One Issue After Another
By -

I bought the Cabrio washer and dryer in October 2009. I loved them at first. This was the first machine I could wash my comforter set all at once. I was able to get through my laundry in a breeze. Shortly after I started noticing unexplained rips in my jeans and super wrinkled clothes. I got beyond this issue by putting less clothes in and violently shaking my clothes before putting them in the dryer. My whites always came out dingy. So, I started putting bleach directly into the water as well as in the bleach area. My white were white again.

Then I started receiving error messages - each one I have been able to get through by turning the power off for a while or restarting the load. Now I am getting a new error message LD and my machine does not spin so I have a load of soaking wet clothes sitting in the washer right now. I am sick of the error messages, sick of restarting and turning a 48 min wash into a 2-hour ordeal. I can go on, but I have to go and hand squeeze the water out of a load of clothes. Let's hope the dryer works.

Washer/Dryer Cabrio Disaster

ARLINGTON, TEXAS -- We purchased a Cabrio Washer and Dryer January 12, 2008. Since December, 2008, we have had six (6) service calls on the washer (WTW6400SW) because it leaks. It is still not fixed. Now the dryer (WED6400SW) does not work because the heating element and the thermostat went out. We purchased these items at Conn's in Arlington, Texas, Store No. 094.

We want to do a buyback, but according to Whirlpool, we have to exhaust all repair options first which is just basically rebuilding a machine that is not worth it. We want monetary restitution for these two items in the amount of $1,763.42, and I will keep complaining all the way until something gets resolved and we get our money back.

Should I Extend The Warranty On My Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine?
By -

I have read some unfavorable reviews here on the Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine. I have owned one for two and a half years and haven't had any maintenance on it period. I know it's a matter of time before something goes wrong. Last week I got the letter to renew my extended warranty. The warranty extension is through Whirlpool's extended warranty service. I'm not knocking their extended warranty service. I have no complaints about them period. My problem is that I paid in the $600.00 or $700.00 range for my washing machine. I was shocked to see they now want $200.00 to warrant it for one year. To me it seems high.

What I need to know is would you pay the $200.00 to extend the warranty, or just replace the washer when something goes wrong? I'm not rich by any means and that $200.00 could go towards another washer. Do all washing machines cost this much to renew the warranty, or did I just get lucky?

Whirlpool Cabrio Washer and Dryer Disappointment

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- I can't warn you enough!!! Do not buy this washer. We have 5 kids and replaced our old washer we had for 16 years with a larger capacity, more efficient units. The washer doesn't clean and is so hard on our clothes. Everything ends up twisted together and wrinkled. The washer only lasted a year? The dryer doesn't dry. The capacity may be larger but we can only fill it half way or the clothes come out wet?

How can Whirlpool create such a bad product and not be forced to recall them. I will never buy Whirlpool again unless they make good on these defective units and find a solution. DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY!!!

Whirlpool Cabrio Washing Machine = USELESS

Washing machine stopped completing spin cycle intermittently during first 6 months, 2 service calls during warranty and both reset computer. Now product is out of warranty and Whirlpool is telling me tough luck. Washing machine is now completely useless and does not even start the spin cycle. Customer service no help and does not return calls. I will never buy Whirlpool again and urge you to do the same!

Recall Cabrio F 1

I have a Cabrio WTW6600SG2 purchased 3/22/08. Light use so I was surprised when F1 started. I have also experienced "your model # doesn't qualify for any coverage". I didn't purchase extended warranty due to light use. When calling, be polite & ask for a supervisor as they are able to approve the parts/service in full. Do not accept NO & arm yourself with all the facts from internet postings. This is POWER TO THE PEOPLE. I am infinitely grateful to the internet & all the wonderful people who have posted to find a solution to this "F1" issue!

Jet-Engine Loud, Or $500 Annual Repair!
By -

I am so disgusted with this Washer. I convinced my wife that it was a high-quality machine, given Whirlpool's reputation. Was I Misled? After only 6 months, it began getting loud. And after 1 year, it turned into an engine roar. We called the repairman and sure enough, >$400 repair for a main bearing and tub. I asked the repairman - "is this something I'll need to replace every year?" His answer, "well, you don't have to replace it just because it gets loud." So that's the NEW Whirlpool. Jet-Engine Loud or $500 annual repair.

Poor Product Quality

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- PLEASE do NOT purchase this set - very expensive! I've owned over a dozen washer/dryers in 34 years of marriage - never such a miserable product. Everything (even T's) have to be ironed - 1/2 the time, clothes removed from washer still have dry spots. Several items aren't even clean upon removal. Very disappointed - Whirlpool very uncooperative! Too expensive for a bad product!

Cabrio Washer & Dryer, Expensive Junk
By -

URBANDALE, IOWA -- I begged my husband to buy this high-end washer and dryer set. I'm so sorry he did! Our washer stops with an F-1 code on every single wash load we do, and has done this since last June. We've checked the balancing over and over, but it always does the same thing. We would have been better off to buy a rock and beat our clothes clean! I am so upset with Whirlpool. I was always a loyal customer of theirs since 1975, but no more!
