THE HOME DEPOT Complaint - Conviction Contradiction
Recently, I applied for a job position at home Depot in Houston. When leaving the store, I asked one of the managers if I would be hired with a misdemeanor on my criminal background. He said no. I asked why & he told me that it was company policy. I noticed that they sold a variety of products with Martha Stewart's name on it. What kind of contradiction is that? They won't hire someone with a minor misdemeanor on their record, but will sell products with a convicted felon's name on it. If they won't hire them, then they shouldn't do business with them either.
I am 24 years old. When I was 17, I got arrested because I defended myself against someone who was bullying me, but because I was older, I got charged with the assault. I guess Home Depot as a company, doesn't care about the circumstances of the charge or how long ago it was.
In that case, Martha Stewart should fall into the same category. I don't have anything against her, I'm just saying that the "policy" should pertain to everyone, & not just people who are trying to get a job. Home Depot is a very biased company and I won't ever do business with them.
