have had nothing but great service from their personnel in our neighborhood. The branch we use is located in the Fred Meyer (Kroger) store near our home. The people there are helpful, friendly, and always seem happy to see us and to attend to our questions and problems.

About a year ago, I inadvertently got involved with a credit monitoring outfit in Texas, believing that they would get a one-time $30.00 fee for their report. Instead, this credit monitoring outfit hit our account for $30.00 three months in a row. We went to our local Chase bank and told the representative there about this. We were told that we would be getting back all but the original $30.00. Instead, after just a very few days, less than a week, we had all the $90.00 back in our account.

The only thing the representative at Chase asked of us was to let him know when and if the money was returned. Whatever anyone else might say about Chase, they have treated my wife and me with the utmost respect and great service.

Bank Misuse the Debit and Pending Charges of Their Checking Acct

MORRIS, ILLINOIS -- In response to the way Chase holds pending debits to or against you, I am fairly new to Chase. Within the first 2 months, was hit with debit card fraud - as much as they did wrong, they did pay for all debits. Have always kept my account in good standing whenever my balance gets really low and I can see pending debits, they either hold them until I make a deposit or they send small ones through. Believe me, Chase is crooked. I am gathering evidence for legal action. My branch banker laughed at me when I made complaints with evidence in hand, have read corporate is a waste of time. Just my story.

Savings Fees

I am a former Washington Mutual customer. I loved dealing with that bank. Now I have Chase. I just got my savings statement showing that I had $12 taken out for going over my savings withdrawal limit. I have never seen anything like this before and was unaware of these fees. I called the bank. They told me according to Federal Regulation D, I was limited to six withdrawals per month. I had never heard this before. I looked it up. Federal Regulation D does limit savings withdrawals to six per month but does not count ATM or in person withdrawals towards that number.

I called Chase back to clarify what they told me. The supervisor quoted Reg. D again. I explained to her what Reg. D actually stated. I suggested that instead of hiding behind Reg. D, they would be better off being honest with their customers and let them know they are charging a fee because they can. It has nothing at all to do with the Federal Regulation D. They will charge for $3 per withdrawal over four withdrawals, no matter how you take out your money - in person, ATM, pre-authorized, online. Good luck and beware of Chase and their fees!

Hidden Fees

I have a Chase Savings Account. I was never told that I would get unlimited withdrawals, transfers, statements, etc only for the first year. Also, when using the ATM, I was unaware that I was only permitted 3 free withdrawals per month. When I got my monthly statement, I learned that my account was overdrawn although when I asked for my account balance from the ATM and the tellers, it showed that I still had cash in my account. This is misleading and scary as the consumer thinks he still has cash left while he is overdrawn. Now, I will be forced to pay overdrawn charges.

Do Not Bank With Chase Unless You Want Your Money Stolen
By -

GARLAND, TEXAS -- I was not told that a service charge would be charged on savings accounts less than 300$. After withdrawing 11000$ from my savings, I left a balance of 100$... No one informed me that a minimum of 300$ was necessary or a 4$ per month charge would be incurred. I didn't look at my quarterly statement in Oct 09 due to circumstances but noted on my January statement that 24$ was withdrawn and hit the roof.

I was not given any sympathy by the Chase bank. They returned 12$ to my account after 24 hour period and blew off the other 12$. Mind you, I earned a measly 6 cents of interest and had only opened my account the end of July… early August and this bank STOLE 12 dollars. Had I NOT put the money there in the first place I would not have had this problem.

They really encourage you to trust them with YOUR money. NOT! Their service stinks. If you are in a hurry, do not go to this bank. They do everything in the world to slow down your banking experience by having you come back the next day or get frustrated enough to go elsewhere. I cannot state enough… DO NOT USE THIS BANK. The private banks of Texas have SO MUCH more SERVICE and CUSTOMER orientation that you cannot compare to Chase. Chase is big advertisement and low on customer satisfaction.

I actually left Chase a couple of years back due to their fees and questionable practices. Guess where I went to, WaMu. I am a victim of the recession, my unemployment ran out and I've had to sell some things to make rent. I deposited a check for $140. The next day I checked and the funds were posted to my account. I got some gas and went on my way. Three days later I get an email stating that my account was overdrawn. The check bounced. In addition the check bouncing Chase charged me a $10 fee and a $34 overdraft fee.

Do Not, I Repeat Do Not Bank With Chase .

I opened a workplace checking account with Chase and I was told I get free checking and two free ATM withdrawals a month and would wave any ATM fees. I took out $40 from a non-Chase ATM and was charged a $2.25 fee for taking out the cash. Chase was supposed to credit me the $2.25 fee because I get two free ATM withdrawals a month. When I contacted Chase they refused to credit me the 2.25 fee because they said it was the other bank that charged it and not them. Chase falsely advertised their policy and did not keep to their word. Bank with E*TRADE instead who gives you unlimited ATM withdrawals and waives all fees.

I have a joint checking account with Chase and a separate account of my own. My account was overdrawn so Chase felt that they could go into my joint account and take that money, which was my friend's money and put it over in my account even though I had told them I would make a deposit in two weeks when I received my paycheck. When I called they wouldn't even transfer the money back over into the joint account. So now my friend has her house payment to come out of the account without enough money to cover it. What does Chase care making their billions off of their customers.

Crazy Overdraft Fees
By -

WESTERVILLE, OHIO -- It is really criminal the way banks can charge overdraft fees. I switched to Chase because they said I could use my kid's savings account as overdraft protection for my checking account. Then I received multiple fees for debit card purchases. They reimbursed me for those 5 fees and then said I was given wrong information, that only my savings could be linked. In the meantime, my debit card allowed purchases when my checking had a $0 balance and then I got $1,819.00 in overdraft fees since Dec. 26, 2008.

I talked to the Manager and he said that he couldn't reimburse any of it because it wasn't a bank error. Of course it is a bank error. The bank should deny purchases when the account is near $0!!! I explained that I am Bipolar and my medicine is being adjusted to stop the impulsive buying and that my doctor can provide a note and my Mother is going to take over my accounts. It didn't matter. I live on $1,226 a month and pay $750 in rent. I know it would be easier to control my money if the debit cards would just deny purchases.

Chase Is the Devil!

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- We've been using Chase for the last 5 years and it's been an absolute nightmare. They have charged us fees for everything from overdraft (which the account was not really overdrafted) to convenience fees. We just had it with them and plan to close our account this week. Their customer service department is horrible and some of the reps are so disrespectful. We had a savings account with them last year and closed it after we were charged $10 to transfer money from our savings to our checking. Please, please I urge you, if you're considering Chase DO run the other way. They are truly the devil!
