Awful Extended Warranty Sold by Whirlpool
By -

GEORGIA -- I purchased an extended warranty on my expensive front load washer I purchased just over a year ago. Starting squeaking when spinning and called for service. A&E came out 7/6/11 and said it could not be repaired. Made 10 calls following up. NEVER got a call from them.

Finally on 8/18/11 they agreed to replace and said I would get a call from the freight company in 2 days. DUH, this did not happen. Called today and they said their policy was I would get a call in 10 business days. They do not order the replacement until I get that call. What a horrible company and horrible product. I will never again buy a Whirlpool product or extended warranty they sell. I just bought a new high rise condo and replaced all the appliances in the kitchen and washroom. I DID NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL. They hire the company to service the extended warranty and they do a very, very, poor job.

Let Down

Four years after purchase, our 2007 Whirlpool Side by Side Refrigerator started having numerous problems:

  1. Freezer stopped freezing-even when adjusting the temp.
  2. Ensured coils were clean.
  3. Then freezer started freezing and refrigerator side started warming up.
  4. Repairman came out and found block of ice behind freezer wall, he thawed it out and 24 hours later a block of ice showed up again... he says compressor went bad.

It costs the same as getting a new refrigerator as it does to repair the compressor! The warranty for Whirlpool is only 1 year! Should have kept the old hand-me-down refrigerator from my parents-appliances and much more was just made so much better years ago.

Customer With No Service

BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- After 7 years the control panel went out. Called Whirlpool for Assistance. They told me to contact A&E and they connected me. They said they had 126 of these parts. I ordered the part on 6/27/11. They took my money out of my account. They realized they did not have the part on 6/30/11. I waited for the part to show up after being without an oven for over 2 weeks. I called on July 7, 2011. They told me they didn't have the part and their system was not set up to call or mail me a letter stating the part was no longer being built.

They were not going to call me. They were going to keep my money until I called. I then found out that the Circuit boards have been malfunctioning since 2004 and they did nothing about it. If you own RBD275PDB14 Double Oven and your control panel went blank let us know. They should have recalled this oven.

We bought an entire set of Whirlpool Gold appliances for our new kitchen thinking we were getting the top of the line. The oven works intermittently after I used the self cleaning feature. I was told that it seems that the self cleaning feature messes up the control pad. $400.+ to fix and no guarantee that it won't happen again. The refrigerator starting making a clicking and buzzing sound, with the interior light blinking. It was another $300. to fix that.

Of course this happened shortly after the one year mark and Whirlpool will not stand behind their products. I also noticed online that scores of people have posted the same problems with these models. These are both manufacturer problems so I am really mad that I am stuck with the repair cost to appliances I thought were top of the line. Will not buy Whirlpool anything again.

Brand New Appliances - DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC PARTS
By -

2000 NORTH M-63, BENTON HARBOR,, MICHIGAN -- A BRAND NEW GAS STOVE RANGE ARRIVE INOPERABLE WITH DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC PARTS. They were quick to send a repair person for a BRAND NEW, out of box GAS Range but only to be lied of parts. Tomorrow become 17 days later and still waiting for a parts. CONTACTED Executive complaint receipt team after having to be lied of parts, back order after 14 days including weekends... DO WE EVER MAKE ANY APPLIANCE THAT WORKS? I bought Whirlpool GOLD French Door Refrigerator last year only to experience water damaged my wooden kitchen floor. Then bad electronic froze all foods in refrigerator.

Malfunction ice maker... finally working after almost a year of pain and mental sufferance... Pain from not being able to use PLUS being a sitting DUCK... Now it is repeating... after purchasing Gas Range with double oven... lights will not go off and double oven do NOT WORK!!! CONSUMERS should united against manufacturers to make better product!!! America is getting behind in the world market - why? We just don't produce products that work properly!!! Especially... in both of my cases - DEFECTIVE ELECTRONIC PARTS!!!

Consumer should be compensated beyond 2-3 days of being a sitting duck waiting at home when promise is not kept. Plus mental stress that we have to go through without being able to COOK!!! MANUFACTURER SHOULD PAY FOR OUR MEALS!!! As I have been lied to by its vendor plus the company itself. Monday IS NOT Tuesday!!!

Double Oven RBD275PDS14

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA -- I have had problems with my ovens and Whirlpool tells me the part is not available or on back order. The problem has been going on since 12/08, one of the ovens work at a time but can't run both they will cut off. Customer service told me that I shouldn't expect them to last forever. I only used it for four years when I started having problems. I will never buy Whirlpool again!!! My in-laws are now having the same problems with their oven too. I do have a duet washer & dryer set that I bought before the problems with the ovens, still like them except for the smell they create. Never buy Whirlpool!!!

Poor quality
By -

Six years ago we bought our Whirlpool double ovens new. After five years, a week before Thanksgiving, the upper oven would not work. We had to replace the control "ERC" which was expensive. Now a year later the upper oven again does not work. It started after a self-cleaning a month earlier. We will not be investing anymore money into these ovens. It is a shame that the quality of products have diminished. My aunt and sister have double wall ovens that they have had from the 70's and 80's. I pray this time our purchase of a double wall oven will last longer than five years.

Customer Service Sucks Because:
By -

BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- Customer service sucks because Whirlpool doesn't know how to treat the employees right. They screw the employees over every chance they get and you as a consumer expect good customer service from these employees?? If Whirlpool was really concerned about keeping the customers happy they need to start with the employees.

They hire in people who don't know anything and fire the ones that do. They demote employees just to save money on benefits and pay. This is how Whirlpool treats employees who are in the customer service end of the company. You've got to wonder why anyone would expect an employee of Whirlpool to be courteous and helpful to a customer when we are not treated well by the company we work for. So next time you call Whirlpool, don't scream and yell at the poor representative who took your call because they are more mistreated than you are.

Buyer beware
By -

After 3 months of owing our new Whirlpool fridge it broke. We contacted the customer care center and they told us they would send someone out to fix it and send us a check in the mail for $75.00 for the loss of food (this covered about 1/2 of the amount that we lost).

After the repair was done (4 days later) a few months went by and we never saw a check. We called them wondering where our check was and they said "the customer rep that was handing our file never noted anything about a check so therefore you will not get anything." Not only do they lie to you but they can't even back up their own product after 3 months. Buyers please beware. Once they have your money you are on your own.

Whirlpool Double Convection Oven Failure
By -

We remodeled our kitchen and replaced all of our appliances with Whirlpool because in the past have been great. However, Whirlpool's product quality has gone down the toilet. Everyone of the four appliances has required expensive repairs and they are only two years old! Now the double convection oven has quit yet a second time. We are told that part W10244191, the oven controller has failed, again, and that the part is back ordered.

The oven failed on 22 Nov. so we went without thanksgiving and were told the part would be here on Dec. 15th. Now we are told the part will not be available until Feb 15th of 2011. That ridiculous! Every parts supplier has told us the same thing. Back ordered… again! Whirlpool should be sued for this. WARNING Do NOT buy WHIRLPOOL appliances!
