NEW HAVEN, INDIANA -- Immediately after install, the oven door face kept coming lose, they did send someone to fix & replace. I've used the self cleaning
***published here https://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/whirlpool_ranges.html***

twice, first time was fine, second time not so much. The cleaning process left major scrum below the window inside the door & below, which wasn't there before I did the clean. I take great pride in keeping my oven clean, do not allow build up because then you can't get it clean. This stove is less than a year old & has only been in place for 6 1/2 mths (I purchased before remodeling was complete). My last stove I sold easily, it was clean & guest what it was 32 years old, only replaced because of updating our kitchen!!! I contacted Whirlpool & they said it's cosmetic & not covered. I called Lowe's, they refer me to the service advance phone #. Well that was Whirlpool, not Lowe's. Still nothing being done, other then they sent me cleaning stuff to try and get it cleaned (still working on that). I'm concerned this stove is going to continue to have issues & will be out of warranty soon. Whirlpool is not standing behind their products & we have been Whirlpool customers for a long time. If I have more issues with this stove, we will never purchase Whirlpool again. Don't buy their products, they don't stand behind them!

Gas Range Is Dangerous Design

Bought 1/4/18. WFG515S0EW is the model. 2 power burners, one that simmers and one medium burner. This has 2 cast iron grates that interlock, you have to remove both of them and lay on floor to clean off cooktop. The grates are only crosses over the burners so you cannot use a 1 qt pan on it safely, as it can tip to either front or back. The only burner you can simmer on is at back right, which means you are reaching over very hot pans with a very high flame, even on low the power burners are still too high. I know of no-cook that doesn't need to simmer 2 or more pots at some point.

The handles of pans literally will get hot enough to burn you, which I have never had happen when I am cooking, if your pans have a good handle, which mine do. This is the poorest design I have ever seen. The fact that you cannot see one of these stoves hooked up so you know the power burners are too high a flame and too hot, and you cannot get to the simmer burner to stir it, is a major problem.

Whirlpool, Schott Ceran Grey Color Cooktop Stove

CHICO, CALIFORNIA -- I purchased a Whirlpool stove with a Schott Ceran cooktop, grey in color. I was flipping houses and the house was vacant so the stove was not used for quite a while. The house didn't sell so I moved in. NI don't cool so again the stove was not used.

I married in 2006 and my husband cooks so we started to use the stove. Immediately we discovered the stove burns black from the underside of the stove top. The whole underside of each burner (used to be grey) is now spotted with large black burn spots showing from the underside. When I complained to Whirlpool they offered to send me a new top at 1/2 the cost. The top is obviously defective and should be replaced at their cost. They have refused a couple of times to replace it. The top of my grey cook top is so ugly with big black spots on each burner. I will never buy another Whirlpool product again since they do no stand behind their products.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS -- My 2011 JennAir range (now part of Whirlpool) started losing control panel function after only 7 years. Despite seeing online that this is a frequent problem, technical services acted like it was only me. After trying to get me to an out-of-state repair service that had a terrible reputation, I finally got them to refer me to a local accredited service. They said that it happened all the time, and perhaps order the part in advance of the service call - so I bought the last one.

They came out, said it was the wrong part, the right part would never be available, and get a new oven. Oh well. But they charged $189 to come out and tell me the part I ordered was the wrong one. And then when I returned the part to JennAirCustomerService (at my expense) wouldn't take give me a $240 part refund since they said it was "used". AND THEY WOULDN'T EVEN SEND IT BACK.

They wanted to keep the entire $429, didn't spend any time really, pronounced my not-old range unrepairable, and then keep the part to sell to someone else!!! So far, I've shamed them into returning the part to me (I have no use for it). And I made a point of not buying (never, ever buying) a new range or any product in the Whirlpool crime family. Please if you care about "Truth, Justice, and the American Way" don't buy from them either.

Whirlpool Gas Range Model # WFG320M0BW

BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- Very disappointed in this range. I found out upon delivery it did not come with a broiler tray, that I would have to buy that separately. I was told that because ranges are cheaper now that those are not included. (The only thing cheaper now is the quality.) It has 2 large interlocking cast iron grids which are heavy and difficult to remove for cleaning. I can't understand why anyone would prefer these. I'm not sure what the exterior of the stove is coated with but it is impossible to clean. Any grease splatters or spills seem to glue themselves to the stovetop and no amount of scrubbing will remove it all, even when cleaned immediately.

I accidentally dropped a small salt shaker while cooking and it knocked a big chunk out of the enamel which shows what poor quality it is. (This was a very small, lightweight shaker.) I have purchased a lot of Whirlpool appliances over the years but this will be my last. I had a Magic Chef range for 30 years that was very easy to clean and never got a scratch on it. I would advise anyone shopping for a range not to purchase a Whirlpool.

