Washer Repair
By -

BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- I put my Cabrio Washer in service on 14 January 2010. In March 2011, it gave me a "LD" alarm (Long Drain). First, the repairman said the electronic control board needed to be replaced. The $369.00 repair cost represented 51% of the original cost of the machine. After replacing the electronic control board the washer at least recognized the commands which was an improvement. However, the washer would not drain which the repairman said would cost another $208.00.

My complaint is a washer which is 1 year and 2 months old should not need repairs equal to over 79% of the original cost. The Whirlpool representatives kept saying over and over, "There is nothing we can do." I have never called a company and got this answer so many times. I wonder about the quality of Whirlpool's products. Needless to say Whirlpool has dropped to my "do not buy list".

What a disappointment. I bought the set for about 2k in 2007 April. Three short years later it began displaying code F51. The repair man came out at least 5 times with a myriad of theories and attempts to fix it. Ultimately, he replaced the control panel and all electrical parts to the tune of what would have cost me $600. Whirlpool knows they have a real problem with this machine, that's why they sent the repairman out for free to me.

The whole ordeal left me without a washing machine for 3 months and lots of missed time from work. Now, 6 months later, Feb 2011, it began being off balance several times, a load. We would re shovel the clothes then within seconds it was OL. Then I look on the floor and see water leaking. Not just a little, a lot! After seeing on the net this is a known problem I have thrown the thing in the trash and my new NOT Whirlpool machine is coming Wednesday. This is the only time I have taken the time to write a review. I wish I had this advice before I bought last time.

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer Don't Buy
By -

I had this washer for a little over 2 years and I am now dealing with the F1 crap. I called Whirlpool maybe three months ago and they said that there is nothing that they can do with it being out of warranty. I called Whirlpool again after reading some post on this and other sites.

The lady that was helping me first said that there is no recall and no issues have been reported on this unit. That's when I told her that I had been online researching this and found numerous people with this issue. Then she put me on hold and comes back and says that, if I would pay half price for the part they would have a tech to come out and look at the washer, then he would tell me what part I need and I was to call back and let them order it for me.

It didn't seem like they were going to budge anymore than that so I said "fine but I really don't think I should have to pay anything because it is an issue. This has to be a manufacturer defect and should be covered by Whirlpool fully." If you are planning on buying this washer I would say don't because paying more doesn't mean that it will last forever.

Cabrio Washer Warning - Buyer Beware!
By -

MICHIGAN -- I have wasted an entire day of my life trying to find out why my Cabrio Washer is displaying the F51 code. I called several local authorized service centers who were completely clueless. Finally, one local guy gave me the number for Whirlpool and told me to ask them about the F51 code and to find out what parts he should order to make the repair. Whirlpool customer service was NOT helpful and would not tell me what the error code meant.

I requested to speak to a supervisor and the representative left me on hold for 20 minutes before I was disconnected. Apparently, from what I read online this error code is a common occurrence for a Cabrio at 2-3 years out. I would never buy another Whirlpool appliance and wish I knew about this potential problem prior to making my decision. I thought that I was making a sound investment and purchasing a washer that would last years. I was told the repairs would cost about $450.

This is outrageous considering what I initially paid for this washer 3 years ago. I would probably be better off purchasing a cheap Kenmore for $350 that will last for 15 years and just scrap the Whirlpool money pit Cabrio. Whirlpool should be ashamed for stealing money from consumers for repairs that are apparently happening to all Cabrios at about 2.5 years old. Come on Whirlpool - do the right thing and recall the Cabrios! Anyone interested in a class action suit?

CABRIO WASHING MARCHINE ENERGY EFFICIENT?
By -

I purchased a Cabrio Washing Machine (Model #WTW6600SW2) almost 2 years ago. I'm very unhappy with it. It's supposed to be an energy efficient machine, but the wash cycles are TOO LONG (a big waste of electricity). Every time I do a bulky load, the load becomes unbalanced & has to be redistributed in the washer before it can complete the cycle. This usually occurs twice on this particular cycle, but occasionally happens on other cycles as well. I have not noticed a decrease in my water bill either (it's supposed to save on water too).

