Do Not Give Them Your Business

TEMPE, ARIZONA -- Purchased window shades and installation service from Lowe's in Tempe, AZ. The worst customer service experience of my life. Totally disorganized, different "independent" divisions and "contractors" (i.e. "Rayline Installations") not communicating with each other, blaming each other for not getting this piece of paperwork there or (my favorite) the "phone system is down."

After waiting a month for someone to just come out and measure my windows (a 5 minute job), turned out (after I waited another several weeks for an installer) that he measured them incorrectly. Yes, that's correct: he couldn't measure a simple straight line correctly. Had to go in to the actual store several times and watch them call their other divisions in person. STILL didn't get the job done. Finally just canceled the service and installed them myself, which I should have done in the first place. DO NOT use them. It is a scam--I really can't think of any other word.

Fence Installation

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE -- The guy who measured for the fence was awesome. However the installation has been awful! First off the contractor changed days and never showed. Finally came on a Saturday and only worked until 3pm. Could not come back for 3 days because of rain. Then started installing and the fence was not straight and uneven all over the place with huge gaps at the bottom of the fence. Installer said "Your yard is not even". I had them correct.

After they left I noticed the corner was not attached. 2 weeks later and boards are popping off. I also noticed they used 18 gauge brads and not nails. I have called Lowe's and the original contractor is coming out to correct, but if they used the wrong nails it is going to eventually fall apart and I will have to purchase a framing gun and use real nails. Someone from Lowe's should have come out and inspected the fence.

GOOSE CREEK, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Salesperson came to my house measured for replacement windows. Was told by salesperson the windows would be installed no later than 2 weeks or less. Received phone call from Lowe's saying windows will be in on 24 February 2020. They gave me number to installer to call. I called the installer. He informs me he would not be able to install the windows until Sometime in April 2020 as he was the only installer for Lowe's and was backed up until April. I called Lowe's and they told me that there was nothing they could do to expedite the installation. I will never use Lowe's again for any installation due to salesperson Nicole was very deceptive and dishonest about the whole install. She just wanted to make a sale.

No Communication Between Departments or Installers

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- I thought I would post my review here (as well as all over the internet) about my experience with a door install with Lowes. I ordered and paid for a door and storm door. The install was hideous as Trevor at the store and not one but 2 (two) installers they call out to look at agreed. The last installer called in measurements for a new door and indeed verified it had to be replaced. Not sure why the first installer's notes were not good enough but the 2 installers agreeing would do the trick, right? Well I called in 2 weeks later (knowing it would take at least 3 wks for the new door to come in) asking for an update. There was NO notes to be found ANYWHERE that my door needed to be replaced. It was like they were either ignoring these installers or just not going to replace it.

They were trying to get a third (#3) installer out to take a look at the door to see if it needed replaced. I asked why they didn't believe the first 2...nothing in their records of it. I started to record conversations and keeping track of all who I talked to and mentioned I was going to have to get a lawyer involved and VOILA! I spoke with Lana who said she found the notes and measurements of my new door (just like magic) and that my case has been escalated to URGENT and that the door will be ordered. WoW! They somehow found the notes and measurements of my door right after I mentioned a lawyer.

I spoke to about 5 people who said there was nothing they could do but have a third installer out to check, I then asked..."well what is going to happen when you lose their notes and measurement?"...anyways, Lana "found" them. I will keep you updated on if it actually ever does get installed. I am giving them a month on this since it will take at least 3 weeks to get my new door in.

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS -- Juan and Jose showed up timely at 8am. They were scheduled to do three rooms. The job was fantastic. They took time to make sure even the smallest detail was completed correctly. Those guys rock and my house looks so amazing.

Patio Door Installation a Nightmare

SPRINGFIELD, ILLINOIS -- I am 83 years old and having owned many homes have had numerous patio doors installed but this installation provided by Lowes was a total disaster from start to what appears now to never be a successful finish. Without getting into the detail, the initial install was a complete failure with bowed jambs, a sliding panel that was hard to close, and a sagging sill plate on which the door slides. Now I am told the door will have to be removed and start over from scratch but can get no firm dates for new contractor to begin repair process. The installation office coordinators are terrible, unhelpful, hard to contact and unresponsive. Would never go to Lowe's again for any installation.

Installing Electric Slide in Range

JOHNS CREEK, GEORGIA -- Guy came to measure (same guy that installed) when only my wife was home. After measuring to make sure the new appliance would fit the space, he called me and said no problem fitting, but the appliance won't move, so you'll need to take it out. Keep in mind I paid $200 for the appliance to be installed.

Anyway, I pulled out the appliance and finally after 2 weeks of waiting it's time for the install. Installer said he needed to make a cut on the cabinet to get the appliance in, and said he needed to get his sawzall. I said are you kidding...."You can't make a straight cut with a sawzall." I offered my tools and he declined. Short story, he ruined my custom cabinets. His response...."Oh you can cover that up with a metal strip." Compare the two photos, one is the way it's supposed to look (left side of appliance), the other....oh well.

Year Long Kitchen Remodel

CLINTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- Lowe's kitchen remodel took a full year to complete. Contractor kept putting other jobs in front of mine, lied repeatedly about when he was returning, and even gave incorrect dates to the support team so that they were not aware of some delays when I'd call to get some action. I documented everything (so glad I did), and made hundreds of calls to keep things moving. In the end, wasted time, or avoidable delays, amounted to seven months. It was very frustrating throughout having to deal with this contractor and also deal with construction mess and having no kitchen for months.

On top of that, the contractor tried to charge extra for an electrical fix when the stove quit working right after they installed it. He said it was $400 and not related to their work. So I got someone else to look at it and got it done for $40!! The support team was supposed to be my liaison but at times made excuses for the contractor and wasn't very capable of correcting the issues with the contractor.

Roof Installation

MARIETTA, GEORGIA -- We just received a notice from Lowe's that they will not be responsible for damage caused by one of their contractors. We had a new roof put in November of 2017. In August this year we had new siding repaired and in the process, they found the flashing on the top of the roof was not installed properly leaving a large gap for rain/water to get inside the chimney. This caused the wood in the chimney to rot and we had to have the chimney rebuilt. I find this appalling to say the least that Lowes' using subcontractors who do shoddy work and the Lowes won't stand behind their work. Last time we will be using Lowe's for any home improvements. Our salesperson was Mark. The store was the one located on Dallas Highway in Marietta, Ga.