Conversion to Propane Parts Defective

ALABAMA -- Ordered Whirlpool as range online with Homedepot.com during Labor Day sale week. Delivered a week later 9/14. I use propane so my propane company couldn't install until 9/19. Came home after work and smelled gas, got worse during the night. Contacted my gas company, they came out the very same day. Check all the gas lines; no leak in the line but when hooked to the stove it leaks. The defect was in the stove. Mind you, have not used the stove yet. Called Home Depot. Sent me to Whirlpool the most in the box thinking people I have ever dealt with. The set up service with a company that doesn't service gas ranges and then asked me to find someone to repair it. I had to finally have Home Depot contact them. They agreed to replace stove with another Whirlpool.

Today is September 28, and I still don't have a stove, I'm cooking on a burner and my gas company wants me to pay $108 for the previous service call and will need to come back again to install the new stove at another $108. At this rate, I don't think I will buy another Whirlpool range.

BENTON HARBOR, MICHIGAN -- I purchased this stove from Lowe's in August of 2015, my previous one was a store brand and over 30 years old. WOW did I make a BIG mistake! First off when the stove was delivered I found out a printed owners manual does not come with the stove, you must access it via a computer.

Ok, we are now into July of 2018. I decided to make some brownies (already I am not happy with the glass top burners takes too long to boil water). I preheat the oven and BAM at 180 degrees it says call for service. Fan is running too low. So I go on the computer to look this up. The Whirlpool site recommends to turn off circuit breaker for 1 minute, then turn oven on and reheat. What a joke! It says if this doesn't work call for service.

Now let me tell you my old stove cooked, baked, broiled, and heated for a family over 30 years. This super duper stove only had me one person and I didn't use it that much and in 3 years it needs service? I did further research online and found I wasn't the only person with this model that has had this problem, further I found once they called a service person it cost almost as much as a new one and the part had to be replace again in a year or two.

I would say this is a pretty expensive stove when I probably hadn't used the oven more than 50 times (I like to grill). This product may be made in the USA, but the quality has gone to the dogs! I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool product again. As the saying goes fool me once shame on you...

The Knobs Are Terrible and Keep Breaking

BUDA, TEXAS -- The countertop stove is a nightmare. Cleaning is difficult but above all the knobs keep breaking. Our house was built from the ground up and the builders installed Whirlpool countertop stove. We have been here for 2 years and we have purchased at least 6 knobs already as they keep breaking. The knobs are not cheap and we have to pay shipping and handling.

Why on earth make the shaft of the knob plastic when that part should be the strongest and the rest of the knob seems metal. Sounds fishy to me. It appears Whirlpool does this on purpose so you can keep buying their knobs. It pisses me off as the replaced knobs that I have now, 2 are broken. I'm NOT buying any more knobs. I'd rather replace the entire countertop stove and tell people not to purchase from Whirlpool. In the long run Whirlpool you will lose as the quality is subpar!

Disappointment W/ My BRAND NEW Cooktop

DENVER, COLORADO -- Remodeled kitchen, brand new cooktop/KitchenAid 5 Burner Down Draft w/ Even-Heat Ultra. Used the Even-Heat burner for the very first time and it is flaking on the underside of the burner. What's that all about??? I ordered it online through Home Depot, went back to Home Depot. They said call Whirlpool. Well, I did. Said they would send a service person. Great!! Or, so I thought. I get a call from the "service agency". They say $99 just to show up without even looking at it. Give me a BREAK. Don't purchase this product. What a joke. In all fairness I did call Whirlpool back and the new person said she would waive the fee. Let's hope this is truly waived and they fix the problem.

New Range Knobs Keep Breaking
StarStarEmpty StarEmpty StarEmpty StarBy -
Rating: 2/51

SALEM, OREGON -- I bought a new Whirlpool gas range in spring of 2017 so haven't had it quite a year. So far I have had to replace 3 knobs that control the burners. The outside of the knobs is some type of metal but the shaft part that makes contact with the control for the burners is very thin plastic and they break through regular use. The cheapest I could find so far is $30.00 each plus shipping so it isn't cheap to use this range. I take the best of care of my appliances and they should last.

I contacted the manufacturer, gave them all the numbers right off the range and was told those weren't correct??? I believe the manufacturer purposely makes the part with plastic where it should be the strongest so that they don't last and new ones must be purchased regularly. I am going to take a picture of the numbers on my range and email them to Whirlpool so they can figure out what numbers are correct. My husband has a small machine shop so I think I will just have him mill some aluminum knobs including the shaft. Because I don't think Whirlpool will improve the manufacturing of these.
