GREEN BAY, WISCONSIN -- I visited one of our Target stores and decided to see what the Optical Department was like. I has just recently gotten a prescription and had been browsing frames at other stores. I was really impressed with the personable service in the optical center. The people in the optical department were really patient and helpful. They also offered great advice and they weren't at all pushy.

The price was very competitive so I decided to purchase my glasses there. My glasses were single vision, poly-carbonate lenses with EZ-Care. Compared to Sears Optical, I saved over $100 by getting my glasses at Target. They came back in about 3 days and I have been really happy about them. They have a great look to them and they are really comfortable. I will be buying my next pair of glasses at Target Optical!

Target Optical Lewisville, Texas blew it with me

LEWISVILLE, TEXAS -- I went to this Target Optical in Lewisville thinking "well, it's a department store, but I like all their other stuff, so why not?". It turned out pretty badly for me. I was rushed through an exam, given defective trial contacts, and they gave me the wrong prescription for the replacements. They gave me no instructions on the kind of contacts I had. They always waited for me to call them to check when my stuff came in, instead of letting me know.

Several times they said they'd get a copy of my prescription for me, and after about 4 times of asking and getting the run-around (they don't even keep the prescriptions there), I finally got it. The messages did not seem to reach the doctor, and the next shift person did not know anything of the arrangement. The doctor is only there on weekends and is almost always booked, which makes it difficult for scheduling any follow up. I finally got my prescription and got out of there to a real full-service optometrist.

Target Optical

I have made repeated visits to my local Target Optical over the last 3 to 4 months. They just could not get my prescription right. They ran all the test, etc. I finally gave up and went to another vision center (not a retailer) today. Guess what - I am scheduled for cataract surgery in 1 week. New doctor saw it within 10 seconds of looking in my eye. He could not believe they missed it! If you care about your eyes, don't go the cheap route like I did. Do not go to Target Optical.

What They Failed to Mention

FORT MYERS, FLORIDA -- Exam was professional. Bought two pair of glasses after they made me try to understand that I would be saving money with a pair purchase. No AARP or AAA discount unless I paid full price which would wind up costing more with the above discount than if I bought the pair. Confusing? That's OK. Still a good over all service, product and price. My biggest gripe is they never told me it would be a three week wait for my glasses (1 pr. readers, 1 pr. progressives).