The latest problem I'm having with the machine is I get an F1 error message every time I use it & I have to power off and on once or twice more to get the machine to work properly again. This was an expensive washer, paid over $1000 for it. I've used Whirlpool appliances all of my life & this is the first time I've been unhappy with one of their products.

Twisted Mess
By -

KING OF PRUSSIA, PENNSYLVANIA -- I wanted a front loader. My husband wanted a top loader so I agreed once he purchased us the top of the line model at Lowe's. It was the Whirlpool Cabrio. What a great LOOKING machine, and I could watch the cleaning taking place with the huge glass door on the top. Whirlpool should have put a solid top on so that you couldn't see how little the agitation was and you couldn't see the LACK OF WATER. Believe me, there was no sloshing of water. On one sweatshirt I saw what I thought was spots on it. They weren't spots of dirt, they were spots of water. Half of the shirt had no water penetration at all. Imagine that, cleaning an item without getting it fully wet.

Also, all the clothes came out of the washer TOTALLY TWISTED TOGETHER. You will never see such a twisted mess in any other washing machine. We called Lowe's the next day and asked them to get this washer out of here. Lowe's was GREAT. They came the next day (and it was a Sunday) with a GE Profile top loader (no, I didn't get my wish for a front loader.) The GE profile is a much better washer. The sound of water sloshing through the clothes is MUSIC TO MY EARS. The GE is even an HE washer as well and Energy Efficient. Who could ask for more?

Cabrio Washer and Dryer HE
By -

AKRON, OHIO -- Oh my gosh. I went out and bought the Cabrio washer and dryer set (HE). I paid over $2000 for the pair. I have had them both for almost a year now. They are crap. The washer leaves my clothes very twisted and stretched... no matter what setting (even gentle). I am convinced that it doesn't clean my clothes very well (It's not like I roll in the mud either). I have to shake each individual item of clothing out before I place them in the dryer or else they are left very wrinkled and damp. The High Capacity Dryer... lol.

If you fill it over half way your clothes are left damp. I have to run every cycle twice to get basic cotton shirts dry. So much for saving money. Warning... if it's cotton, the dryer will leave it wrinkled. Needless to say, I am very upset. Forget calling the company. "So sad too bad you spent money on our product." NEVER AGAIN.

Poorly Made Product
By -

WINFIELD, ALABAMA -- Two years ago I bought a Whirlpool Cabrio washer and dryer after my Maytag washer gave up the ghost after eleven years. The dryer was still working fine, but I couldn't find a washer to match it. I decided to buy the Whirlpool washer and dryer to replace both of the Maytags. The washer doesn't run enough water in it to really clean the clothes, makes noise, had to have a circuit board replaced after a month; the dryer had to have the door switch replaced shortly afterwards.

The dryer was supposed to dry a load in thirty minutes--try an hour and a half. The dryer has quit heating, and the warranty is expired. The company representative I spoke to was "very sorry" but there was nothing he could do. I have never been so sick of buying something in my life as I am of the Whirlpool Cabrio--Fancy name- sorry product.

Cabrio Tears Up Your Clothing
By -

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- After much consideration on a new washer and dryer, we decided on a Whirlpool Cabrio. I can say with all honesty, these are absolutely terrible. They have ruined many items of clothing and by the time I realized what was doing it, my 30 days were up. So I am stuck with a washer that does not get anything clean and rips holes in my clothing. I have to wash over and over again to fade the stain just a little. Had my other washer and dryer for years and years and never any problems (these were obviously not Whirlpool). Do not buy. Check the internet, there is nothing good said about them.

Whirlpool Cabrio Dryer Model WED7300xwo

I have owned this dryer for slightly over a year and it is the most troublesome dryer I've ever owned. It worked well for about 6 months and then the trouble started. I have the repairman here at least once a month. The dryer turns itself off and won't restart for at least 1/2 hour. Then, it just does the same thing over again. The repairman has replaced the motor, the sensors, fuses... you name it. Same problem week after week after week. The dryer makes a grinding sound, electrical noises, smells bad and then shuts off. I will never buy a Whirlpool product again.
