LONG BEACH, CALIFORNIA -- Purchased the Whirlpool front load washer at Best Buy on 11-01-2012 at Westminster, CA 92683. Phone number: (714) 896-9693. Whirlpool Front Load Washer Model: WFW9151YW. Location of the washer: Long Beach, CA 90808. Problems: the washer was making loud noise on the spin cycle and oil leaked to the clothes. Called Whirlpool and they sent repair technician to replace the parts and repaired on April -04-2013.

After 6 weeks the washer was making noise again on spin cycle, leaks oil to the clothes. Called Whirlpool on May-18-2013, the repair technician came to our place, but the technician said that we have to pay for repair. They blamed that we overloaded the clothes, but we did not. The washer is still covered under its one year warranty, why we have to pay?

Called Whirlpool again on May-28-2013. They said the same things that we have to pay for repair the washer. The washer is still covered under its one year warranty; we do not think that we have to pay anything. I think Whirlpool is one of the worst companies for customer service. The Whirlpool front load washer is a bad product, they need to redesign it. They did not try to fix the problems, but they tried to find something to blame on the customers.

We purchased a Whirlpool Duet frontload washer 15 months ago, after the salesman repeatedly told my wife the Samsung was much the better machine. My wife explained that we had a Whirlpool machine for the past 20 years and she wanted to remain loyal! That doesn't pay!

The machine was serviced twice during the one year warranty and 3 months out of warranty the tub bearings need to be replaced. Whirlpool customer service has explained to me that 15 months is an exceptionable level of reliability for their washers (I'm paraphrasing). My new machine (not a Whirlpool) will be a no frills, no electronics, low cost disposable washer!

Just a quick note on the Duet Washer. Purchased this unit about 1.5 years ago and just had a main bearing failure, the drum seized, belt popped off with error code 27. This unit is covered under the extended warranty but is of marginal use. Whirlpool indicated the repair would cost $950 and chose instead to cash out for $600. Also the tech indicated that they had a bad bunch of bearings from a new vendor and the problem is common. I would avoid this washer and likely the dryer. It was quite expensive costing 600 dollars for a very short useful life. Avoid.

This dryer is a top end unit. It never completely dried clothing from day one. We read the manual over and over to try to figure out how to make it complete the drying process. We subsequently read many reviews about the same issue others were having. Clearly this product has a problem.

Last night, exactly 6 weeks beyond the end of the manufacturers warranty, the dryer quit. A call was made to Whirlpool asking for some consideration. I am having $4500 worth of new Kitchen Aid products delivered today and thought since Whirlpool and Kitchen Aid are related that I may get some relief. No such luck. My options were roll the dice with a service call and hope the part is cheap, or pay for an extra years coverage, where any additional repair would be covered. I opted for the latter @ a price of $287 bucks!

Suffice to say, we are not very happy with Whirlpool. I sure hope that the $4500 worth of kitchen products fare better. Our last washer, dryer and fridge were all GE. After reading all the Consumer Reports, we decided that Whirlpool offered the most reliable product. I am now having buyers remorse and wish I had stuck with products from GE.

Whirlpool Just Lost Me as a Customer for Life

I am very unhappy with my Duet Sport front load washer, and the way they are handling problems that they know about, but won't take any action to help their loyal customers work through without paying through the nose. Today I was told that I had a bad Main Control Board ($255.53), but to make sure the problem is corrected, I also needed to replace the Motor Control Board ($271.62). Why? Because there is no way to tell which one is the culprit, and replacing the wrong Board would either not fix the problem, or could cause the replacement part to go bad.

There is no way to single out the problem through a diagnostic test. So the solution is to replace both boards. At a total cost of $527.15 without tax or shipping, direct from Whirlpool. I wasn't even asking for them to give the parts to me for free. I just asked for them to split the cost with me. The service company that I use quoted me a cheaper price for the parts than Whirlpool did!!! I will never buy a single thing that carries the Whirlpool name again. That includes other brands that are owned by Whirlpool, such as MAYTAG, KITCHEN-AID, JENN-AIR, AMANA, BRASTEMP, CONSUL, GLADIATOR.

User Care Guide And Instructions
By -

553 BENSON RD, MICHIGAN -- My 4 year old Whirlpool washer just quit because the drain pump filter was stop up with lint and other junk. I read the user care guide and followed all the loading directions. The user guide had no instructions about removing the lower panel and cleaning the pump filter. The filter stopped up and started smelling and leaving the wash with too much water in the clothes, this finally cause the drain pump to fail.

I called Whirlpool experience center and made a complaint. They said that they do not recommend cleaning the drain filter. New washing machine by other manufacturers have a small access door and their users guide has instructions how to drain the pump and remove and clean the filter regularly. I will never buy another Whirlpool product and would not recommend Whirlpool to anyone else.

Horrible

As with the others who have posted here, I would caution anyone considering buying a Whirlpool appliance, based on my experience. 18 months ago I purchased this new, front loading washer. I am a single person, living alone and don't do laundry for anyone else. I wash 2 to 3 very light loads per week (sometimes less), use soft water, etc.

About a week ago I noticed a very loud noise coming out of the washer on spin cycle. I called an authorized repair shop and the repairman came by today. He informed me that a bearing was going out and that the repair bill would be $1120.70. He strongly urged me to call the Whirlpool warranty center to see if they would extend the warranty, given the circumstances. I called and you guessed it -- they essentially told me to stick it. To say that I am dissatisfied is an extreme understatement. Based on my experience, I would encourage everyone to select a different manufacturer.

MANY Troubles - Washer Duet Steam 4.0 Front Load Made by Whirlpool

Washer wfw9500 front load purchased @ Lowe's on 4/8/08. My washer came with a one year manufacturer warranty. Plus I bought extended FOUR more years and it's a GOOD thing. Washer was 1298.00 pedestal 228.00 plus my protection plan of 159.00.

BUYER BEWARE... Look for another machine. You will always have codes popping up and your machine not working. Just my son and I, and I have to call them out FOUR times this year so far. The service appointment are a FULL DAY WINDOW 8-5. Each time taking off work. Lowe's Extended Plan they either calls Stats service out of Peoria, IL or A & E from Bloomington, IL. This WASHER is JUNK!

Duet Front-Loading Washer door seal poor design
By -

The gray rubber door seal on the Duet Sport front loading washer is a terrible design. It traps water in it and around the edge which then causes mold and slime to form. Whirlpool's suggestion is to use bleach which I refuse to use and to dry it out with a towel after every use. I have never had a washing machine which has been so labor intensive. I eventually had to order a new seal because it is so disgusting but the new seal does not match the old one and now causes rubbing on the tub.

Whirlpool does not see this as a defect in the design and I will not be purchasing another washing machine from them. I also am disappointed in the lack of selections for the wash cycles. No matter what I do, my clothes never seem to smell clean anymore. I am ready to go back to the old top filling machines.

Washing machine walks and came apart

My Whirlpool sport shakes so bad when in rinse or any spin cycles. We just thought it was normal, It was level and my wife and I would just look at each other when this thing went on its rants. Tonight it was spinning and we heard a couple of knocks and then bang bam. I heard this in the garage, I ran in unplugged it and it wouldn't stop. Then that was it. Now I have a 2 year old washer that is junk. I was leary about buying a washer made in another country and this is just proof we are being ripped off by corporate America. Now I am going to file a complaint.
